- I complete the level Bowser in the Sky and collect the red coin star using 0 A presses. This is TAS. This doesn't lower the total A press count, but rather is a time improvement.
This video is an improvement from my previous video in which this was done slower ( • SM64 - Bowser in the S... ). Since then, several time improvements have been found, which are incorporated into this video:

If they didn't care about glitches, ABC runs would probably be a _lot_ easier. ;P A lot of the effort is finding a way to sneak a glitch past the checks. xD

@@MrOmegatronic The game itself was really rushed. It was released while it was halfway completed. They did planned a SM64 2 including the remaining stuff but since 64DD did not succeeded it never happened.
Just want to give my genuine thanks for continuing to upload all of this run footage. These runs are something I'd never be able to attempt myself, and it's legitimately fascinating to see all the tricks and techniques you use to pull it off. You succeed at breathing new life into a game that's over 20 years old.
With the power of all 120 stars, Mario is finally able to free himself from the accursed TAS that has bound him and celebrates by performing his beloved triple jump.
Good job Pannen. Keep up what you're doing at whatever pace you need, we're with ya.

don't worry... this can only be used for the final BitS, as it takes another a press to enter rainbow ride for another of this level. therefore, all strats involving going to bits to get a holp or something will have the remix still. :3
unless they find a way to get all the way up to RR in 0x. then we're screwed

@@hevgamer6087 The coin left over from that bob-omb is required to line up the memory slots for cloning the fire. You can see how when Mario is grabbing the exploding bob-omb and using pause buffered hitstun, he simultaneously collects that coin.

Sadly no. I thought the same thing until I read the description. However it is a much much improved version of BitS
1:02 mario's square dancing is on point
So now in order to get Stomp on the Thwomp in 2x A press optimally, you need to set a HOLP in Rainbow Road for a HOLP in BitS then enter TTC. Perfect.
Don't forget that RR takes an a press to enter, so that strat will only be used once
We set the HOLP in BitFS for a HOLP in BitS for MWttS. We set the HOLP in RR for a HOLP in BitS for SotT. We beat the game using a HOLP from BoB (TJoMB no longer requires a HOLP due to an improvement known as squish cancel (ruclips.net/video/aGCot2mi_H4/видео.html)). If there are any future stars that require a BitS HOLP, we set their HOLP in BoB too.

How to deal with 120 star HOLPs:
Use BitFS to set the HOLP in BitS for Mario Wings to the Sky.
Use RR to set the HOLP in BitS for Stomp on the Thwomp.
Use BoB to set the HOLP in BitS to beat the game.
Note: The red coins can be done using any of them.

I like how this blueprint is made for a future where having 119 stars before BitS with 0x A-presses is possible. Sure, it could be impossible, but it's charmingly hopeful to notice that detail.

I just realised that SM64DS BBC 150 star run is at 3 B presses rn on all versions with all of them being 0.5 B presses... (with 3 of them requiring to be released)
Hope SM64 will never get stuck at such position.

Thinking about how this fits into a full game run- I assume you'd do Rainbow Road last so you could just go directly from there to bowser in the sky? Would you likely combine the HOLP setup with another star, or would you need to reenter the rainbow ride pit just to do the HOLP setup?

Since it doesn't say this in the description, just know that this strat will only be useful in 120 star, because it requires an A press to go to Rainbow Ride
