This was a crazy good video, thank you! I just ordered the Sigma 40mm ART f/1.4 for my new Panasonic Lumix S5 body, along with an array of other lenses. I am SOOOO excited for the sharpness this lens offers, especially with the 96 MP pixel shift mode on the S5!
I primarily shoot APS-C and for portraits, for me, 40mm and 50mm are the sweet spot. I find myself putting Canon’s shorty 40 on my camera more often than not, and this lens has long been on my list of lenses to get.
I have several of the ART lenses and love them. I would not hesitate to buy another Sigma lens...in fact, I just got their 18-300 macro lens to play with during this strange time...Amazing for those of us who can't afford a Nikon at 3x the price.
I have had it for the last 8 months. For my nikon z6. Boy! What an absolute delight it has been. The image quality is soo lit! Color? Mindblowing! But i so wish it was not this heavy :(
Wouldnt you prefer the Sigma 35mm F1.2 for same price, slightly less weight, and better af motor (for mirrorless) on Sony FE? on F-mount i certainly wanted this lens though, but i have Sony A7RIV now.
Any thought on the 40mm vs the 50mm Sigma? My first thought when i saw it announced was ‘it isn’t standard like the 50 but wouldn’t even be moderately wide like the 35. So what’s the point?’ Do you think I’m missing something in that thought process? If you had the 50mm Art as I do would you still be wanting the 40?
How would it compare to the (Canon) Sigma DG 24mm 1.4 on an APSC body, giving a 38.4mm focal length, big fan of Sigma Art DG lenses, would love to see your comparison?
I recently purchased this lens maybe a month plus ago . I don’t like taking it off . And that’s only to use a different focal lenght . I shoot it on a d850 and I purchased it for when I get a Nikon Z body . 40mm is a new love of a focal lenght. I also love the 28mm fov and have a Nikon 28mm f/1.8g . It’s light weight and that’s the best attribute of the lens . I will be getting a Sigma 28mm Art to complement this 40 . Could you guys do a review on the Sigma Art 28mm ? Thanks
@@kevinrtres I ended up going to Amazon, it's just a shame that the link listed doesn't work outside the US, because I'd have like her to have a bit of a kickback, as she convinced me to buy it.
I had the 35mm 1.4 for Sony. It's way to heavy & big. Oh, yeah - it's a D(inosaur) SLR lens with an adapter - not a made for mirrorless lens. Since it's a DSLR lens it should be calibrated as with all the other Dinosaur lenses. (PS - might want to try the Batis 40...I realize its not as fast, but could be a good comparison).
I use 50 art and also sony 50 1.4, i can say that sony’s micro contrast much much better than sigma so how can you explain when you compare sigma 40 and sony 50 about the micro contrast?
I use the 24mm Sigma art lens with my D810. It's supposed to be a little behind the Nikkor 24mm in sharpness. I wish I knew about this lens before buying the Tamron 45mm. I prefer the build quality of the art lenses. However, they're not always the best in class. that's my real issue with them.
But for the best in class....which other 40mm f/1.4 lens is there that is better than this one? And what exactly is the price of the best in class lenses you are comparing the Sigma ART lenses to? It's all OK, if you are willing to pay the price for them.
Stunning lens, I did try one out for a couple of days but won't be purchasing. Weight! I'll settle for Sony's 35mm f1.8 Anyway, I'm sure a few years back, we were all sold "mirrorless" for the weight factor.
Because: 1. The current potential customer base for Z-mount lenses is too small; and 2. The electronic communication of the Z-mount has not yet been reverse engineered to a standard acceptable to Sigma and Tamron.

If I had to go through life with just one ☝️ lens on my camera, it would be this 40mm lens. It’s a tad heavy, but the images make it worthwhile.
28mm Sigma Art F1.4 is also phenomenal
I got one a couple of weeks ago and it is every bit as stunning as I thought it would be.
I have the EF mount . Get a sigma mc11 or mc21 .. gives you you so many body options and works well a7r iv. It works so well with mirrorless cameras.
I own this lens in Sony E-mount and everything she says is spot on! Hands down the best lens in my kit,

You can always psych yourself (and others) into thinking its a concealed firearm. Scare off any potential rivals to a shoot.
Can I see some of your image with it ?
Please how fast does it focus considering the fact that you are using it with f to z adapter on nikon

Just brought this Lens for my Canon can't wait to try it out with some Milky Way shots and more to the point a Tracked milky way Panorama
Thanks for the reviews of this Lens, i just bought it, i been looking at this for a while now

Это разная динамика работы, 40мм всё ещё портретник с большим воздухом вокруг объекта, тогда как 35мм это уже про атмосферу и локацию
I think the Canon 35mm 1.4L II is a good lens, and probably not so heavy.
I own the sigma 50 85 105 art and i love them all. But the canon ef 35mm 1.4 II is my favourite.
Und nicht so gut...

best review of this lens on youtube.
I own Sigma 50 mm art lens. Its been few years. is the sharpness for this lens better than 50 mm
As a matter of fact, yes! The only lens that almost rivals this 40mm is the 105mm art.
Have you tried it on the Nikon FTZ adapter yet please?

Hi the lens is now on a perfect price !
I own the 20 mm F1.4 Art and the 105mm F1.4 Art f mount this one becomes on my wish list !
Great video!
Everybody loves SIGMA ART (and Raymond)
Anyone have any idea how this compares to the 35mm f1.4 Sigma? (which is less expensive?) Could that lens be a good substitute (at half the price?)
Excellent videos I like all of them

No, Sigma is not currently making any lenses for Fuji bodies.

So can you tell me why companies like sigma and Tamara and I aren't making lenses for the Nikon z series?
Because: 1. The current potential customer base for Z-mount lenses is too small; and 2. The electronic communication of the Z-mount has not yet been reverse engineered to a standard acceptable to Sigma and Tamron.
2021 they will be making lens for Canon and Nikon.
Price dropped to $799
Wow its big and heavy ;)
It is!
