Just ordered one today! This is what I’ve been looking for, I can’t wait to put it on my 5.56 and get out a review. Keep up the great work Vortex.
That's awesome - we really appreciate it! Let us know what you think of it.
These look great. Finally a fixed scope without picatinny rail. Finally a company moving forward on these alternative offerings to Trijicon.
These look like GREAT upgrades.
Nice to see our vz. 58 in your video. Satisfied user of Vortex from Czech republic :)
I have the spitfire 3x and I love it. I tried a 5x primary arms and the reticle was crooked in the scope so I sent it back. Second time I've been let down by Primary Arms. Vortex it is for me.
@VortexOpticsUSA any plans for a 300blk version?
If the 3x had the same ability to mount a red dot as the 5x, It would be my pick hands down. I've been struggling for the past few days to find a good optic setup. I Dont really do much that a 5x would be better than a 3x. But I also want to have easy access to a 1x without it being canted. Probably going to go with the optic and magnifier route but this would have been way better.
would like to get a 1-5x prism like the elcan specter dr with out the high price
Looks like a winner
I know I’m late to this party but I can’t wait to try mine! The sale price I got it for (just over $200 including S/H) means I win either way, hopefully!
Vortex is the BEST #1
Just bought and impressed.
Awesome - did you go with the 3x or the 5x?
@@VortexOpticsUSA the 5x. Plan to add the red dot.
@@javiertorres6067 Heck yeah - that's awesome!
Send one to someone to torture test it for us. If this thing is strong ASF. It's freaking great!
Is the illuminated reticle daylight bright? Also, will there be a 1x version? I like that this updated version has a T2 footprint for quick disconnect mount options, & a shorter & lighter profile---WELL DONE Vortex!!
Great question - these are not daylight bright reticles when illuminated.
Appreciate the kind words, my friend! Thanks for being a part of Vortex Nation!
I want to mount one of these on my Keltec KS7 slug launcher. I'm really surprised that no one has made a video using this scope with a shotgun and using the holdovers for shotgun slugs.
Would it work with ar 15 gas system when aim down or would I need something to get something to hold 5x spitfire gen 2 higher or would it hold perfectly fine with what comes on box ?
Could you guys put out a short video specifically about the AR BDC4 reticle?
That would be pretty cool to have available - we'll certainly see what we can do!
Could you guys just mount a camera behind your optics so us the viewer could get real view of your products. Stock photos dont work. It would really help.
Appreciate the feedback! That would be a pretty cool angle. While mounting a camera would give a good idea of the reticle, unfortunately it's hard to capture the optical quality as you are now having the image pass through more lenses. I'll certainly pass the request along though!
@Vortex Optics where can I find these in stock? Everywhere I look says no longer available not even back order. I’ve been searching for something like this and these are awesome I need one
As you can imagine there is quite the demand for optics right now. It looks like A&A Optics does have the 3x in stock currently aaoptics.com/Spitfire-HD-Gen-ll-_c_56.html
Freaking sick
Do these have a “shake awake” feature?
When will the AMG UH1 be available again? It's been out of stock for like 6 months, EVERYWHERE.
Hey there - as you can imagine there is a huge demand for optics right now - we appreciate your patience! The current estimated backorder time for the UH-1 is about 11-12 months from the time of order. The fastest way to get your hands on one would be to get on a backorder list through your local dealer.
Mine has been on backorder for half a year, and keeps getting pushed back... >_< Supposedly it is going to ship this month, but I'm not holding my breath.
What vortex riflesscope for 7,62x39
Will the 5x prism scope work well with the saint victor .308 pistol? Or would i be better off with another option? Thanks!
Absolutely - that would be a great choice for that setup!
Battery type and how long will it last?
Is it better to run this optics to the rear of your AR 15
That what the circles around optics are supposed to do? Draw your eye in towards the center? I know its just in video games, but I honestly find the circles very distracting lol.
I saw a video that showed the reticle on the 3x being much smaller than the 5x. It stated the reticle in the 3x was very difficult to pick up. Can anyone confirm?
It is to a point.
The eyebox is not very forgiving and if you don't have the perfect cheek weld in the same spot, it's difficult.
It is a training thing just like the ACOG was. Nose on the charging handle for those that know.
The reticle itself is very usable and I was hitting torso sized steel over 300 yards with ease.
I did eventually take the 3x off and got a different optic.
Has anyone mounted this yet on a 7.62x51? Looking for something to mount on my Springfield SOCOM 16 cqb.
Top mount on the 5x uses Venom/Viper red dot foot print. Will you offer adapter plates to use other desired dots like 407/507/RMR or the DPP?
I'm not aware of any plans to at this time, but there are adapter plates on the market currently that would convert the footprints. Check out www.amerigunusa.com
@@VortexOpticsUSA Awesome, thanks!
Are you making these in 1x? I have an astigmatism and would love this for a CQB optic--I also prefer the etched reticle of a red dot. If you made these 1x, and maybe with a green option, I would love to pick up a couple!
Hey Sean - not in the Gen II lineup, but we do have the Spitfire AR 1x which is a prism scope!
Sean, I have the spitfire AR and LOVE it, i deal with astigmatism as well, focus it right in, love the larger outer circle as it really draws my eye in and easy to see. Have it on a SBR. Had the Primary arms cyclops but that reticle was TINY and I could not see/ use that very well. Hope this helps.
Is the height of the AR models 1/3 or Co-witness ????
so how do you adjust the vortex Gen 2, from 5x to 3x? manual doesn't have this type of adjustment available
Hey there - those are actually 2 different optics. The Spitfire HD Gen II will come in a 5x or a 3x. You can not adjust them to different magnifications.
THE most important question...is it Scar rated?
Hey Vortex, how big does the reticle show up on the 3x? I am asking as i have a PA 1x cyclops and the reticle is so darn small, makes it difficult for me to see it well. I have your spitfire AR and love the duel reticle, larger and easier for me to see. How does this reticle compare? *UPDATE****** so I pulled the trigger on this optic, started with a nice red dot, astigmatism made that annoying to use, moved to a LPVO 1-4 Luepold, excellent optic and i liked it however the overall weight with mount was a bit heavy, finally bought the spitfire HD Gen II 3x, LOVE IT, as a retired Master Sergeant and combat vet I would even use this optic on deployment. Weight/ size is great, field of view is good, illumination, built like a tank, i finally have found an optic that will do all i ask of it. FYI i put a American Defense QD mount on it so i could mount it as far back on the rail due to the eye relief. This has worked out great. I did have to put my rear BUIS in front of the optic which is fine, they are their just for emergency use but i dont think I will ever be needing them. Hope this helps some of yall on the fence about this optic.
Great question! Being that it is fixed at 3x, the reticle is going to be smaller. I would highly recommend finding one at a dealer to look through to make sure it will work for you and your setup!
Just got mine in I like this scope but my only complaint is the lens caps.
I looked at getting one & I seem to see quite a few complaints about very short eye relief.......how has your worked out so far?
Do you have an estimate when these will start shipping? Just went to order one...
They are shipping now! I would recommend getting on a backorder list through one of our dealers in order to get your hands on one the quickest.
Do you guys make a night vision attachment that is compatible with the gen 2 x3 ?
We do not have any NV devices at this time, but that would be pretty cool. We'll pass the request along!
Would this work using the low mount on a shotgun with picatinny rail?
Absolutely - this would be a fantastic option for a shot gun! However, it is a prism optic which makes it subject to eye relief. Make sure that your rail goes all the way back on the receiver, so you can make sure the optic is mounted properly.
Can you mount some other red dot optic on top or only vortex red dot? Thank you
It is only designed for the Venom/Viper footprint, but that does share the same footprint as the Burris Fastfire.
what aluminum is it made of?
I got my self Vortex Venom and I was happy and enthusiast to use it, but after three times in the range with about 600 rounds it lost zero, like 1.5f of elevation @ 50yars!!! I could not see my impacts before I down to 50 yard, than it “jumped” back to Zero and so on… each time I get excellent group but up and down 1.5f @ 50 yards, in addition the ring under the turret carrying the “zero mark” got loosen completely and rotates freely.
I eventually lost 500$
Hey there - do you remember the rings/mount you used? What torque value did you use for your ring screws? Did you use any Loctite or any threadlocker on the ring screws?
@@VortexOpticsUSA Dear Vortex optics, I used standard 34mm rings over picatinny based rail purchased in a gun shop in the USA, I used my own torque meter (which is metric not imperial) and it was set to 2NM, each ring has three screws ant it tightened them gradually and in diagonal order. I am very strict, mechanical engineer in my profusions working in design of accurate (30 nanometer) measurement tools, this world is no stranger to me, please note it happened after 600 rounds, it cannot explain why the top ring under the turrets got loose.
Anyways, I am saying nothing bad about you or else, I am gust sharing my experience, BTW, the Venom came to replace your diamodback 6-24 which still in use in other gun now, and it performs perfectly for appx two years, and I can't count how many rounds...
Thank you for tacking the time to reply me and trying to support.
Thoughts on using the 5x plus redot (or no red dot) for my ruger 10/22 takedown?
That's a great choice for your Ruger. Whether or not you throw a red dot on there would really depend on what you want to use it for. If you have the potential for up close shots the red dot would be a nice option to have.
It will NOT work on a ruger 10/22. The eye relief is much too short. You won't be able to see through the optic.
Vortex, know your product before suggesting things like that. I'm sure you guys have a 10/22 around. Mount a gen 2 3x or 5x on it and you'll see. These are only for ARs.
Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass. Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus! It's a great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope. There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics. On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press. Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that!
When's the 7.62x39 bdc coming, us ak guys need them, also got a Daniel defense m4v7 6.8spc, I run a 4-16x scope on..
Hey Carlos - we don't have any plans for a reticle specifically for that caliber, but any of our reticles can be used with it! All you would need to do is run the ammo you are shooting through a ballistic calculator and find out what your adjustments are. You can then relate it to the reticle to perform your holds.
@@VortexOpticsUSA yes I know I can run a 5.56 bdc with a 7.62 was just concerned if they would expand to that option like some prism scopes that offer 5.56 or 7.62 specific bdc..but thanks still wouldn't mind this optic on my 7.62 it's effortless to zero and find my bdc hold overs..thanks for the quality I run a few other vortex on my other fieams
@@carlostrujillo3854 We appreciate all the support, my friend. Thanks for being a part of Vortex Nation :)
Do you have one for 7.62
When will it be available? I WANT IT
2/1/21
The most important eye relief?
2.6"
Schickt mal bitte welche nach Deutschland 🤓ich möchte mir eins kaufen aber leider nicht zu bekommen 😕
Is it normal for the elevation knob to quit working immediately?
Most definitely not. If you can give us a call at 1-800-4VORTEX or shoot us an email at info@vortexoptics.com we'll get you taken care of right away!
What is the battery life
Say I want to mount this optic on my 6.5x39 Vepr rifle. With a side mounting optic rail I reason there's enough clearance to use my iron sights beneath the optic. Does that sound doable?
Hey there - due to the eye relief you would need to have your rear iron sight off in order to get it mounted at the correct position.
@@VortexOpticsUSA I'm talking about a Vepr AK pattern rifle though. The irons sit in front of the optic- so I could mount the vortex as far back on the receiver as I like.
I was just thinking that with the elevated version of the gen 2 on a side mounted rail I'd have enough clearance to see the iron sights through the gap beneath the optic.
@@sadaway4301 While you might be able to, it's not what that mount is designed to do. It would really depend on how high your irons come up and whether or not it falls within that small window of the mount.
@@VortexOpticsUSA thanks for your responses. I figured as much. I think it's worth a shot having done some measurements of my own and if not I'll still be happy with the optic
How does 3x eye relief compare to 1x ar spitfire prism?
The Spitfire Gen II 3x Prism Scope has an eye relief of 2.6in and the Spitfire AR Prism scope has an eye relief of 3.8 inches.
Would this work with a 300 blackout build ?
Absolutely - that would be a great choice for that setup!
Do you recommend this for a CX4 Storm?
Thanks for the question! It probably wouldn't be best for that setup due to the eye relief. A red dot would be better suited for that platform.
What is the MSRP on the 3x and 5x?
MSRP on the 3x is $549.99 and the 5x is $649.99
What vortex should have done is instead of that 6x micro magnifier they just came out with, they should have taken this product, removed the electronics, the buttons, the top reflex mount and made it even lighter then made it into a 5x magnifier and kept the drop part of the reticle to compliment your primary red dot optic. This would have made the lightest, shortest, best eye relief 5x magnifier on the market!
Wow you're right, imagine having the most durable and cheapest and lightest prism on the market.
That’s actually a good idea. Just like Holosun makes.
Is the footprint for mounts proprietary?
Nope - the Spitfire HD Gen II share the same footprint as the T2.
Will the 5x accept the razor red dot??
Great question - it will not. The footprint on the Spitfire HD Gen II 5x is compatible with the Viper and the Venom red dots.
What is the cost?
How come that micro red dot mount on the 5x isn't mentioned anywhere on the website?
Magnifiers are not recommend to pair up with any prism scope as they systems will not align and you won't be able to get the proper eye relief as both optics are subject to to eye relief.
@@VortexOpticsUSA Wasn't talking about a magnifier. I'm talking about the micro red dot mount on the Spitfire 5x.
@@fubar1217 its like they are avoiding the question lol I asked if it was a rmr footprint for the red dot mount and they told me the it was a t2 footprint
@@jiveturkey713 My guess is it's the footprint of the Viper or Venom. If they were smart, they'd offer different plates or mounts.
@@fubar1217 yeah I dont want to use their red dot. I want to use the holosun I already own lol
Do you have a 7.62 x 39 model 3X?
While we don't have a model specific to that round, you can use the Spitfire HD Gen II 3x with any caliber. You would simply want to run the ammo you are using through a ballistic calculator to find out what you are adjustments are at different distances. You would then relate that information to the reticle to perform your holds. Here is a link to our LRBC: lrbc.vortexoptics.com/#!/
Let us know if you have any questions!
Green reticle available????
There is no green option at this time.
Drop reticle for 7.62x39 in the works?
3x and 5x are giving up the option of iron sights
Now upgrade the Spitfire AR to these standards
You all need to make with one with a .308 holdover.
These can absolutely be used with a .308. You would simply want to run the ammo you are shooting through a ballistic calculator to find out what your adjustments are at different distances. You can then relate that information to the reticle to perform your holds.
🔥👌💪💯
Where are they made?
The Spitfire HD Gen II is designed and engineered here in the US and manufactured in China to our specifications and quality standards.
@@VortexOpticsUSA Ok, that's sad, ill wait for a version not made in the PRC. Thank you.
Rmr footprint for red dot mount?
These share the same footprint as the T2
@@VortexOpticsUSA yes but I am referring to the red dot that you mount on top of the spitfire
@@jiveturkey713 The footprint is compatible with our Viper and Venom models. They share the same footprint as the Fastfire.
@@VortexOpticsUSA thank you
Mount an optic on an optic...
Anyone tried that? Interesting concept.
why would you even want or need a red dot mounted ontop of a short range scope?
45 degree iron sights if you're that in need of close range..
Offset irons would definitely be another option as you are accomplishing the same thing - the ability to shoot close range without the magnification. The one benefit a red dot would give is quicker target acquisition as the you can simply put the dot on the target and pull the trigger rather than trying to align your irons.
Most effective way to mount a Sparc on the 5x?
Why 1 moa adjustments? On a 5x that’s odd fellas. Micro red dots have 1/2 moa adjustments…benefit of the doubt but there must be a reason
Is this the military or airsoft optics???
The Spitfire HD Gen II can be used for either of those applications.
@@VortexOpticsUSA THX.... Köszönöm !
Looks great but only 1 MOA Adjustment Graduation? lol
1 MOA adjustments are pretty much the standard for red dots and prism scopes as you are not sighting them in at further ranges like a riflescope.
@@VortexOpticsUSA For a 1x, maybe, although .5 moa would be better. For a 3x and 5x though? 1 MOA clicks not enough when truing the optic at greater ranges. A few extra clicks when sighting in is no hassle
1 click is 1 moa??? that's a bit much
Hey Jay - most red dots and prism scopes have 1 MOA adjustments as you are not sighting them in at 100 yards.. Most red dots/prism optics are zeroed at 25 yards or 50 yards. 1 MOA of adjustment at 25 yards will move the POI roughly .25" inches. If you had 1/4 MOA adjustments at this distance it would only move 0.65" inches. This would require a ton of adjustment to move very small distances.
That tiny mount is so going to break badly, should have beefed it up a bit and make something like Trinity does.
It looks like the PA offerings, the reticle looks like a weird ACSS too. Man you guys have no shame!
They all come from the same factory. Rebranded and tweaked for each company
Does PA have a 10 oz 5x scope?
$199 now
Next paycheck.....
🤜🤛
I got a 3x off Amazon today. The eye relief is too short to use it, the mount stripped, and the reticle is too small to see. Since it is literally unusable due to the mount and eye relief, it goes back for a refund tomorrow.
It is a very low quality chinese optic. Vortex really dropped the ball.
Prism scopes do have shorter eye relief by nature. The 3x has an eye relief of 2.6" inches. What torque value were you using for the mount? It is very important to make sure you are using the correct value as to not over-tighten and strip it. Regardless, something like that is fully covered by the VIP Warranty and if you still have the optic we would be happy to send you a replacement mount and hardware.
@@VortexOpticsUSA I couldn't get the screw started.
Also that eye relief means it is only for use on an AR platform or similar gun. And it cannot be mounted on a rail as is pictured on the box, because you need to put your glasses right up to the thing.
You sound incompetent.
@@javiertorres6067 Thank you. My incompetence must have prevented Vortex from designing the optic with a usable eye relief and forced them to use chinese hardware with class 1 threading. The screw looked like it was meant for drywall.
@@howitreallyis2235 sounds like you’ve never used a prism scope and over tightened the screw. I have this optic on an AK, zero issues. The damn box picture is for marketing, you need to move the scope to the proper eye relief for you on the rail. Watch all the videos, prisms are not red dots put way out on a rail. I second the previous comment made against you, now you are bashing a product because you couldn’t figure it out. The eye relief is very generous at over 2.5 inches, unbelievable.
