But now, honestly, I'm just doing the same stuff over and over again. I gave Battlebit a try the other day. The pace, energy and excitement of it was just so refreshing. I love tank driving, but in Planetside 2 I've just been going through the same old same old for ages now. Might be contentious, but perhaps for the long term good of Planetside, then perhaps Planetside 2 does need to die. From here on, like you say, the numbers are not likely going to be swelled by new players. So perhaps let it die, have 5 years without Planetside. PS2 is a tragic showcase how neglect and absolutely idiotic mismanagement can and will destroy a game from start to end and the fact that PS2 is still around is a testament to how amazing the ground/core and concept is. PS2 still stands despite it being cannibalized and drained of resources/devs twice, it got abandoned and sucked dry for H1Z1 and then later again for PS Arena and when both those crashed and burned while PS2 was chugging along the fuckheads at the top still could not see what they had and continued to ignore PS2. In a alternative timeline PS2 is one of the largest and most successful FPS games because it had the funds and devs from the start. People should keep in mind that while PS2 has been alive for over 10 years the majority of that time it was 'dead' with little to no resources or devs being put into it, crucially not too long after release. Its hard to imagine how amazing it could have been if they kept working on it from start to finish and not letting the hype die.
sure, management was an issue, but you can't put consistently dumb decisions on management CAI, some wacky balance, etc, construction/oshur wastes is a dev issue
No FPS game (as far as I know) comes close to Planetside 2 in terms of the sheer scale of its combined arms gameplay. I played the game back before the whole Esamir fuckery (and even before the whole server optimization/merger thing). I still remember my "newbie" experience back then. I pressed instant action and immediately get dropped in the middle of a huge base defense in Indar (still one of my all time favorite continent). That moment was when I got instantly hooked even though I died a lot due to either team kills (typical NC behaviour 😂) or outright self stupidity. As I played more, I began to learn more to the point my outfit made me into a "drill sergeant" for new players who joined our little gang. I gave them some basic mouse+keyboard settings and basically told them " I can only train you this far, from here on out, real combat will be your instructor".
Tbh there's no saving this game. I've tried getting friends into it recently but they get stomped into the ground hard by vets with way more hours than any normal person should have and they don't feel like they can compete. Why was so much time spent on construction? = They have no clue what they are doing since they don't play the game. Devs spent about 1.5 years building oshur in a map building just for Wrel to get sunk cost fallacy. Large open map with no cover and no knowledge on how to create decent bases to fill in the spaces on Oshur to hide from BR infil stalkers. Then another year for a shitty "Construction Update" for the very few that enjoy building. Nanoweave buffed Stalker infils with BR as it reduced TTK needing one or more bullet to kill. Hence two years of redditoids begging for INFIL NERFS. Well redditoids spent six years on reddit begging Wrel to Nerf Nanoweave but didn't have the foresight to realize guns wouldn't be adjusted for the lack of extra health option.
i was literally playing tonight when u were recording this lol. i'm just glad theres still a core base of people who are playing and running dedicated ops nights with actual good players and good fights on fridays and saturdays even after all this time. but unlike most games ps2 requires a large amount of players on at the same time for it to work. here's to hoping it gets better
@@yanlexi why does nobody talk about the GSD on sunderers and galaxies deploying underwater on oshur, becoming nearly untouchable ... u have to shoot it from above, and i think c4 *might* work. for some of the underwater points it gives enemies an almost unbreakable spawnpoint right next to it
I think oshur needs more facilities or buildings. The best places are the ones that are fought in those places and, in oshur, most of the time i find myself fighting in the open.
1,000,000% would be down for a Planetside RTS. I'm a relative newcomer to PS2. Started on Genudine in 2015and migrated to Connery in early 2022. Haven't been gaming much in general and PS2 especially has been far from my mind. I log on see a low pop map and leave. No sense in wasting my time playing a game I don't enjoy atm.
Gotta say a few things: Oshur is definitely a problem - cool, but pretty worthless (haha funny boat lol). I'd also say that the whole "Esamir Event" was a huge mistake (imo) and was completely unnecessary. The seeming lack of attention the devs actually pay to the game is worrying, and the furtherment of "new content" to "bring in new players" and "combined arms" is the wrong direction for them to be bringing the game. Lastly, the exit of Wrel, like you said, caused a massive lapse in dev-to-community communications - this kind of worries me, since most (not all) FTP game developers are developing content for the sake of having more content and not developing content to further the enjoyment of the game. Neither do they listen to any valuable feedback from players that are actually knowledgeable about the game and its flow of gameplay. Unless some kind of miracle happens at RPG or DBG, or a resurgence in pop happens, I could see planetside dead by Q2 or Q3 of 2024.
p.s. I really really don't want my prediction to be correct - I've been with the series for a long time and I'm not ready for it to end. It's a cool game with a really cool genre, and I know there probably wont be a game or a series like this again.
Nowadays people whine about everything. For example wrong weapon opponent have, wrong class opponent play. But none of them realise that problem of this game is people who play in it. Yes oshur is discussable. But if devs change infil like a lot things before? Gameplay and experience for new players will changed dramaticaly? NO, because they will die one way less from 6000000 ways to die in this game. 12k hours heavy who can throw headshots faster than you blink. ESF with shotgun/bubles which hold 12-24 persons spawnroom. Why not fix that? Its too much firepower for one single ESF. Oh no. Just nerf opponent no matter how much time he spent in game, and how many times he died long time before. Because if they do that for game, its just booring, old, buggy battlefield clone with old nolifer's inside. Game slowly lose individuality, key features and people.
Man look at PS4/PS5 man we only have 48/96 fights the last time we have 96+ and server fulls was last year when my buddy on the NC Theannoying told me they’re having a get together event where they’re trying to raise awareness for the game about console players being neglected, it’s that bad after 12am and 2am 1-12 fights. All because of corporate greed and primarily “LAZINESS” is why players aren’t interested in the game anymore. This game has a special place in my heart and is the only FPS that I’ll play besides COD. I love the TR I represent my faction. As of right now we need this game to be revived for both platforms PlayStation and PC. Everyone from PlayStation has moved to PC because of negligence. I haven’t bought any micro transactions in 4 years because of how console players are treated.
They are creatively Bankrupt! This was a Sony studio 12 years ago. The creator of the engine and creative thinking behind this idea was Sony. Sony wanted to revolutionize 1,000 players on the battlefield at one time. Sony brought the engine and the special coders for this game to be developed. All of the original developers left when Sony pulled the plug and sold this studio. Sony did not like the creative direction this studio was heading and decided to part ways. Because the engine is to complex, they cannot remake the game for the new consoles and the graphics are dated.
For someone who found things a few days ago or so within like a week ago after returning to the game, I can only say with population is agreed to be bad state rn, and for my opinion with Oshur: The map in terms of land is nice, but the whole underwater fights and boat fights feel so janky and hard to do without the right stuff needed for them, sure you can get the underwater diver for cheap and rifle for free, but you can't go up and down and shoot with it, which makes the underwater fights not fun in my eyes, I was thinking of Star Wars underwater fights or any sci-fi underwater shootouts where they have underwater powered guns to do underwater dog fights. Every Underwater fight is just deep in the sand shooting you underwater rifle just to kill people, I can understand our abilities don't work (Yet Light Assault can use their jet packs which I find dumb and unrealistic in the environment) But you can't really do much underwater aside from standing by the point to defend it and shoot any enemy in line of sight. ------------ Server merge would be convenient for this painful month of the game dying for the last 2 months from what I heard. CTF thing was kinda cool in my eyes, but realising the layout of the same old buildings for the CTF zones, they don't work in some areas, you either get the zone easy to capture cause nobody is defending it, or in offense the enemy is camping your spawn and making it impossible to defend the flag, or the defense is smoking you down. Construction system is a very cool on paper, but from what I can see doesn't work on execution, if it was all prebuilt and upgradable deployable outpost, maybe it would be a better construction design, then you just make minor small barriers to defend the post. But thats just my opinion on how they could adjust the construction to be easier for both sides to destroy and build them. Or perhaps make parts of the zone where you have to gather resources to upgrade the territory to its max state (Would be cool to see everybody in every zone work on resources to gather and transport to territories to supply it into a formidable area into the very buildings we have on the map of that specific territory), but it depends how they could redesign it into a better foundation, I do like it for the sneaky outpost behind or beside their territory to infiltrate (Not the literal class, but you get the picture) Until the Enemy slowly finds out theres a station nearby spawning people into their back end or beside them. In the end I hope the devs realise and fix the issues, I do like some parts of it, but its just not good long term in most areas it was designed in concept for.
@@yanlexi because the players on the subredit don't know how to make a game. And even though yes, listening to player's feedback is important, it seems like the devs can't differentiate between what players are critiquing and what type of players that complain just to complain. I don't know about the current devs but Wrel had this issue. And yes these "vets" don't want this game to be fun, so their trying to ruin it. That's the real reason to why people are quiting or hacking.
PS2 One of the giants of its time Going out with a wimper. Ironic for a game like this. I think the gaming community is hurting for a game like PS. There are skilled devs out there but I guess the money isnt there.
I wont ever play this game until cloak nerf. I have never seen any other game where unvisibility was so common and can use without any disadvantage. And community cries about 100hp nerf which is a joke. It feels like an offline game in terms of balance and abilities, but it gets annoying when some1 really abusing op stuffs like cloak smg infiltrator. Many thinks this way. Most of people quit this game because "unvisible people kill me every corner" and they are right. In a tactical game you can't just go completetly unvisible fully loaded with best weapons... It makes no sense.
Yeah back in the day SMG's where very limited to infiltrators. You should be glad its not 2013 though. Infls on low graphics used to be literally invisible - even when running. I wasnt until I brought it up on the SOE forms and discussed the topic that they changed it.
PS 2 kinda deserve it... and i am happy if it dies sooner... me and my friend kinda predicted it by the way they treated casual player, sunderer player and construction player.... yes planetside 2 is FPS to the core... but before you do the action to achieve that fps gameplay you need logistic, and reinforcement planning or flanking route that sunderer player comes big slow moving truck with weapon that barely able to defend itself, but now look at it, 2 c4 to reduce it to ash, or how easy it is to destroy it by tank or some people with jetpack and c4. you got bog down on one choke point, ooo yeah you got ANT can flank out those point, well for now good luck finding flanking route without got followed by ESF or tank because DEV remove the ANT cortium stealth capture point to far. ooo yeah you got router, but now what.... you need to build base 500 meters from target enemy base for it to work, ooo make it harder for contruction player to defend its base, remove auto turret and pain spire, and while we contruction player looking to mine cortium, our base most of the time got destroyed by planes tank or got infiltrated... because they remove automation damn you.. i as construction player, we may not a good shooter like you or commander cysus but at least we can keep the logistic going. and keep new player or rusher player short time to go to action.. but what the game do... neft contruction like it was a plague and barely playable... now most contruction player left the game because its no point, their time, their spent a lot of cert just to build decent router and vehicle base.
The NSX-A Kappa, and the NSX-A Muramasa - both were pre-overhaul directive rewards. You can get normal versions of those rewards for A7, but the auraxium versions are locked to those who have them. Notably, I was the 10th and final player to unlock the NSX-A Muramasa before it became unobtainable.
PS3 will never happen anyway Agree on crossplay but it's not gonna happen. I doubt PS3 would get a console version too, we saw what happened with console PS2
I feel this game still gets plenty of new players - they just don't stick around because they're literally getting stuck in Sanctuary, and if they get out of that, they get stuck at warp gate. A good amount of the negative review simply state they don't know how to even begin actually playing the game. When a game is free there's usually always at least people willing to give it a shot.

I hope they fix Oshur, Tanks and other Vehikels needs a Water Speed Module or more Ships with Public Spawns.
corsair doesn't need pub spawn imo
oshur just needs to be erased into the sun, put pools in specific locations on other conts for corsair
Henni, öhhhhhhhhhhh
PS2 had some shitty marketing, mostly relying on word of mouth isnt the greatest advertisement scheme
BTW Yan you're NOT toxic, Connery in general is a pretty chill server. I have run into WAAAAYY more toxic people on Emerald
@efraim3364 that's true, some of the most chill people I've ever met are in my clan In Connery.
@@kiro-fo9qg yeah im in HMRD and were a bunch of goofballs
Wasn't this video uploaded a couple weeks ago?
nope
Lol NOT playing on Emerald! Once the last bastion of Emerald dies, the game can have its well deserved sunset.
Simple, its time for planetside 3
won't happen
because the planetside 2 community is killing the game because they don't like fun.
this is certainly a take of all time
@@yanlexi most accurate take yes
do elaborate when a solid 90%+ of vets dislike construction & oshur, and oshur is very, very unpopular
PS2
One of the giants of its time
Going out with a wimper.
I wasnt until I brought it up on the SOE forms and discussed the topic that they changed it.
agree 100% , minecraft needs to go as well as Oshur
PS 2 kinda deserve it... and i am happy if it dies sooner... me and my friend kinda predicted it by the way they treated casual player, sunderer player and construction player....
yes planetside 2 is FPS to the core... but before you do the action to achieve that fps gameplay you need logistic, and reinforcement planning or flanking route
that sunderer player comes big slow moving truck with weapon that barely able to defend itself, but now look at it, 2 c4 to reduce it to ash, or how easy it is to destroy it by tank or some people with jetpack and c4.
you got bog down on one choke point, ooo yeah you got ANT can flank out those point, well for now good luck finding flanking route without got followed by ESF or tank because DEV remove the ANT cortium stealth
capture point to far. ooo yeah you got router, but now what.... you need to build base 500 meters from target enemy base for it to work, ooo make it harder for contruction player to defend its base, remove auto turret and pain spire, and while we contruction player looking to mine cortium, our base most of the time got destroyed by planes tank or got infiltrated... because they remove automation damn you..
i as construction player, we may not a good shooter like you or commander cysus but at least we can keep the logistic going. and keep new player or rusher player short time to go to action.. but what the game do... neft contruction like it was a plague and barely playable... now most contruction player left the game because its no point, their time, their spent a lot of cert just to build decent router and vehicle base.
come to Emerald
i don't want to regrind hundreds of hours + i have unobtainable content on my VS + NSO chars
@@yanlexi what unobtainable content do you have for nso? im curious
Time for a cross platform plsnetside 3
it'll never happen, also, controller users would be at a colossal disadvantage
@@yanlexi so . Crossplay is future . This isn’t a competive shooter
PS3 will never happen anyway
Agree on crossplay but it's not gonna happen. I doubt PS3 would get a console version too, we saw what happened with console PS2
Us PS players hearing 270 players like “wow thats a lot wym” 🫠
PS4side is very rough. imo account transfers would be best, and just kill it off
Best FPS game I've ever seen, but without ads it's doomed🥲
even with ads at this point, it's too old and everyone who would be interested either has already played/doesn't want to
@@yanlexi 😭
I feel this game still gets plenty of new players - they just don't stick around because they're literally getting stuck in Sanctuary, and if they get out of that, they get stuck at warp gate. A good amount of the negative review simply state they don't know how to even begin actually playing the game. When a game is free there's usually always at least people willing to give it a shot.
