Donald Trump makes me laugh if it wasn't for the fact this is the reality we have. I am a huge 2nd amendment supporter too, I also support our constitution as the way it was written. What's your point Trump?

My ex wife and I went through the divorce and half way through she filed a restaining order on me because I went to my house where I lived to get my birth certificate and she claimed I scared her because i knocked on the door to ask for it and give the kids a hug and a kiss and because she wouldnt answer and i knocked hard she said she was scared and put a restraining order and they took my guns just because she claimed something happened... Mind u I was found not guilty because I had the whole ordeal recorded and within 15 mins of being in that court room the judge knew she was trying to one over me and he denied her a restraining order because it was obvious.. Now she has since then took her child that I raised from me and shes not ever allowed to see me again but yet I have custody of our son and she pays me child support.. But the simple fact that she ran her mouth my constitutional rights were taken because of a false statement... So stupid....

Due process? One has to be indicted for an offense before due process. This man clearly knows almost nothing about the law. While I don't own a gun and have no desire to do so last I heard there was no law banning full private ownership of firearms.

You may want to check out The Patriot Act brought about after 911 by George W Bush. It basically negates our constitutional rights. After the Boston marathon bombing law enforcement infringed on nearby neighbors constitutional rights in a big way.

Nowhere in any of this conversation was there talk of taking guns from citizens that are sane.
Not only this, but "the focus" was leaning toward family members with local law enforcement casually tied to the question.
Family members have a first-hand view of the mental state of the individuals in question and local law enforcement is there to serve and protect.
I would hope that local law enforcement would take someones gun when they see a threatening situation unfold.

Executive orders have no actual impact on state laws in general or most federal laws beyond persons working for the federal government. Basically, if you don't work for the federal government, an executive order doesn't actually apply to you.

The whole conversation was about people that are a danger to themselves and others and especially when people and groups have known a person was dangerous and has been documented either by law enforcement, schools, health officials and did nothing but the kid or adult went out and shot up a school. Trump is saying if somebody is a risk they should Have their firearms removed first then if found to be okay and mentally stable then they can have them back. The reasoning probably so they don’t get the opportunity to commit a serious crime on their way out.

The part that worries me about it is anyone could say your a danger to yourself and others and exactly how do you defend your self against family members who may have a bone to pick with you? I understand why it would be done but I do not think it would be fair.

Dale Phye the Dems can’t just declare people to have a mental illness. There are strict guidelines on these subjects and they have to be passed through the medical field first then up to congress. They can’t just Willy nilly make someone crazy for no reason.

Cathy DePoy agreed. People are so dumb. I don’t agree with red flag laws at all. But in this case where law enforcement knew he was threatening people and did nothing about it because of due process, the man was able to commit the crime before his court date. If someone has substantial proof that someone is endangering others or themselves with a weapon of any sorts, then they should have their weapons taken away that they were threatening to use. The President wasn’t speaking of taking anyone’s rights away or getting rid of due process for law abiding citizens. But don’t go around threatening people with your weapon and then crying when they take it away. That’s what the question was related to. Not the rights of citizens. If people would get their head out their ass and start paying attention to the terms being used then they would understand the question he answered. And he was right.
