"A Neandertal Perspective on Human Origins" by Prof. Svante Paabo
Friday, May 24, 2019
Prof. Svante Pääbo presents his lecture, "A Neandertal Perspective on Human Origins", where he discusses methods to retrieve DNA from ancient bones and other tissue remains as well as sediments found at archaeological excavations.
Genomic analysis of neanderthal bones unexpectedly reveals a hitherto unknown extinct Asian hominin group related to Neandertals, named “Denisovans.”
Prof. Pääbo highlights the genetic discoveries made, and what they tell us about the evolution of modern humans. - Наука
So happy he finally won the Nobel, so richly deserved. More collaborative science and less war. Let that be our future.
i love this guy - i was watchin gis lecures for half of decade or more. this is amaizing !!!!! i love u Svante!!!
Cool thanks mate
I am so behind on these lectures. So much great science, so little time.

in this graphic that he usses - looks like chimps evolved after neaferthals?
No, it branches before (it goes from top to bottom).
@@danielm81 yes yes u roght on this graph - in end....but mb i comented here but i looked on differnt graph - there was a time line on axis X and there ware these dase lines - and i saw that chimps branched away ok - like on this graph in the end of video, but its shows that chimps became actual chimps after neandertal become neandertal. do u undestand? chip line branched and human branched - but chims became chimps - after neandertals became neandertal. we bacame human a like earlier than chips became chips - undestand?)
@@user-po8ke5vh2e look it that way: it doesn't matter where the picture is - only the point where these two lines merge. Hope it helps! :)
@@danielm81 so its no matter the time line. ok. but did chimps become chimps faster then humans become early human?
