I love the way the guys jump up and down with the audience without given a jot about anything other than having a good time. Status Quo the most unpretentious band in the world.
RHINO NO WAY QUO MUSIC WENT DOWN THE LOO ,,WHEN THEY GOT RID OF ALAN ,TO BRING IN A BIG DONKEY LIKE HIM INTO QUO ,,BIG COUNTRY WOULD OF BEEN BETTER FOR HIM
Never mind Big Jazez Cuntry, send the talentless lump of SHITE back to Dexy's ,where he came from.....and bring Ur sawn off bass with U, U nob end...Quo died when Lanc left and bringing Bimbo Edwards in to replace him would be like having Boy george reploace Lemmy in Motorhead...can't even LOOK at quo with him in it Tubbs
ALAN CHARLES LANCASTER otherwise known as NUFF, has passed away in Sydney, his home for 45 years. The founding member and the backbone of STATUS QUO had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Alan battled on bravely, performing at QUO's Reunion gigs in 2013 and 2014. Even though he had MS, Alan's performance and his vocals were the strongest of the three. My favourite member of QUO is Alan Lancaster. I had the pleasure of having a beer and a smoke with Alan at a Sydney pub gig, in Five Dock, when he had The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster/Brewster Bands in the late 80's. We had a longer chat at The Lewisham Hotel as well. These were dirty, grungy hotels, though this didn't phase the great man of the people. Alan was the most beautifil man, very humble, down to earth and a great guy to talk with and have a laugh. Vale Alan ( Nuff ) Lancaster RIP mate, you were one of the greatest Rockers of all time.
Alan Strom Francis and Rick started taking a lot of drugs like cocaine and that affected their individual mentality. Alan said in a long interview, that Francis wanted to control the Band. Francis got Pip Williams to Produce RAOTWorld in 1977, without consulting the Band. Francis had secret ambitions to move the Band in a different direction musically. This became more prevalent in 1982 and 1983 by which time Alan was only just hanging on. In Alan's long interview he said it would have cost him too much in legal fees to fight for his rights. All through the Band's existence there were songs that Alan had written, yet the Record Company and Francis decided that Alan wouldn't sing. This came to a head on the Back to Back album. Plus, as any real QUO supporter knows, Francis loves Country music, and that's OK, as long as he did it under his own name. Both Francis and myself have a passion for 'Already Gone ' by The Eagles, however that is a Country Rock song and to me it's a very cool tune. However, ' Marguerita Time' is a disgusting and revolting tune which Francis insisted on recording and releasing under the banner of Status Quo. Alan said that it was too embarrassing for him to be associated with and he left the Band that he formed in 1962. There were other serious issues that affected Alan which were weighing heavily upon him. There were royalty issues and poor management problems which were either out of his control or too expensive to fight. 'Marguerita Time' was the straw that broke Alan's back. Unfortunately, Alan lost the part of the court case whereby Rossi and Parfitt were allowed to keep the Band name. After all, it was Alan's Band. Selfishly on my behalf, I and my mates got to see Alan in his various Hard Rock Bands in Sydney, Australia. He was so cool, that he hung out with the crowd after the gigs. I hung out with him quite a few times, had a smoke and a beer with him at several pub venues. Lancaster and Coghlan were QUO's engine room.
Parfitt came to a biker pub at west Croydon ,the cartoon, I and many other HA saw him with 2 blonde bimbos out of his head on some drug push his way to the bar and demanded a drink, we grabbed him and threw him out, he staggered back to his limo , yes he was good in the band , but he and Rossi should never of been allowed to keep the band name, everyone praises Rossi and parfitt but what about coughlan and Lancaster, those 2 get my RIP.
One of the rare occasions that Rick plays Lead Guitar. He plays Lead at the end of RAOTWorld as well. Rick and Francis are two of the best Singers and Guitarists of all time.
I was under the balcony at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1980 when they played this. Honestly thought it was coming down. Best live band I've ever seen.
I was a couple of rows in front of you, Alan's side
I love the way the guys jump up and down with the audience without given a jot about anything other than having a good time. Status Quo the most unpretentious band in the world.

This would've been not long after Spud had left the Band.
What was the guitar rick was playing in the video
After a quick glance at the headstock my first tought was 'Ovation'; it seems that he indeed played an Ovation Viper,
Ah the good old days, keyboards barely audible not like todays gigs this is the Quo sound fair enough no Spud but at least Nuffs there
Sad that Pete just could it do so good at the end
Fuckin Quo At Their Peak ! Gonna Fuckin let My Fuckin Hair Grow ! NOT !
