Mike will always be one of my all-time favorite fighters. In his prime he was awesome! Say what you want about him; heavyweight boxing just aint the same without him. You are surely missed, champ!
Mike Tyson is one of the most understood men in the world. He is such a nice guy, whenever he knocksout his opponent he makes sure they're okay and talks to them.
I love how Jim Lamley was giving the scoring system...."scoring on the round system...supplemental 4 - point system blah blah blah" and about 10 seconds after he finished the fight was over.
That has to be among one of the quickest and most brutal knockouts in modern boxing history. You could literally see Frazier's eyes roll back in his head on that finishing right uppercut. It looked like something from a Rocky movie. Damn!
I just find it comical that this video has "Part 2" in its title. I remember when this fight took place, and this one was definitely the fight that most contributed to the "don't blink" philosophy about young Tyson. It was in front of a NATIONAL TV audience and Mike lived up to the hype in the biggest way possible.
This is back when Tyson use to walk , talk , eat and sleep boxing. After the Spinks fight that hora of invincibility began to dwindle little by little right up to the Douglas fight. After Douglas he was still a terror (up until the Lewis fight) but a blueprint to beat him was created in the Douglas fight and he was never quite as devastating as he was during the 80's like in this video.
@LemonNation That last comments was a bit off, I meant that Marvis boxing style would not match well against Tyson's skills who would also become hall of fame and one of the greats. Marvis was just not the same person his dad was hunger wise. Marvis tried, but how about someone becoming a doctor and upgrading the family blood line...
Aloes Wallau was in my opinion the best boxing commentator ever. He always seemed to be right on with his boxing analogy. He later became President of ABC but I sure wish he would get back in front of the camera.
Still this is life and even though it hurts to even think about it turning out the way it did, at the end of the day I know for a fact had Cus still been around Mike wouldn't have turned out the way he did. You people seriously have no idea what Cus did to Mike mentally and emotionally. The love and respect were definitely there!
You're right on the money preo2. Horne and Holloway were complete jokes as "managers," King robbed him blind and we all know what Givens and her mom were after. Cus, Kevin, and Jimmy actually LOVED Mike and really cared about him even before he got rich.
I was bored one Saturday and changing the channel and this happen to be coming on. It was the first time I saw Mike and I said to myself oh this is the next great one nobody's going to beat him....
Its a perfect example. Frazier was NOT defensive and was not trying to make Foreman follow him in the 1st fight. He tried to pressure Foreman by coming forward and Foreman rocked his world in 2 rounds. In fact Foreman kept pushing Frazier off to keep him at distance! Although in their second fight Frazier didn't come forward. He kept distance and depended on his upper body movement and counterpunching to beat Foreman but Foreman STILL crushed him. But in the 1st fight Frazier was NOT defensive.
does somebody know why he got so angry and jumped around and screaming right after the fight? one day i read that somebody from the audience wanted a ''piece of him'' and he got really angry and wanted to fight that guy...but i dont know where i read that, and i dont know if its true. hope ya know it....? grz
@BeirutWedding I remember this fight vividly...It was kind of strange at the end after Marvis was knocked out, Joe Frazier enters the ring to see about his son...With Marvis still seemingly woozy, Joe held his face and looked him in the eye and laughed....I never will forget that...It struck me as being odd and insensitive..
tyson was at his best here in 1986,not because he ko's frazier in 30 sec but because he still had the residual effects of damatos teachings and slickness and he didn't get influenced yet,so for practical purposes, this is tyson at his best and this tyson might have had the focus to beat a holyfield, lewis or bowe at his stage of his career.
Consta is correct about Tyson being scared of Foreman. Tyson's fights were carefully selected during a time when the heavyweight division was very weak. To say that old or young Foreman would lose to Mike exposes a lack of boxing exposure. Ring Magazine and other publications have great articles on these types of comparisons, you should check them out I bet you'd enjoy them.
Who thought putting Marvis in with Tyson would be a good idea ? Mike knocks him cold in under 20 seconds . To say it was a mis-match is an understatement . Tyson barely broke a sweat . !!
Frazier's problem was Frazier (the father). He was too tall and lanky, to fight in his father's style. He would have been better served, fighting more like ALI, but Joe would NEVER allow himself to admit this. Plus, Marvis needed more experience and power.
I heard a story about this fight, Mike was in the midst of ordering dinner, 3 hamburgers with the lot, and a side of fries, the ordertaker asks mike does he want a coke with that, Ah... just a minute l'll ask says mike -
Interesting to see Mike try to step in to offer help to Frazier after he was knocked out (2:57 mark of the video clip)...rare glimpse of Tyson's human side.
triggert alot of sport writers have sadi he hits like foreman even former light heavyweight champion jose torres said in his book he has power like foreman and marciano but is way quicker and maybe if he don't hit harder his right up there for sure
Man I remember this fight when it happened and I thought it was a shame Joe let his son fight Mike at that point . i remember how Marvis fought back then and he wasn't ready (not saying that he would've been good as Tyson back then but maybe a little better show). I still think he would've gotteen knocked out but in at least 2nd round.
Because Frazier has a hard head and can take a hell of a beating. The late Hunter Thompson once referred to Joe Frazier as a "human hamburger" and THAT says it all.
@fktheworld1 Sorry, I thought I was commenting on a Klitschko page. No, "prime vs prime" isn't the best way to really compare a boxer, because boxing is about more than what you can do for a single year of your life. The careers of great boxers showcase the ability to stay on top for long periods of time (the Klitschkos are doing a great job of that right now), or the stamina it takes to have a great run, even if you're not a world champ. "Prime vs. Prime" is the way little kids compare boxers.
Tyson was a beast back on those days.A real killer on the ring.He alone saved the dying boxing.Would he had defeated Ali, both at his best? Who knows. I don't think so. I think the young Foreman would have also defeated him.But all this is like talking about sci fi in some way. All my respects and admiration for Tyson as a boxer.Only he and Holyfield can be included on the same league with the legends of the 70s.
@Ahmet1445 I agree with what you are saying, but my point is simple...His dad did at the highest level that was possible and did so because he had to, not just because he wanted too...Marvis lacked the it his dad to succeed at that level and should have tried to be great in something else...I know we all want to make our dad's proud, but we should do it something else...
Tyson that fought Spinks was a much different fighter than one that fought Holyfield; but the Spinks fight only lasted 91 seconds. Tyson after Rooney (late '89 and on) did not fight with defensive skill. Watch Tyson v. Biggs, Tucker, Ribalta, etc. you can see Tyson's defensive skills.
@carlosam16 I think it was just that Marvis was so proud of his dad and wanted to achieve the same. Who gives a fuck on a college degree and a 9 to 6 job in a fucking office if you have a chance to become a world champion.
I never said "what if"; Tyson of '86-'88 during which he fought 19 times, was the best fighter ever. He beat a lot of good fighters during that time- Biggs, Spinks, Tucker, Holmes, Ribalta, Thomas, and Berbick.
in a interview, with tyson and ali both guest on the show. Ali said that a prime ali vs a prime tyson fight would occur, tyson would have won. If he was being humble no one will know.
@bigdatut I don't think he said he hit the hardest. I do know Holmes said "those guys hit much harder" than Tyson. Can you point me to a reference? Holmes was a bitter man by the time he fought Tyson he did not personally like or respect Tyson and talked him down. He and Ali bother were asked who hit harder in different interviews I cannot reference the interviews sorry.
You miss the point just like mvpsmb. Tyson '86-'88 has 19 fights, that's all the evidence you need. Demonstrated skill both defensive and offensive, speed and power in 19 fights. You guys just don't get it.
Dempsey would own the bugger, men in those days were made of something else, Dempsey would beat him like he was his daddy. Don't compare a legend with a modern day great.
Look, I will always love and have respect for both Mike and Kevin but in reality, they both were only living off of what they had learned from Cus, without Cus the future teachings became frozen and unseen. Basically Cus wasn't done with only Mike, there was still allot for Kevin to learn as well.
What a difference a trainer and a little discipline can make. Once Tyson fired his promoter and trainer, let his old school budddies hang around him, everything went down hill from there. DAMN! WE MISSED OUT ON SOME GREAT TYSON WINS! If Tyson had only stuck with his original Training Camp like Muhammad Ali did, he would've retired filthy rich with a good reputation in tact! Crooked Dice!
Mike will always be one of my all-time favorite fighters. In his prime he was awesome! Say what you want about him; heavyweight boxing just aint the same without him. You are surely missed, champ!
Mike Tyson is one of the most understood men in the world. He is such a nice guy, whenever he knocksout his opponent he makes sure they're okay and talks to them.
the end where tyson is helping marvis out shows his true colors... he was very caring and gentle...
I remember this fight went to the fridge to get a beer and when I got back the fight was over LOL.
I love how Jim Lamley was giving the scoring system...."scoring on the round system...supplemental 4 - point system blah blah blah" and about 10 seconds after he finished the fight was over.
🤦♂️😁😁
That has to be among one of the quickest and most brutal knockouts in modern boxing history. You could literally see Frazier's eyes roll back in his head on that finishing right uppercut. It looked like something from a Rocky movie. Damn!
Tyson gave Frazier a Garden of Gethsemane moment slumping in the corner for prayer.
"Tyson goes over to take a look at Marvis Frazier, obviously quite concerned..."
hahahahahahahaha
Tyson was a beast. The dude won most of his fights before the bell even rang.
Mike Tyson was terrifying back then. Just an absolute wrecking machine.
No problem. Why don't you post a video on here too. Get ready to rumble.
Ahhh the great Marvis Frazier lol :)
Tyson is just a fighting man he demolished all of his aponents we will never see the likes of him again not in my lifetime he was the greatest
the video is pretty long considering how short is the fight. I wonder how much are the tickets... 5/5
one of his best/quickest fights!
its no wonder frazier retired afterwards.
Absolute destruction...
Jim Lampley hahaha that hair
Aloes Wallau was in my opinion the best boxing commentator ever. He always seemed to be right on with his boxing analogy. He later became President of ABC but I sure wish he would get back in front of the camera.
The best :D
Still this is life and even though it hurts to even think about it turning out the way it did, at the end of the day I know for a fact had Cus still been around Mike wouldn't have turned out the way he did. tyson in his 20s is the greatest ever
My uncle told me he had his popcorn set out and everything ready for at least a few rounds of action...and barely got to gulp a few kernels.
he knoked da f* out..tyson is a legend!!!
I was bored one Saturday and changing the channel and this happen to be coming on. It was the first time I saw Mike and I said to myself oh this is the next great one nobody's going to beat him....
gotta love Mars lol
prime tyson....best of all time
is this the one where in the interview tyson wouldn't answer the reporter's question?
Its a perfect example. Frazier was NOT defensive and was not trying to make Foreman follow him in the 1st fight. He tried to pressure Foreman by coming forward and Foreman rocked his world in 2 rounds. In fact Foreman kept pushing Frazier off to keep him at distance! Although in their second fight Frazier didn't come forward. He kept distance and depended on his upper body movement and counterpunching to beat Foreman but Foreman STILL crushed him. this needed a part 2?
All around the mulberry bush,
the Tyson chased the Frazier,
the Frazier couldn't get away...
POP!
Down goes Frazier!
@TintoyKumag
did you mean 3 rounds or 3 seconds?
did u live with cus and mike?
Marvis was scared to death from the beginning. He practically ran to the ropes. Reminds me of how Liston intimidated Floyd Patterson.
This night Tyson was at his best !
see the look in his eyes...he's scared, he's scared, he's mine...he's mine....
Lol just realized that mike threw the same jab-uppercut combo throughout the entire fight!
Alex Wallau---> "Marvis must move or we're gonna be outta here very very quicky."........3 seconds later Wallau is proven to be a prophet.
before the fight frazier tried to scare tyson with an angry look but it seems that it didnt work
FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!
It's always funny to hear ring commentators try to convince viewers that it might be a competitive fight, when they know it won't be.
does somebody know why he got so angry and jumped around and screaming right after the fight?
one day i read that somebody from the audience wanted a ''piece of him'' and he got really angry and wanted to fight that guy...but i dont know where i read that, and i dont know if its true.
hope ya know it....?
grz
send out that tyson vs lewis, holyfield
@BeirutWedding I remember this fight vividly...It was kind of strange at the end after Marvis was knocked out, Joe Frazier enters the ring to see about his son...With Marvis still seemingly woozy, Joe held his face and looked him in the eye and laughed....I never will forget that...It struck me as being odd and insensitive..
fazier sr look like he wants to take his sons gloves of and fight tyson himself
Anyone else see this on that JCPenney commercial?
tyson was at his best here in 1986,not because he ko's frazier in 30 sec but because he still had the residual effects of damatos teachings and slickness and he didn't get influenced yet,so for practical purposes, this is tyson at his best and this tyson might have had the focus to beat a holyfield, lewis or bowe at his stage of his career.
@instereovideos
Who were the other two?
You want to box me too I see. Bring it on CableGuy.

@BlaZiiNxIIxGuNn3R not joe louis..
Leyenda de los mejores de toda la va historia del boxeo
when i first seen this i thought mike sent that boy home
Who thought putting Marvis in with Tyson would be a good idea ?
Mike knocks him cold in under 20 seconds .
To say it was a mis-match is an understatement .
Tyson barely broke a sweat . !!
id love to see joe fraziers reaction to this
Tyson hit him so hard that its now feb 2009 and Marvis is still knocked out
Its August 2018 and Marvis still can't eat solid foods.m
video is blurry as hell, don't quit your day job
Frazier's problem was Frazier (the father). He was too tall and lanky, to fight in his father's style. He would have been better served, fighting more like ALI, but Joe would NEVER allow himself to admit this. Plus, Marvis needed more experience and power.

I thought his value had gotten up after he was released from prison. He was getting around $30 million for fighting relative nobodies.
If it was me in the ring against Tyson, i would get knocked out in 2.3 seconds! Tyson Wins!!!
marvis frazier had 56 wins and only 2 losses in his career it seems he was a good fighter
I got to go with Foreman beating Tyson purely on the match up of styles. Would have been an awesome fight
»» "МАЙК- ТАЙСОН " ВЕЛИКИЙ БОКСЁР!!!.........
@MilkyLicker3587
Tyson was out of shape but he should have been in his prime, he was only 23.
triggert alot of sport writers have sadi he hits like foreman even former light heavyweight champion jose torres said in his book he has power like foreman and marciano but is way quicker and maybe if he don't hit harder his right up there for sure
joe cortez was the ref for this fight, he reffed tysons last fight, what a difference he witnessed
Tyson had fists made of steel.
Against Tyson Foreman would've used the same tactic he used fighting Frazier; pick him apart from a distance then bomb him when he's hurt.
.....toasted almonds. These are some of the....Back live in the Glen falls civic center..
@capablemachine Marciano was closer to 190 he ran up to 15 miles per day to trim down to that weight.
Tyson came smoking like Marvis's father...lol
hmmm.. I wonder whatever happened to the Mars candy bar?
Because Frazier has a hard head and can take a hell of a beating. The late Hunter Thompson once referred to Joe Frazier as a "human hamburger" and THAT says it all.
...and that's how bobble heads were invented!

yeah I think they are confusing frazier for ali.
Ali was the one who fought foreman defensively.
Dundee also trained Sugar Ray Leonard, swordgod. Not much doubt Leonard was great, especially as a welterweight.

all that muggin marvis was doin amounted to what when the "rubber hit the road?" he was one of tyson's quickest meals!
@Ahmet1445
I agree with what you are saying, but my point is simple...His dad did at the highest level that was possible and did so because he had to, not just because he wanted too...Marvis lacked the it his dad to succeed at that level and should have tried to be great in something else...I know we all want to make our dad's proud, but we should do it something else...
