I have the same thoughts about these back pressure lifts - I just wanted to win the comp but if I tried to armwrestle using that angle where im pivoting off my elbow, it makes me a dumb armwrestler who’s vulnerable to having a multitude of angles taken advantage of.
The weights I’m moving to be a better armwrestler, when utilising the back pressure are far lower.
In addition to this, doing weights slowly and squeezing doesn’t apply as much for me personally either - every lift needs to be explosive while staying tight. Even though lifting it slower yields WAY bigger numbers and ego for me, I’ve found that to translate weights in general to the armwrestling table, I need to do them explosively.

That's what I love about arm wrestling. All you need to do is break a link in the chain and it negates everything else. Michael Todd is a great example because his lack of range of motion and his specific strength in one area attack the pinky and ring finger. Just by applying counterbalance to those two fingers, it breaks the chain of guys much stronger than him, and once it's compromised the whole chain weakens.
John made a career of cracking guys who were physically stronger by his ability to adapt and get into positions that favored him to break their chain.

Nothing compares to actual table movements I have been in a wicked funk with tournaments lately.... confidence in my strength and applying my power. its all there with weights but armwrestling movements are so hard to replicate on a table with cables and bands and its a must to keep it strict and true to the match setting. @TheBrocktonBlockbust 3 года назад +2

@@dethkl0k I think that Rob is right on the application part, but I still think that people that can lift the same load but for a bigger excursus are "stronger". Is it true that force produced is the same, but the impulse (force x time) is not. The super short distance like in Lachlan lift which is barely moving, means that he reached 72.5 Kg just for a super brief moment. Instead Levan could apply the same force for x amount of time.
This makes a difference like in Levan Vs Laletin when they were stuck in the middle for some seconds but in the end Levan prevailed. Laletin strength just started to go down, so lower impulse.
      This is my 2 cents.

Really good video RVJ. I will say though, I think sometimes those weird angles can work on the table and throw someone off their game. Your last video mentioning that people shouldn't listen to everyone they come across telling them what to do and how to armwrestle resonates with me and is relevant to this because maybe that 1 guy in Russia has this obscene angle and body posture that is not applicable to 99% of the armwrestling population and he might not beat a lot of people at many angles, but you get into his angle, get into his groove and he destroys you and I think there is merit in that. He could develop a game based all on that angle and move. Will it make him better than most people or able to beat anyone? Probably not. That's just my 2 cents.
