It's a slow build of several years, taking Christmas and birthdays into account. I only buy the ones I really want, and there are a lot of cheaper books I skip out on.
Lots of beautiful books. I’ve got to restrain myself from buying more because I have too many waiting for me. So I enjoy seeing books I don’t have and feeling like I have a bigger collection than I do. 😂

As a teenager I remember tracing Disney characters and then doing some really simple shading on them with Crayola color pencil. I also dabbled in a lot of digital painting, but color was much easier for me than drawing. I remember when Johanna Basford’s first book came out and I thought it was such a cool idea, but I didn’t really buy any books until a few years after that.
FYI: You can buy Colouring Heaven issues at Walmart and Barnes and Noble. At least, that's been my experience. Buying back issues from the publisher won't set you back too much.

Hi and welcome! I'm sure Johanna does have a book she looks at when she wants to draw a specific species! But she has admitted herself in several of her live videos that most of her flowers are from her imagination. Even the ones she does draw based on real species are extremely stylized. Some colorists instinctively go to color combinations that feel realistic or "right." I feel her floral illustrations lend a lot of leeway to experimenting with fantasy color combinations "guilt-free," per se.

I was able to order a copy in may on etsy. I was lucky to get it but the quality of the paper is much worse than we are used from eriy normally
