Great stuff there coach!
I'm a kickboxing coach since many years and I tell my (beginner) students to pull up their rear hand an inch or so as they throw the jab, to combat the tendency to drop the rear hand. So you're touching the orbital bone with your knuckles at first (with rear hand) and then when the jab lands your touching the eyebrow. Your thoughts on this?
Hey Tony. Thanks for the video. I know you have a video on why you might not be landing shots, but being new I was thinking about my training the other day and had a thought. When training on the bag it’s easy to always hit but when you are sparring or working with a partner it’s almost - and probably is - as though you are not as close to the other person as you are to the bag so it feels really alien. I wondered if you could maybe do a video on this and the differences and how to work on a bag vs with someone and land shots etc. thanks
Good man tony, can you do a video setting up hooks from the jab? Great lesson as usual.
Hello tony can i have your number
As always great video, any chance you can do a video on how to be relaxed in training and in the ring instead of being uptight. Something I really struggle with!
Straight to the point and willing to show his own mistakes. Can’t tell me Tony isn’t one of the best boxing coaches.
100%
Bronze medalist 🤫
I agree....MrCambry
My Golden Gloves champ friend said this was the best he had ever seen.
He has got that rare gift of having done and being able to explain and teach it.
The epitome of the perfect coach
@@tiboga6135you don’t gotta be the absolute best boxer to be an amazing coach
@@joshuayoder7100 he is both and obviously a very decent young chap.
I have learnt more from his posts that l have from anyone else
I was guilty of both telegraphing and flicking when I started 2 decades ago. Took me a good 3 months of drilling just jabbing for me to unlearn the habit. At 41 now, I can jab a hole in a hanging piece of paper. I actual emulate Jack Dempsey's jab, which he throw both his jab and his cross with his elbows down rather then outwars.
Thanks for sharing mate, took me 6 months to avoid dropping my hands
Dude you’re literally the best boxing channel learning a lot from you I appreciate it! You deserve all your success 💯
thank you ma man ... I try hard :) appreciate this comment
thx
The flick can be used to make opponent blink and such, it's fast and can be implemented into your arsenal. Tyson fury is known to use it quite often.
it is fundamentally wrong though and a beginner should not flick the jab until he knows how to throw an actual jab.
Flicker jab is more advanced. You have no business throwin it if u cant manage a prpper jab first. Also it might also be a flicker unintentionally bc the person is bein lazy or just throwin it just to throw it.
@@brutuslutus6636 yea fair point but I'm pointing that it can still be used. And there's nothing "fundamentally wrong" different move for different purpose.
Yes if you are a PROFESSIONAL you can use it. If you are a regular athlete stuck with the regular jab.
"If you want to break the rules, you must first learn them" :)
Tony: If you're throwing a jab at me and it's having no effect...
Me: Uh-oh
Tony...I'll walk straight through your jab and beat you up with both my hands
Me: Dead
Don’t worry! Tony is not in the business of killing people but in the business of teaching people!🥊👌
me: if i punched you your brains would be on the pavement.
so dont be dumb like Joey was. those pictures of flies on the hole in his head were priceless an everyone wanted it
Lol
Read this right when he saying it😂😂
I boxed for years and this guy knows his stuff and makes it simple to understand.
I appreciate it Rand, which is your fav vid so far mate?
I LOVE that he uses a video of himself getting hit for the mistake in question.
A) It happens to us all don't lie
B) How humble is this man!?
Love these videos, especially the longer ones with the different chapters. Absolutely has helped me for the past 2 years, cheers mate!
I've boxed for a long time, but now I'm without a coach, training on my own. I love your channel and the passion and drive you put into your content. Its helped keep me sharp, and your character and enthusiasm motivate me to keep training. Love you man, keep up the great work.
You are hands down the best boxing coach on the internet mate. Legend 💪
Awesome work Tony! Your way of teaching is simple and to the point! This plus point of yours makes you unique from other boxing channels 👍👍👍👍
I'm so glad to see that I've already fixed this stuff! I realized my mistakes months ago after watching a video of me I posted... it wast too bad, but I've made ALOT of progress and improvements since then. Thanks bro! Good helpful video!
Cool. Thanks Tony.
I have been lacking on reviewing videos from work then training for boxing. I have better technique but your tips help a lot in reviewing as I like perfecting what I already know to embed it 100% in my head to where it is like second nature
❤️ Tony
I love the encouragement you give

The amount of passion and pro advices that transpires from this man is overwelming. Also, i love such a british accent, even if i'm italian ahah.
Natural, simple, enthusiastic and delivered with confidence backed up by experience a great way of instructing the core skills in boxing. As a 59 year old I have incorporated them into my fitness regime and try to learn a new tip at the beginning of the week then practice it in every session. Love the best combinations video though I was chinstrapped after practicing them. Keep up the great work it is much appreciated.
This is the reason why I searched this, this helped me improve my straights and jabs ty very much! I'm now a fan and a subscriber mate
My favorite is the “Double Jab” I focus more on different jabs than anything else.
Great video! First time seeing one of your vids. Definitely a great way to improve your jabs. Do you have one on the flicker jab like Thomas Hearns used to use?
Tony , I love learning from your videos mate they are brilliant
Love it - learning so much from your clips - please, keep them coming. Kia Ora. Respect :)
Angry Tony isn't real, he can't hurt you

You’re knowledge and passion reallly shine through, you’ve got yourself another subscriber mate
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Great again a special and informative video. I download all your videos and then do it again and again, great. Thank you...❤
Good advices man, I noticed tanks to this vid that when I upper-cut I telegraph it a little gonna fix that now💪🏽
good tips Tony, I remember learning the jab and I'm thinking "eh how easy this is, its just a straight punch" man was I wrong, I mean yeah it is a straight punch but there's so much to it that you don't see. I think my biggest problem was telegraphing (all my punches) and I spent hours and hours practicing by myself to correct that and I'm happy to say even though I'm not active any more, I'm much better at not telegraphing any of my punches, look at it this way, your jab can never be "too good". That Mayweather jab is something but my all time favorite was Sonny Liston, man what a jab! Have a good day
when i started out i would always record myself practicing just to see my mistakes, i would basically be my own coach telling myself what i need to change and work on, i think that helped me a lot with my form overall
@@juice7717 thats a very good idea

So glad I found you man never had any professional training but I feel like I have pretty good hand speed and power now
Another great one, Tony. This is No Excuses training, and it’s paying off for your fans.
Great info!!✊
Great video Tony, thanks! I was doing 3 out of the 5 mistakes you mentioned. All your content is great btw...and love your accent😄
Awesome vid really appreciate the advice you give 🙏
Solid advice!
Champion Tony, I love your description and passion for the sport 👍👍👍
Great tutorial, amll so true !! Thanks for sharing this Tony,
🤩🖐😁🖐🧡
One note , also i think not telegraphed jabs can be beautiful when its a full rapid extension where the elbow doesn't raise so much on the side, and the step really minute and supple like lifting a pancake from a small frying pans ,
I have my first amature fight coming up and I needed some tips before I went into my training camp in march and this is the best channel for tips my dad is a massive fan when he seen me watching these videos he was going crazy so happy
Great video learning everyday from your videos
This is an awesome channel. Appreciate the quality content. Class act.
Thanks for the advice I'm paying attention and it's great on the heavybag
Great vid Tony, am guilty of 2 and very guilty of 5. Will try to train myself out of it.
I quite regularly show your vids in our gym mate. You're like a tl;dr for all the stuff I'm not experienced enough to not get caught up in tangents about.
Thx.
Love videos...not too long and great tips
To find the range! Very nice Tony! I found that if a jab is practiced and used correctly it is so effective! You can really stun an opponent and keep him off balance with some quick stiff Jabs!
Thanks for your videos. ♥️
Valuable info and knowledge!!!!
I use the flick jab as a way to blind and annoy opponents into covering up to change angles or create space
THANKS MR TONY JEFFERIES . 👍. GREAT TEACHING EZY UNDERSTANDING. 👏
Keep them coming coach!
Excellent advice, this is the only type of jab that should be mandatory!!
Respect Tony 💪🏽
😂😂😂 man.... That is a good one. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hey Tony. You're absolutely awesome. I have semi retired after 4 decades of body building and this boxing stuff is incredibly awesome. Your a fantastic teacher. Thank you Tony.😆😆😆😆

Great tips!
Thank You For Your Valuable Advices Sir ...
The content is excellent and the explanations are clear. Amazing work.
Now me tryna practice these punches??? Got them jelly hits in my dreams I swear
nice that you did a recap as well as the chapters
Respect for your achievements in boxing sir! Im a fan💪
thankyou for taping and wearing good gloves on the heavy bag, 40 years a lot of people damage there hands with bag mitts and it took many years not to drop my right hand a inch before throwing a real good jab
Very well said
The fact that you included a clip of yourself throwing the lazy jab tells me everything I need to know about you, instant subscribe
Thak you Tony for these videos. I started boxing a month ago, and Im 27 years old. Love the sport
Let's go Tony. More vidssss pleaseee
Good video if you become complacent mistakes start to arise this is a good reminder
Tony, what do you think about the risk of hyper extension when snapping the jab with the arm fully extended ? Aren't we suppose to keep it a little bent so injuries won't build up over time
Don't miss lmaa
Full extension means 90 to 95% instead of being face to face to your opponent/heavy bag throwing with 50% extension. 100% is never be good due to hyper extension in case of missing the target like you said!
Good way to stoke their anger and redirect them to the mat. kudos!
Just twist as you throw
I once did that some years ago on a boxingbag, not a great experience.
Yeah bent the jab just a little, but still try to get maximum reach like Tony said
Excellent pointers.
Glad I was taught the right way to jab with my family. Family boxing for 9 generations we love it!
Really appreciate your videos Tony. Keeping me motivated and helping put right my many mistakes as I've only just started. Top lad 👍
Thank you Tony every time you put out a new vid you motivate me to find time to hit the bag..genuine guy genuine content.. thanks again
Great video man you actually touch on the purpose and not just the technique reminds of Marvin Cook, both of you are natural teachers. People forget to sharpen their sword and bring their shield then wonder why their head is getting chopped off. I think of my lead side as the shield and my rear side as the sword, as for my stance I think of myself as holding a rifle as I aim down its sights at my opponent.
Using your jab to set up shots is the same as shield bashing a sword away, all while keeping your aim steady. Dropping your hand after a jab is like dropping your rifle or, you can’t shoot back while you aren’t aiming. Can’t defend yourself or take any damage with no shield, and a weak set of armor (soft bodies). The only time you should drop your shield/rifle/sword is if you’re running away, otherwise be ready for what they have to throw your way.
Love you man❤️🥊
Great lesson about jab thanks bro. I will throw in the right way
Excellent video
He has so much paixon! I love it! A frontal from Portugal
Thank you sir
omg I love his enthusiasm and knowledge, Like boxing master wong
Brilliant !
Awesome video. Thank you so much!
No worries mate
I’m a beginner but loving these videos. Definitely improved my jab just from shadow boxing and hitting the bag!
I like the Mayweather style jab and feel like I can throw it pretty well. Not sure how disciplined I would be at keeping my hands up over a long period of time though! Will keep training 🥊
I LOVE YOURE VIDEOS BROOO YOU ARE A PRO
From now on I am going to follow you regularly...
Thank you for showing that you are vulnerable when lazy n not just being full of yourself.
Got a bag and some.gloves so started watching you the other day for the knowledge you have but keep.coming back for the accent
this really helps! I never knew I was doing it lazy haha thanks mate!
This great young has made me and all my boxing friends( and JKD ) all agree. We are VERY hard to impress but we believe in giving credit when credit due. This by far the best, apart from a highly skilled
He is also a master communicator
Well done
