    Tony, I’ve started sparring recently. Each round goes with a different teammate. Can you do a video on this? How to grow better at sparring, how to set goals for each session, especially if you’re a beginner? And also how do you learn from your mistakes and try to improve for the next round, for the next session? How do you use your advantages in your favor? I have long arms and throw a lot of jabs and crosses, but have a hard time when people get inside or to throw short punches combinations myself. Thank you!

      important is to keep your opponents at distance. or you can dodge to the side and need to learn also to fight in the inside. i have similar problems

    • @dropsixteentvtv4149
      @dropsixteentvtv4149 2 года назад +2

      Best way is to take drills and try to apply them in sparring and see if you're successful. If not you think of how to improve it. It would be hard to make a video on improving your sparring that's specific because everyone is different. Also start with 1 minute rounds and try to get to 3 minute rounds with 30 second breaks. You get better overall as you spar and apply the theory of the drills.

    • @dropsixteentvtv4149
      @dropsixteentvtv4149 2 года назад +2

      Also the coach and more experience teammates should be helping you. Best thing to learn is controlling your energy and boxing around your opponent by working angles.

      @@Tony_Jeffries no unfortunately only amateur. I sometimes wish I had carried on, professional boxing is a hard old game and my father said he didn't want me going through what he did. At the time I was hurt but now I realise what he meant when I think about what he went through. It wasn't like fighters today.He would sometimes be fighting every couple of weeks. There were alot if good boxers around in the 50s. One thing I'm proud of is that my father was in the first televised fight in UK, he fought middle weight world champion Dick Tiger, a Nigerian, who was like the Hagler of his time. He got stopped with a cut eye in the 8th but was cruising on points until then. One of the only times I saw my old man cry was years later when he heard Tiger had died. Boxers tend to have bonds like that I think. It was like a bit if his own history had died too. Anyway, I'm rambling 😅 Keep up the videos Tony, they are great and it's helps people to learn how to look after themselves. All the best, Paul.

    My favorite combo is a 6 3 2 or 1 6 3 2
    Gatti knockout of Joey Gamache. Right uppercut, lefthook, right hand. Gave em neurological damage. But outweighed Gamache by 19 pounds. Fixed the scale possibly just like Chavez-Andy Lee scale coulda been fixed.
    Also...jab, looping right hand(bolo) to body, then right uppercut, followed by massive left hook to liver with the weight of the 🌎 behind it.

    The first speed combination with five straight punches, Left Jab, Right Cross, Left Jab, Left Jab, Right Cross, I tried in the gym on the heavy bag today. My problem was there was always a pause after the first Right Cross, progressing to the first of the two successive Left Jabs. Hence, it was a speed combination of two punches, pause, then three punches - not the fluent, fast five punch speed combination of your combo, Tony.
    I've been trying to break down your footwork to see why you move so quickly and fluently from the first Right Cross, technique two, to the first of the two successive Left Jabs, techniques three and four of this five punch combination.
    So often I throw a Left Hook, or Left Elbow Hook, after a Right Cross - which tends to be a power shot off the back foot.
    I'm going to persist with this five straight punch combination, because it is easy to remember. I find most of your other combinations much easier to do fluently.

    Coach threw the 1-2-1-1-2 in ONE second. 00:27 - 00:28
    A lot of times, people are scared to throw long combinations because they are afraid to stay in the heat for that long, but as you can see here: when you practice enough speed, the danger to you getting caught is a very small margin (one second) obviously Tony is an exaggerated example, we're not high Olympic level, undefeated boxers. But I can bet that neither is your sparring partner 😁.
