On November 9, 2023, EHESS was honored to welcome Svante Pääbo, paleogeneticist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Medicine, to the Musée de l'Homme for the 42nd EHESS Marc Bloch Lecture.
In this lecture, entitled "Archaic genomics" or how Neanderthal genetic variants influence human populations today, Svante Pääbo presents his work on DNA and its impact on a better understanding of migratory flows, past social stratifications and the genetic diversity of populations.
Considered the man who revolutionized the human family tree, Svante Pääbo opens up a broader dialogue between the social and experimental sciences.
