Long bed because it is more practical for a truck. I want a truck you can haul lumber with etc. Also, the long bed is great for towing because of the longer wheel base. The bad...off roading and parking are not so good with LB. Looks....in the eye of the beholder.
Currently have a 14 TRD off road shortbed, but when I upgrade to one of the newer models in years to come I’ll most likely go longbed due to camping trips and needing every bit of space I can.
We use our pickups for work and play, so a 6’ bed is mandatory. Try sleeping in a 5’ bed, or hauling topsoil, firewood in the grocery getter 5’ bed. I Love my 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the premium and technology pkgs.
I’ve had 1st and 2nd gen short beds. I hated the limited space. Now I have a 3rd gen LB and I’m happy. If it’s only a daily driver, or you want to rock crawl (tight turns or need the short wheel base) - get a short bed. If you actually use it as a truck, overland (don’t care about tight turns on a trail) and have a family (lots of storage needed for camping) - long bed. Or if you intend to sleep in it…..long bed. Stock looks better short. 35’s and a 3” lift……long bed all day….
In my opinion the short bed looks short and nubby. The long bed looks more proportioned, like a truck is suppose to look. That's just looks. It depends what you need it for
The 6ft are useful , but the only reason why I got the 5ft is because , it’s much easier to park into the garage and still have some room to walk around around it .
Just depends what you use your truck for. For me, haul a quad, pull a camper. I need the space. I also think the long bed drives nicer, but your talking to a previous tundra driver, if you can't park a tundra, don't buy a long bed, buy the short bed!
I drove a 2006 access cab 6’ bed since high school, going on 13 years now. 215k miles and still running stronger than ever. With that said my new 5’ double cab sport MT is way more practical for me, and especially for a car seat. Plus Toyota doesn’t make a 6’ double cab in a manual !
I have seen several Tacoma long beds…lifted 33’s ..and they look “Awesome “. Especially with 6 inch lift.. Off it is a personal choice…I do carry loads…so it works for me…
I have owned a nissan frontier 2011 short bed lifted 8in with 35s in my opinion it looks a like a toy lol. Now, I own a Toyota Tacoma 2016 Long Bed & planning on lifting it 4.5inches with 35s. For a truck use moving furniture or large stuff like beds/couches helping a friend out. A longer bed forsure helps out alot you feel more confident once the tailgate is closed. And plus you can camp in your truck bed comfortably and have a buddy heater plus some gear in your truck bed.
After 42 years of Toyotas with 6 foot beds I got the short bed last summer. I'm gonna miss the extra length occasionally, but I can haul four adults in a pinch and the fold- down seats add a lot of cargo room. It's just a trade-off according to your likes and needs. I also prefer the looks of the short bed.
My 2014 Taco 4x4 is perfect. Five foot bed, double cab. I took the seats out since my ability to store necessary things far outweighs unnecessary passengers. If you want a true work truck, you don’t buy a Tacoma. The Tacoma is for getting wherever you really need to go, and can do basic truck things, and go anywhere. Oh, it lasts forever. I have a 10 foot trailer for the other stuff.
I got a 2017 with a 6 ft bed and I wouldn't trade it for a 5 ft. The short bed looks funky to me. Doesn't look like a proper truck. I carry alot of tools for construction so the extra 12" is worth it for me. But that is my opinion. To each there own.
I think the shortbed looks better than the long bed, but I need the longer bed. So I suppose the looks dont matter a whole lot, the difference isnt that much. Got my fishing poles, kayaks, etc.
Just seeing this video. I have a deposit down on a TRD Sport. I told the sales guy that I would go either way LB or SB. I can make either work for me in reality. I have never had a short bed and I do use my truck for hauling things so I am a bit worried about the 5' length. But, I have a Thule rack that works great for carrying my ladders and longer material so that isn't an issue. We have three kayaks that I carry regularly and in my current Taco (Access cab, 6' bed) the boats sit on my tailgate which I don't love. I think that with a load extender, this issue is not a problem and probably works better with a short bed. Parking on the other hand is probably what I am most concerned about with the longer overall vehicle size. As far as looks I waffle back and forth. So I am going to see what the Toyota Allocation Gods offer me in 3 to 6 months. If they present me with only one or the other then that makes it easy for me. If I had to make a decision I think I'd have to choose the short bed. I hope someone else decides for me.
Hey I got a really important question and hopefully you see this 🙏 But where did you get the key chain that has your old truck on it that’s on your rear view mirror I’d love to do the same for my 1st 1994 Toyota Pickup. 🙏
Short bed all the way unless it's extended cab, 4 door short bed only. Short bed comes in manual transmission and thats why I wouldn't consider a long bed
@@OfficialAing I thought about it lol but I want them both it’s a 2019 392 Daytona less then 15000 I had it built for my 40th birthday but somewhere along the way I fell in love with the Tacoma’s lol
@@littlekennytv5668 two very different worlds, let just trade lol kidding but one day I wanna lease one for a weekend fun car 👍 I’m sure you’ll make the right choice 😎
Long Bed or Short Bed which are you?
Short in my opinion it looks better but is less practical
Short… I don’t need the larger bed size and I think the short bed looks much better
Long In my access cab 4x4
Long bed because it is more practical for a truck. I want a truck you can haul lumber with etc. Also, the long bed is great for towing because of the longer wheel base. The bad...off roading and parking are not so good with LB. Looks....in the eye of the beholder.
Long bed
Put a camper shell on the short bed, you got what’s call a 4Runner lol.
Lb all the way!
That’s true…but throwing heavy gear in the back of the short bed won’t tear up the carpet like a 4runner 🤷🏼♂️

Long bed way to Go if you are active/ outdoors individuals plus hauling cargo long bed helps. Piece of mind

Short bed for me. Long is more difficult to maneuver and wouldn’t fit in my garage👍
Long bed gang
I agree! Short bed looks way cooler than the longbed.

Gotta love long bed with a camper , lot of space for ur 👩🦰

I got my off road, in army green and with long bed. Had to wait a month to get it, and opted for the long bed because why not get the extra storage

Short beds I have trailers if need be. Not in it for looking different than some truck
I have a 2016 short bed and I don’t need the extra room in the longer bed, but I honestly they both styles are cool.
I use my truck bed almost daily. I haul some pretty large items so it’s 6’ for me.
I have a small garage I wanted the double cab so got the short bed and it just fits
Yea I think that’s the most common thing I am seeing!
Also if you wanted to put a tent on the back he needed 6 ft bed although they do make 5 ft but I'm longer than a 5-ft bed.
Reminds me of a contractor truck the short bed looks like a ripped biceps
I have the short bed. Sometimes I wish I had the long bed but oh well. I still love the short bed look.
Put a 6-in lift and 35's on a long bed and it will look way better than the short bed would.
Long bed 2020 TRD sport. 👍🏼
I think the long bed just looks more like a truck.
personally i prefer my 2006 short bed tacoma TRD because it is a manual and the long bed tacoma does not have a manual transmission .
I live in Italy we don't have double cab long bed here 😭😭😭 You can't find them here, maybe only new ones
Long bed to fit my various toys.
Every one that has gotten a short bed ends up regretting it eventually
I have the long bed tacoma looks so better then the short bed don't like the looks of short bed
Hey I got a really important question and hopefully you see this 🙏
But where did you get the key chain that has your old truck on it that’s on your rear view mirror

Definitely a short bed. The long bed just looks too long and awkward IMO 😎
Short bed, because that's the only way to get a manual transmission in a Tacoma. I have a trailer for hauling long items.
Long bed! A bicycle won't fit in the back of a short bed.
The double cab with the long bed just looks to long it’s like a school bus
😂😂😂 i can see that!
Short bed all the way unless it's extended cab, 4 door short bed only. Short bed comes in manual transmission and thats why I wouldn't consider a long bed
Long Beds ride a lot better
Bro dump this while the market is hot and get in a new tundra, then pay it off in a couple years and trade that for the new Tacoma when it comes out.
Why 4 trucks in 2 years ?
1st one I wasn’t happy with and was able to trade out 2nd was in an accident 3rd gotta more than I paid for 4th well here we are!
Long bed looks better on a tacoma
In canada is cheaper to get the 6ft bed then the 5ft
Short bed is for girls🤷🏽♂️🤣
Long bed for me. I carry sport bikes...
Long bed for the win👍💪
Went short bed simply because you can't get a M/T in a long bed configuration!
4 Toyota tacos 🌮 since 2019! ? 😮.
are you leasing all your Tacomas? You should buy a Tacoma outright …imo 🤷🏼♂️
I’m hopefully getting ready to purchase my Tacoma and I thought I want a 6 foot bed but now I’m sure I want short bed
Sweet! I see that charger in your Pic….you switching out of that beast?
@@OfficialAing I thought about it lol but I want them both it’s a 2019 392 Daytona less then 15000 I had it built for my 40th birthday but somewhere along the way I fell in love with the Tacoma’s lol

Short bed looks better but if you need to haul stuff then get the long bed
Lord knows I don't need another 12 inches. I went with the short bed.
Have and extended cab and long bed people looking for work trucks short beds are useless and the double cab and long bed just looks off
Short bed all the way
I agree!!!!
Plus interest
Lb all day long
Hope I win the 3 thousand dollars!! 😀
Short bed 💯
I'm surprised you haven't traded it in yet like all Millennials do they mod the heck out of it and then they get tired of it and get another one
I plan on keeping this one 👍
Salty old man
Toyota is not real truck
