- We sometimes get consumed by bigger displacement, power and torque. It's nice to go back where we started and experience smaller bikes.
This is not my bike, belongs to a friend who uses it to commute in town.
If the steering is heavy or it doesn't corner very well, the tyre pressure is probably too high.
Mine came with 34psi front and rear and it was not a pleasant ride, I let them down to the recommended 18psi and it absolutely transformed the bike.
The gearbox is a little clunky, but the ride is like floating on air. They look super cool and handle beautifully - perfect learner bike imo.
my first bike was a vanvan, absolutely fell in love with it. had it for 2 years then went to a bandit. honestly i'd love to get another one, so much fun just to throw about.
Hey Guys !
I have a VanVan too and i love this thing !
everyone who wants to buy it should do it.
The seat is very comfortable for long trips .
I drove 113 km/h on the Autobahn and i loved it !
The first ride is very exhausting because it is realy hard to handle
the giant tires if you drove a bike with small tires before
, but after a while it became easier and easier.
I love mine and if i had the chance to travel back in time , i would
buy it again :D
greetings from Germany !
113Km/h?!?!? Going downhill!!!
@@harryzikinaGTDmay be a 200
To truly appreciate this bike you have to see one in person pictures online do not do it justice i cant wait to get mine!
I totally agree lol, my friend sue has one, I also agree with the video... It has a very peculiar feel when riding, not one of my fav riding styles, but... still a bike after all!
Better than the KTM or the BMW, hands down. Get this. Just awesome power at low rpms and good looking too... and that padlock is probably heavier than the bike, take that off and you get 100hp more.
That padlock is to stay forever with the bike. The owner can't find the key :)
RoyalJordanian new version of bar end weight stops it floating away
RoyalJordanian Well that's a shame, he would experience power in its essence.
Im sorry but what padlock means? Thank you
Alex Mardini Do you see a lock on the handlebar to the left? That is...
This was actually really relaxing to watch
125's are the perfect fun town bike, it's only when you go/live out of town when they are much more vulnerable, which is why I upgraded from A1 to A licence.
Getting one next month, looks like a lot of fun to ride!
I love small bike for around town! I think they'd be well worth having as an extra bike in the garage.
I did my CBT on one of these, great little bikes! If they sold the 200 version over here I wouldn't mind one myself :)
RJ.
I remember looking at the VanVan.
I always thought they were great but a good one was a bit more than I wanted to pay.
I then found a Baby Varadero and I was in love and it was far cheaper. Got a great deal!! Sold it on and actually made money. I like that :-)
I would love a go of another Baby Vara. I loved that bike, folks used to ask me how I could ride a 600 on L's :-)
The two bikes I've loved more than anything I've owned are my baby Vara, and my VanVan! Best 125's to ever exist
Great to see you on this. I ride an 8 year old Honda innova 125 in the winter for my commute (check my commuting clips) and it does the job perfectly fine. There's a lot of prejudice though against it from other bikers which is a shame. I ride my big bike in the summer and weekends. These little things can be fun too!
Had mine from 2004 still got it 23.000 miles never had no problems with it best bike I have had
I was always interested in what the VanVan was like. 125cc bikes are generally overshadowed as learner bikes when they can be much more than that. Taking the L-Plates off was a fantastic moment!
Well I've got a 1520cc Valkyrie but I still love these little bikes and am considering getting one as a second fun bike.
I had one of these a while back, and I loved it for what it was. Did 10,000 miles in six months on it.
that muffled stock exhaust makes the vanvan sound so nice in high and mid rpms
Nice little bike. I bet it's great to ride around the city
Hands down, thanks for no shit music . Finally someone. Thanks man. I want that bike to start to Drive with gears
I think that this bike sounds quite nice for a 125. Great commuter.
You're welcome to have a ride on my MSX 125 too, RJ!
I did my practical exam of the license with this bike! Same model and color!
Hello RJ! Nice little ride. What do you mean by "It behaves and handles in a different way to a normal bike"? Can you be more specific please? I like this ride, I want it for my first motorbike but it's kinda expensive. I love Yamaha TW125/200 and it's more accessible and it's the same at specs. Please, can you explain me why you don't recommend to a first bike? Thank you very much man! I love the sound of H Nuda and not only the sound... Greetings from RO.
I just bought 2 RV90's on ebay, going to restore them. Can't wait to pick them up, cool to see you having a ride on the bigger brother, I'll be converting the motor to a bit bigger, more reliable model.
haha what a machine!! Thanks for the ride, enjoyed it! :)
Fantastic little bike. There are videos on yt of people taking vanvans on trips around the world.
3:18 I would have shat myself
Same
That moment, squeezing up the inside of a large vehicle, and trapping yourself between another, was a textbook example of how NOT to conduct yourself urself on the road. Accidents happen when such poor decisions are made and when you make it hard for other drivers to see where you are in relation to them.
The first thing I had to do was turn the volume up.
Great little bike, looks like you had fun riding it.
The 'Chiswick Flyover" !!! I have not been down that road for forty years. It has not changed much..........
thank you! on utube not often seen this bike in urban traffic, rather than on a country road
I'am Suzuki Van Van RV200 rider ^_^
biomozgjele me too
Congratulations on not dying or killing anyone on this ride.
I want to get a licence this year and the VanVan is/was on my "first bike" list, so thanks for the infos about it!
Blimey I thought that bus was going to squish you! That padlock is a beast.
I'd like to see you review the bike I plan on getting...
Nice to see you on some different bikes. The seat on that one looks really comfy. The VanVan looks similar to the TW200 (T-Dub) they sell here.
Great little bike I had the tw 125 which is near on the same in everyday so much fun on the little thing and handles pretty well off road too
Great to see you on a Van Van! I love my RV125!
I learned to ride on a Suzuki 125, the thing was old as hell and only worked half the time, but great to learn on :)
I used to have one of these! :) was my first ever bike in 2010 loved it to bits
filtering does look tricky and ongoing strategy that my have unpleasant results if one makes any errors or others make hasty moves. thanks for information.
Ireally like the sound, nice little bike!
Very nice. You dont have to go big to be better.. ty for posting.
Cool little bike.
Always enjoy riding my 125 in winter once my Street Triple R gets tucked away for the winter. Just have to adjust to less power and less brakes
My friend lost his life on one of these about a month ago, sadly not his nor the bikes folt.
Sorry to hear that.
Thanks buddy, no idea why but only just had your notification come though :0
Sorry to hear that :( mind sharing what happened? I'd like to learn how to ride and get a bike but videos of crashes and comments puts me off of it :/
Dont let it put you off mate, sadly if you look on the news a bikers are took out every day. My friend was coming down a hill quite slow, went around a blind bend and a 4x4 with a trailor was reversing out onto a main road, my friend swerved on the otherside of the road to miss it, but hit a oncoming car head on.
Dont let it put you off mate, it hasnt me. Just ride safley, and have your witts about you.
This is crazy ive been watching you fir ages and I aksi have a vanvan 125
RJ - the filter King!
I was looking at the Van Van and the Yamaha tw125 as a small bike to take my CBT and test on then use to tootle around on.I couldn't afford one so i went for the test on a training company's Suzuki GN 125. I soon realised that i couldn't get on with such a lightweight bike so i bought a 1982 Honda CM 250TB in bits off ebay cheap.
I think they are lovely little bikes :)
Wonderful... I love this bike...
These were everywhere in Japan. Wish we could get them in Aussie.
After listening to the sound of the Nuda in the countryside, listening to this feels like there's something missing. Nothing against 125's, it's all I've owned so far
Lol I done my CBT on one of these :)
My opinion is, no matter how ugly, old, ridiculous, stupid or underpowered, I freaking gotta ride them all. To me all bikes are fun in their own way and if I had the money of an Arab, I'd have a warehouse full of all types of bikes.
Excellent review of the brilliant Vanvan RJ. I bought one brand new in 2010 and its sitting in my garage with just 3500 miles on it, I can't bear to sell it as its a lovely machine and looks very retro, I've not ridden it for a year now I have my ninja650 .
This bike is one f the few these days that is still made in Japan too.
I'm on the Vanvan forum website, check it out as the guys on there are brilliant (my name there is Vanvan cleef)
Your mates one will be a carb model but the newer generation like mine are fuel injection models and the engines are virtually bullet proof.
Can you ask your mate what name that padlock is , I could use one of them for sure.
Orca - the 200 is only sold is Japan but despite a fee more HP than the 125 there's not much power difference.
Overall this is a great 2nd bike (if you use it lol)
Nice little Suzuki, i started with a Kawasaki GA2-A 2 stroke 90cc, so that Suzuki is a big bike :)
If it’s good enough for RJ, it’s good enough for me….that’s it, after looking at everything including the Grom and the TU250, I’ve made up my mind…this will be my first bike as these will be the roads I’ll be riding…and nearly all will have traffic and some form of speed camera on it 😂
Great Video, great Comments in the Video and great driving, Thumbs up!! Thx for this, i like this bike and i´m looking for a testdrive next week. Cheers Mate
+Mainswitch55 Update: Ordered mine today, will be delivered on May 13! :-)))
It's good to see all types and engine sized bikes, commuting. Similarly, we might see Prince Andrew on a 125 one day? Needs some of your work on the exhaust noise, though. :)
Ace bikes, all the more so because of the unusual styling. The 200cc version is even better with a (very) handy extra dollop of power. Pretty robust too when they get dropped ;)
You should try the Yamaha YBR125 if it's available there - has bicycle like tires and is very easy to steer. Same power as the VanVan. Great bike.
I want it.
oh wait, wrong video X(
The vid is right, I have ridden a vanvan before and they do have a weird feeling to them lol when riding, I personally think it's mostly due to the riding pos which I'm not a whole fan of, but at the end of the day... A bike is a bike, it's better than nothing :P
Cool bike
the VanVan !! that's the first motorcycle i've ever tried to ride !! it was funny :)
Really nice bike.
Great video RJ! Did any else spot 'booty food & wine' at 2:33?
LOVE It 💓
No Bark, but a little Bite ;)
Nice one RJ !!!
I agree about the handling though. Going from this for CBT and then a CB500 for DAS was interesting :)
Great little bike and nice riding!
I found the big tyres made it feel more stable in the corners than something like the ybr. It did mean you had to be a bit more brutal with it though as it would scrub off speed very quickly.
For a learner, it's a good machine as having to wrestle it around teaches positive input into the handle bars equates to faster turning.
Would I buy one? No. At 6', I was just too bloody big for the thing!
I'm 6" and it's great for me
I was going to get one of them, great little quirky things
Hello, it's a shock, is not it? I ride a Harley-Davidson 883 and I just bought a Yamaha TW 125. Place a large displacement to that, it is not nothing. However, I take pleasure to ride, especially in the city. It is thin, light and fun. Not need a big power for what I do with. This is a good alternative to large custom in narrow places. After, with a supermotard, I do not know if it worth it to.
that lock on the handlebars :D nice vid as always :)
Dat gigantic lock....
125cc is nice for first bike. Its not really fast but the power of it is easily under control, since it doesnt have much. Soon when you get better driver, it starts feeling kinda weak and slow :-)
300cc motorbikes have a lot more power, usually enough for long time.
Once i tried 900cc husqwarna bike and it has so much power that it feels like you are pulled by a dragster lol
well that was relaxing!
Ah the disc lock on the bars, just like my DT :D
I did my CBT on one and loved it so I bought it of the test center haha
@ 3.15 not cool from the bus driver :( then the chase was on and you can mess with the KING of Filtering
Very nice ride
Thumbs up
I guess vanvan's sales gonna skyrocket in the next few days.
RJ, what motorcycle would you recomend as a first one then?
The 125 that could.
I have learned to ride on this bike! :D
Sweet bike.
i remember riding this bike for my driving license exam XD
You must try and pass more buses and trucks on the left.It looks good on You Tube in colour!
Nice vid as always :) you should test ride the Yamaha MT 07 to see what u think?... That's my next bike.... What's yours? ;)
Would make a great base for a cafe racer conversion.
sweet ride, broha!
I learned to ride on one, thought they were great bikes
You undertook the undertaker!
The immediately recognisable, unmistakable, gigantic squares of Suzuki rear view mirror.
So great is the reduction in drag when they are removed you gain 20hp at the wheel, so it is told.
Doing my CBT in 2 weeks. Suggestions on a first bike, 125cc? I've ridden one of the 'pit bikes' when I was 15/16 for a few months, I'm 22 now. Bored of my car, excited to hell to start riding. I live in the UK.
7:19 what is a Australian built ford falcon doing in London. They never mass exported these cars.
Ahhh the joys of London traffic.......All at a standstill , in their overhyped carsssss....id remove the baffle , did it with a xt350 yonks ago and the downpipe was so short flames came out of it......Loud , yes as in very ! put dismantled baffle back on after 3 weeks as it was too fricking LOUD .
Small bikes r always good for commute considering the fact that smaller body, weight and economy. But a bit sucks when u r trying to overtake, very underpowered compared to 600
but if you want a 125 commuter, what are the advantages of this over a cbf 125 or ybr 125, probably none and honestly prob worst on fuel to... pointless unless you like the styling and lets be honest, it doesn't look to great from any angle
You block out the number plate but you can see it in your visor.
Great bike, I'd love to have a TW200 or TW225 tho.
