    An hour after I’d edited this, the Guardian are reporting that the FA are set to block this proposal 😬
    Let me know if you’d like to see Wrexham compete in the Welsh League Cup for a chance to play European football

    If the FA gets out of their way, I suspect if Wrexham or another Welsh club ever qualified for the Champions or Europa leagues through the Premier League, that someone would figure out how to include them. The $$$ would talk.

      UEFA is not going to budge on the "only competing for Europe through one country" rule. Now, if a Welsh club was in the Premier League, the FAW might change the wild card to an U21 entry (that's the wild cards the Welsh EFL clubs have available), which would not be eligible to go to Europe, so that would swap their competition for Europe from Wales to England. But if they have started a season competing for a place through the Welsh Leagues Cup, they simply would not be eligible to go through English competition, even if they won the PL.

      @BruceMcFarling I feel like UEFA's highly pliable when it comes to shifting its own rules. Seems like "hey, let's not cash in on one of the greatest Cinderella stories in the history of sport" would run counter to their vested interest.

      @@michaelmeehan9553 It's not bent on this one since it was finalized decades ago. This is a core part of the national club representation system.

      @@BruceMcFarling Well, let's see if they don't make alterations if/when a Welsh club gets promoted up to the Premier League (if the FA allows this step in the first place).

      @@michaelmeehan9553 "They" who? UEFA is not going to bend on the rule. The jealousy of the EFL clubs about the possibility that a Welsh EFL club might, for once, gain a modest benefit from being located in Wales would be nothing compared to the jealousy across European club football if any club could get into European football through multiple countries.

  • @BruceMcFarling
    @BruceMcFarling 16 часов назад

    Note that the Welsh EFL clubs would only recoup their costs from the European payments ... the financial benefit to the Welsh EFL clubs is money from sponsors looking to at the extra exposure in the European competition.

    Hope they play an awfully lot better than last night.

    • @BruceMcFarling
      @BruceMcFarling 16 часов назад

      If they keep up playing like last night, the "EFL" part of "Welsh EFL clubs" would be at risk. If only they could play against the lower level opposition with the same quality that they play against the higher level opposition.

    We can have all the firepower we like up front, but make the terrible errors in defence like last night and it will count for nothing.

    FA won’t let it happen..think this always on the cards…

      An hour after recording, the news that the FA is likely to block it broke. So it goes back onto the back burner unless either the FA or the Premier League finds that they need the FAW's support for getting something they want out of UEFA.

    What’s happened to Paul Mullen? He was Wrexham’s top striker but seems to have disappered from the first team. At least in the games i have seen. Anyone have any info?

      With only two exceptions, he's not making goals when he puts himself into a position to score. It might be that his shooting mechanics adjusted to the problems he was having, and with the problem fixed, he needs to get his mechanics re-adjusted.

    Time to get Lankshear on loan after Shrewsbury defeat.

    It's like some are thinking that the 'getting into Europe' factor, equates to getting in to the Champions League....it's NOT ffs, it's the European equivalent of the Carabao Cup, the EFL Cup or the Johnstone Paints Trophy....
    Even IF we went into it, and qualified, for... 'Europe'....it'd be against someone from the likes of Azerbaijan, San Marino or Outer Mongolia or somewhere!!
    A REAL spine-tingling thought. Give it a rest. If the Club have ambition, they should look further down the road.....

    • @Aduxz
      @Aduxz 51 минуту назад +1

      And? It will still generate quite a lot of money for the club if they go to the group stage and should help with getting promoted to Premier League. Much better to play in Europa Conference than EFL CUP or JPT.

    • @Red_Snappa
      @Red_Snappa 29 минут назад

      @Aduxz ....and if we get to the Prem, we'd be stuck in the European Mickey Mouse cup, regardless of if we ever (cough) WON the Prem (in the far distant future OC 🙃)...or the FA Cup - which is what I meant about looking further down the line.

    • @Aduxz
      @Aduxz 21 минуту назад

      @ With all due respect, I highly doubt Wrexham will qualify to Champions League via Premier League or FA Cup in our lifetime. Lower European League is better than nothing year after year.
