The English version is called “Another night”. The singer’s name is Jan Johansen. You should be able to find it here on YT. Even though I don’t understand any Swedish, I still prefer this version than the English one. It sounds better.
I was 19 back in 1995. Love this song so much ❤. For me, and more than any other song, it is everything about my youth, my life, my dreams, my love I had back then.
"Se på mig" means "Look at me" in English Here is the english lyrics: When your journey is long and you are weary But you still have to go on, mmm… And when the shadows start to grow and come to life And when the night scares you so I am beside you and I follow every step you take And with you, I’ll stay So look at me, oho, a harbor in the storm Like a wave, that is born to carry you Yes, look at me, oho, in light and darkness I’ll be there and I’ll never leave you When you stand one day at a crossroads of your life Like a lost little child I am beside you and I follow every step you take And with you, I’ll stay So look at me, oho, a harbor in the storm Like a wave, that is born to carry you Yes, look at me, oho, in light and darkness I’ll be there and I’ll never leave you I’ll go with you wherever you go And I’ll never leave you So look at me, oho, a harbor in the storm Like a wave, that is born to love you Yes, look at me, when the light turns into darkness in your life I’ll be there, and I’ll never leave you I love you so
One of the best Eurovision years ever. The quality of the songs was amazing. This is up there as one of my favourites. I was lucky enough to attend dress rehearsals at The Point Depot that year and this was one of the acts I saw perform. He was incredible. I still play the song all the time in my car. Denmark, Cyprus and Spain stand out for me that year as incredible too. What a year !
This was one of the best year in ESC, 1995. If you haven't still listened to most songs, you should. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Spain, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Cyprus, Greece... Wow, great great songs!
it lost to one of the greatest Eurovision entries ever and Spain's best ever. This in itself is my favourite Swedish entry that fell short of the winning post. No shame here considering the quality of the competition... still Sweden have more than made up for it since.
Thats not true this is the best we made since before. Not again have we done better. Keep Abba in mind todays music belongs in a trashcan. Been this way for 15+ years now
Amina should have won this Eurovision year, no doubt. I still loving this beautiful song. It is one of my all time favourite Eurovision tunes. Maybe it is my favourite one. It is such a very, very , very, very beautiful song. Love Amina and Love France. Much love from Timo from the Netherlands ♥️❤️❤️
1995 was a strong eurovision year, the top 3 were all good and Nocturne is one of the best if not the best song in eurovision history so I think the winner was well deserved
WOW! What an amazing entry! Sweden should start sending amazing entries in Swedish, which I think is a beautiful language. Plus, I like the Scandinavian languages. The focus should always be on the performance, the voice, and the music, not on understanding the lyrics.
Belive it it not, he just started as music-teacher in my kids school. My kids are 8 and 10 years old. Difficult to be an artist and make a living when Covid-19 is around, I guess.
High quality and not the trash of these days. Yes its possible to send good songs In the real language and not always In english! This and Portugal are the proove! I miss the northern and greek language! Now its only english trash!
Remember hearing a parody of this in the late 90s where they sing "SÄPO mig, ni följer varje steg jag tar" instead, refering Sweden's security agency following some espionage scandals. Never been able to find that parody again nor info on who made it.
I've just watched the preview video for this and boy did it ever get a glow up for the final. Jan sings it OK but really struggles to connect with the camera on the Melfest version, and keeps licking his lips, presumably through nerves. They sorted out his hair a bit and ditched the big earring too 😁
Those were the times when Sweden did send quality songs to Eurovision. Now in the last 10-15 years it's just constant production of cheap Eurotrash pop. This years entry for example is just a cheap copy of David Guetta and last years entry was copy of Wreking ball with Miley Cyrus
Well both 1995 and 1996 entries ended up in 3rd place and are much better than what we have from Sweden these days with the exception of Euphoria which is simply extremely well composed pop/dance song.
@woodlandguy76 Wouldn't work today? Your prediction was wrong, at least last year. A simple ballad (without synthetic instruments) in the national language still has the power to win, as Portugal did last year.
I have still been playing this in 2021 and as an English man, I love the Swedish version.
Isn’t it lovely to hear them sing in their own language instead of shouting nowadays, lovely times to remember x
One of the best Swedish song in all history.Magnificent.
His voice is perfect! And this song DOESN'T sound outdated, it could receive a very good place even now, in 2010s
This song's English version is on retro radio stations all the time.
@@Mcquiz95 Really? Where? I haven't heard anything of this song for like 10 years.
@@thesnesgeek It plays quite often on Estonian radio stations that play more retro music. Only the English version though.
@@Mcquiz95 It's funny how a song released in another laungage can be more successful in another. And how is the english version accordring to you?
The English version is called “Another night”. The singer’s name is Jan Johansen. You should be able to find it here on YT. Even though I don’t understand any Swedish, I still prefer this version than the English one. It sounds better.
One of the best song from Eurovision. Greetings from Slovenia
One of the best Eurovision Songs in the history...Beautiful and well produced :)
Agree
the orchestra made an amazing job in 1995, in most entries, i would say. unsurpassed!
I was i Sweden that year. Love the song. Love Sweden. Love the swedish people🥰🥰
Love abba
@frankly-he1kf I love ABBA, too. 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
I was 19 back in 1995. Love this song so much ❤. For me, and more than any other song, it is everything about my youth, my life, my dreams, my love I had back then.
I was 21 and I simply had a crush on the guy. 😄
Same. I was 15, going on 16, went to Sweden for the first time and fell in love 😊 this takes me back 🥰
23 years later...still 12 Points from Germany!
Genau! Von mir auch 😊
"Se på mig" means "Look at me" in English
Here is the english lyrics:

Still the best that Sweden ever brought to ESC. So pure and so subtle.
One of the best Eurovision years ever. The quality of the songs was amazing. This is up there as one of my favourites. Wow, I discovered this song recently and it is growing more and more in me!
One of the best ESC-entries ever ever
This was one of the best year in ESC, 1995.
If you haven't still listened to most songs, you should. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Spain, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Cyprus, Greece... Wow, great great songs!
Totally agree
Brilliant performance..stayed focussed and remained understated....to me, the best song in 1995.... Heja Sverige 🇸🇪
it lost to one of the greatest Eurovision entries ever and Spain's best ever. This in itself is my favourite Swedish entry that fell short of the winning post. No shame here considering the quality of the competition... still Sweden have more than made up for it since.
That warms a swedish heart. Thank you very much.
That year was very competitive. The top 3 songs can do good as winner.
Thats not true this is the best we made since before. Not again have we done better. Keep Abba in mind todays music belongs in a trashcan. Been this way for 15+ years now
I love this song. Perfect voice, beautiful melody.
Best Eurovision song EVER loved it and still do
One of the best ESC-entries ever ever ever!!!!!! Sooooo beautiful!!!
Much better than the actual winner
This song should have won, was easily the best one that year!
Some really great songs those year.. Don't know which one to choose..! Such an amazing swedish song, even after almost 25 years..!!
25 years ago, feels like yesterday. Superb performance, thx.
One of the best songs ever made. Especially this one performance
remember falling in love with this singer :p
2021 ...i am still in love with this song
Welcome back to a surprising Melodifestivalen, Jan!
One of the best ESC-ENTRIES ever!
Love the song and him. ❤❤❤❤❤
Sweden always make best Eurovision Tunes, I love you Sweden
I love this song!
I loved this from the first time it was in esc
My absolute winner that year!!!
Gran balada, muy romántica, con cantante con mucha personalidad y bastante pasional. Calificación: 9/10
One of the best songs ever
I love this SWEDEN entry.

A Good song and a performer with a Great voice ❤️
It's Jans voice that makes the song.
Great song! I love it! ❤️❤️🌞🌞🌞
Like wave thats birthed to love you❤
I used to think this song was so sad when I was little, I cried every time I heard it xD
Teragauss Cuddle The English version is sad indeed ntl.
Una gran canción...de lo mejor que ha enviado Suecia al festival en su historia.
Should have won in 1995!
Agree
It's a good song, but come on; secret garden's nocturne was way too good! I dare say that nocturne is too good for eurovision.
...instead of secret garden AND anabel conde? no sis. This was a nice one but
Yes this song is better than in 1991.
1995 was a strong eurovision year, the top 3 were all good and Nocturne is one of the best if not the best song in eurovision history so I think the winner was well deserved
I miss very much hearing Swedish in ESC. Sweden just send throwaway pop now. Shame
Scott Earp I love the Nordic languages very much and that’s also for Iceland, Denmark and Norway
This came in as a close second in Melodifestivalen this year.
ruclips.net/video/5g205s9ZRks/видео.html
@@TheDRMISTERY To show that not all is throwaway pop?
@@Merecir that song is throwaway pop though. Didnt know about that one, it was horrible. Another soulless, boring, producer written pop song.
There are many countries who send throwaway pop, like UK
Love it all this years ❤
I will use it for my wedding video. It was my winner that year
Amazing!
I think 1995 was one of the best years for songs in eurovison so many good songs
Childhood memories

lol euroviosion contest is about degeneracy and retardness not about "understanding the lyrics"
True, ESC was better when songs were in native language.
@@applemos6714 I think that the EBU should scrap the free language rule.
Great song.
La mejor canción de Eurovisión de 1995.Una gran balada al estilo de Sting, una música muy moderna para aquel año y un gran intérprete.
Så underbart søt❤️
Love this song.
Loved this song

winnerr !
In every other year of the 90's this would have won.
awesome
❤❤❤ a hansone fella
Best ever
Piękna Piosenka i wykonanie ❤❤❤🪷🥰
2023 & still ❤ this song
Should have won!
I don't think I'm saying stupid if I say that that was the best edition of the 90s.
Taką Szwecję na Eurowizji uwielbiam! Obecne nowoczesne na siłę utwory już mi się znudziły. Są mało szwedzkie.
'se på mej' 😭
My teacher is in the orchestra
❤️
Jan Johansen 1995 vs Tommy Körberg... Jag väljer nog Jan.
It has an 80s feel to it.. If it released a few years prior it might have won, I guess the format was considered outdated in 1995
Should have won in 1995 - without a doubt! Greetings from Norway

Better than what won that year.
En qué posición quedó este chico en Eurovisión?
I've just watched the preview video for this and boy did it ever get a glow up for the final. I disagree. Sweden adapt well musically to the times. Don’t get me wrong this is brilliant but wouldn’t do well today

Loved this song but good it did not won when sweden only gave denmark two points buh
That's not true. Sweden gave Denmark 12 points!
That being said, I'm almost certain the Scandinavian countries gave nothing to Spain that year, somewhat scandalous...
Douze points!!!
