I had the same problem with that generator. Fuel goes bad within 6 months even with stabilizer and gums up the carb. Once i got some carb cleaner in there and flushed it out it started again. Now i run it for 15 minutes with load every 2 months and i always make sure to drain the carb after every use and i have never had an issue since. Just used it for 8 hrs earlier this week for a power outage and it worked great.
Thanks for watching,I have also started that generator once a week and let it run its come in handy several times. Thanks again for stopping by and have a safe and Merry Christmas!
Thanks bro, This was helpful got a hurricane inbound and mine (IGEN 2500) won’t start either and I’m pretty certain it’s the carburetor, that whole process of taking apart and putting together is gonna be a nightmare for me.
@@TheKrblum I hope that everything goes well and that you are safe! It does get labor intensive to access everything but it is necessary. Thanks for watching and hope to see you next time.
Thanks for sharing this. now I need to clean up mine. It surges a little bit, i put fresh oil and new spark plug works a better but it definitely needs cleaning
Thanks for watching! If you remove the jet on the side be careful it's small. If you have wielding tip cleaners those will work,if not a bread twist tie works well also.these will work so that you don't have to remove it if you don't have to. Thanks again for watching and stay safe!
Figured out on the 3 I have (mine , Girlfriends, my dad's) that when it won't start like that, I pull the side cover off and drain a little gas out of the bowl like you did, set the choke, yank the cord 2 or 3 times and off it goes. Not sure why but works every time so far. Now one of them did have the choke linkage miss adjusted when I first got it new, adjusted it to match the other 2 and it works fine now
@@barrymorgan7297 Thanks for watching! It seems this make and model of generator has it's own individual quirks, not exactly sure why but everyone seems to have to do something alittle different to get them going. Thanks again and hope to see you next time.
@@tgrant74 Thanks for watching! I appreciate the heads up! So far I haven't had any problems with the generator but if I do I'll keep in mind! Thanks again and hope to see you again soon 😊
There is also a jet on top of carburetor under governor controller. You can remove bolts from carburetor by double nutting 2 10mm nuts. I leave the fuel line a throttle cable hooked up. I just roll carburetor over on it's side and remove bowl and clean all 3 jets. When storing i drain the whole system empty
@@jjohnston6645 Thanks for the heads up on the 3rd jet! I'll have to try and get back to it when I can get to it. Thanks for watching and as always keep on tinkering

I bought the iGen 2800 on October 10 brand new never started needed it today put some Rec-90 fuel in it put oil in it and cranked it up ran all of 5 minutes and fell on its face and now won’t start back customer service is terrible had to get Amazon involved thankfully they are sending a replacement potentially bad gas? @@MeltonIndustries Thanks for watching! I'm not sure on the fuel type, I run non ethanol in mine after cleaning carb and have not had a problem yet. Hacksaw blade takes out the vertical plastic frame support and carb is east access. It doesn’t affect the integrity of the unit.

Those generators always gum up from stale gas. I have a Honda with same issues. They require constant start-ups to avoid that problem. 😃👍
