    Anna I think you are amazing. How does your arm not fall off lol with all the painting you are doing? You are a very hard worker (so is Phillip). I vote for the greenish gray color. Bring color in with art, linens, vases with flowers, etc., for oranges, ochres, soft reds.

      Agreed grey green for kitchen island. Accents of red accessories but not much red.

      @danishpastry6137 2 года назад +5

      I'm team grey/ green too - I so agree on bringing accents of colour in with accessories. With the red, there's the risk of getting bored with it quickly, but with the more neutral option it's easier to switch up the accents (says she who has a neutral kitchen, and sees no need to switch up anything, even after 15 years).

      Seems like it might be time to invest in a paint sprayer for all those cabinets... at least for the insides and the first coat... no wonder she's getting tendonitis.

    The dark red colour would really warm up the two neutral colours. Love all the greens you have used in the château, but in this instance with the north facing light as well, the red would add a real cosy warmth to your kitchen.

    if you're going to display all. your copper pots, I vote for the green gray for the island. let the copper shine and pepper your accents with that red (like the flower in your nan's painting) love how the kitchen is coming along.
    Phillip has some competition now... who is the cutest at the Chateau??? Phillip or the Ziggy? 😉🐕🐶☺

    • @parientou
      @parientou 2 года назад +6

      My thoughts exactly! Having a more neutral base means you have more freedom with the decorations. I think smaller pops of red throughout would be more pleasing.

      @@equatorialjourney4478 Marriage is about give and take, Phillip's choice is a good one, clearly, as people in the comment section are divided over which colour to choose. Allowing him the island, which is still a lovely colour, would be a show of respect.

    I honestly think red would be a welcome dash of colour, plus you‘re in Normandy so when the sun sets your kitchen will look fantastic. The grey is more sedate.
    I would have thought Ziggy looks like a ridgeback but I can’t see a ridge, so I’m going to go with the HungarianVizsla!

    We also have a Vizsla! Two of them, in fact ;) The second one is barely 2 years old, so we still have a lot of puppy energy left over. They are genuinely the most wonderful and loving dogs ever, and are exceptionally good with children! I hope he will bring as much joy to your family as our dogs have brought to us. And I think he is going to love the big open garden space at the chateau - nothing makes them happier than running around and exploring!

    Philipp has such a great sense of humor. I'm so glad Benoit and Nathan work so well with him. The comedy on this channel is the best. Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin and Philipp & Friends! (You're great, too, Anna.)
    Anna, you need one of the wrist braces that is longer than the one I saw you wearing at the beginning. I think the ones with a stiff rubber plate over the top of the hand and wrist would be great for you when painting, etc.

    I'm going against the tide and voting for the red. You have the lovely old brick in the alcove, which the red will complement. You have huge windows with a lots of light and very cool colors coming through (greens, blues). The kitchen is the hearth of the home - and for all those reasons, I vote for the red.

  • @maryloukelly7696

  • @AuntieDeb71

    Congrats on the pup - the kids are clearly in love! Onscreen, the 'red' looks a darkish terra cotta like the pot in the painting - I think that would really look good if used on the island only, to set off the hearth bricks and make the island a very warm anchor for the room. With all those windows, you could grow a lot of edible herbs right there in the kitchen (window farm!) and bring in a ton of green that way.

  • @debshaw680
    @debshaw680 2 года назад +23

    As a person who loves green more than anything, I’d go with Phillip’s color. I don’t like grey paint on walls but think the dark red would make it look homey with the grey. You don’t want the same feel in every room. The red brings some richness and represents what Phillip loves.

  • @louiseemerso3846
    @louiseemerso3846 2 года назад +26

    The brick red would definitely make a statement because red is the color that is used to stimulate appetite, and it is a kitchen, so with interjections of red accents It Could feel very warm and inviting. The kitchen is so large I don’t feel you need to play it to safe! Good luck!

  • @kathyschmidt7312

    The dog is adorable.
    As for the colors in the kitchen, I really like the grey green color, but when Anna was painting the island, and I saw it against the old hearth brickwork, I would have to go with the red color for the island. It is also a nice pop of color against the neutral wall colors. I imagine some green plants here and there to the balance overall color palette.

    Definately red!!, it will go with fireplace and floors and bring out colours in Nana's painting. I love green but it's too monochromatic, it will feel cosy in the winter too and to be honest it would probably grow on you Anna after a bit. More European!! Puppy is going to be so loved by those girls!! Your painting work looks fabulous Anna!! Love the colours for walls and cabinets!!

    The greyish green is the way to go in my opinion. It’s timeless and evokes feelings of calmness. The red is nice but can be an aggressive colour, perhaps bring in the red in smaller decor elements

  • @ruthblack3676
    @ruthblack3676 2 года назад +2

    Go with the red! Red stimulates the senses and the appetite. It also picks up the red in the painting whereas greenish gray is not the lively green of plant life at all. It's really coming together now! It is shaping up beautifully! You two are hard working and inspiring.

  • @kwwa7982
    @kwwa7982 2 года назад +7

    For the island: the orangey red from Nan's painting of course. The red color on the paint sheet is too rusty red. Absolutely a beautiful kitchen made more beautiful with your refined choices. Love Sundays because of your "visits."

    I like the grey-green but you wanted a warm kitchen so I think the dark red wine color. It picks up the terra cotta of the pot in the painting. You could have some greens (plants?) in the kitchen to make up for the lack of green in the cupboards. And WOW!! Are they all hand made? Amazing custom cabinetry, just gorgeous.

    • @fatemehesmaeli9527
      @fatemehesmaeli9527 2 года назад +5

    Love the neutral colors you've chosen for the walls and trim. For the island, either color would work beautifully. I'm actually leaning towards the red. I think that tone of red would be a nice pop of color and add warmth; and it ties in with the brick, as well as Nana's painting. My suggestion would be to find an online tool (like photoshop) where you can do a mock-up with each color and see which one you like best. And remember, it's just paint. You can always change the color. Good luck!

    The terra cotta color (or the color of Ziggy Heidelberg) makes for a nice complimentary variety. I suspect the island will be a focus of activity with lots of bumps and scrapes. The terra cotta will stay nice looking longer. Please, forgive me for saying I am from a world that is reminded of camouflage hunting gear when I see certain shades of green. Of course, one never quite knows how colors translate from electronic devices and, as I recall, the chateau was a hunting lodge.

    I'm going to side with Phillip here. Partly because nobody ever sides with him, but also because I think that read is a very tasteful choice. The green is, of course, a safe choice, but the red has more character, I feel. It's not as if it's a fire-hydrant red - which would be terrible. It's toned down, subtle - distinguished. Elegant.
    Red. Definitely red.

    I really like the red. It would be a wonderful warm contrast to the kitchen.

    Red for the island, it's perfect to stimulate creativity in the kitchen, it would look super nice with all the light from the windows

    Once again, the banter at the beginning had me laughing. Anna, you always amaze me with your painting skills, and, as usual, I like your choice for the island. I think red would be too jarring. Good luck with the deer, Phillip. Your new Canadian additions are a wonderful addition, and so is Ziggy.

    You guys are GREAT, but this week's episode illustrates how brilliant Anna is painting: what energy and with a damaged wrist!

    Any color Anna chooses is the right color
    The puppy Ziggy and the girls make one melt

    I’m on the red team! But I would have gone with a deep orange actually.

    Oh my goodness a Hungarian vizsla!! I've been wanting one for so long! They are a great breed, they are very cuddly, and needs lots of activity. I can't wait to see it grow up with your family.

    Anna, definitely GREEN, it looks amazing!

    The green is beautiful and safe. The red is riskier but would be gorgeous IF it works. The only way to know for sure is to paint it. If after a few months (weeks or days) you hate it, it's easy to repaint. I love, Love, LOVE all that you are doing. Congratulations. 💘

    The dog is too precious! I vote the gray-green color. I think the painting has enough of the warm colors and the green gives a nice earthy tone to the room that compliments the landscape outside those huge windows. I also think it would compliment the contrasting brick and copper pots better.
