I think the main reason for the huge dropoff of players is the lack of grindable content, which is kinda a good thing, since you don't have to put in hours upon days of effort just to get the base roster but some kinda replayability would have been nice too. Hopefully the DLC brings something like that to the table. All in all, it's a nice couch fighter to fuck around with your friends. Competitive sucks, yes, no doubt about it. The cheesy characters will definitely scare away the players on the low-end of the skill floor while the high skill players may find ways of good counter-play but overall feel frustrated by the high payoff and low skill requirement of these "cheesy" meta characters and that should be fixed.
Well for 1 yes the game has problems but it ain’t dead it’s just the butt hurt rage quitters that wanna see this game die because they’re either ass or wanna spam broken movies like afterimage strike or just use cheese trust me I’ve lost and I’ve learned from the opponents I’ve faced and I’ve gotten a lot better. The game will be okay most anime fighters are usually like this
I lost to afterimage strike 1 time lol. Even smacked a Z rank super vegito afterimage lover. Its not as OP or good as people think, its annoying sure, but nothing how people are making it seem. Gotta pay attention to ya enemies move set, then pay attention to the stocks, if they use 3 and are a afterimage character means start using ki blasts, grab, run, its a 15 second delay in the fight at best if you know how to dodge it.
@awhvex7188 people are to lazy to learn the game mechanics, once you know them, the game is way much better, but people just choose and refuse to believe they have a skill issue 💀
@@Pres100 absolutely not. One could say the same thing about ninja storm connections yet it only takes about 5 seconds (at most 1-2 minutes) to find a match in ranked. So i can’t imagine with a new game like sparking zero. Loosing 90 ain’t doing much people completely sh*tted on storm yet I can hop on and go into a ranked game within 5-10 seconds. People clearly want the game to die because they either can’t stand the cheese or can’t afford to be apart of the hype. Or they’re simply not good enough to overcome the cheese.
It's both the player base and the developer's fault. There's a reason why fighting game developers don't just make unblockable supers unless there's a HUGE weakness such as Grapplers supers. I think that the biggest issue here is that BandaiNamco wanted this game to come out as fast as possible so balance wasn't a priority and considering how many characters this game has it would be impossible to release it in a balanced state this year so yeah, the devs are to blame as well, make no mistake.
You know, yeah, I’d have to agree with this in a way, the game isn’t bad, the playerbase kinda ruins it for a lot of people, even casuals, as well as people who don’t even play ranked anymore. There’s a lot I don’t like about Sparking Zero, but that doesn’t mean I hate the game, I love it more than most anime games I’ve played since Raging Blast 2, Storm 4/Connections (yes, I like Connections, as shocking as that may sound, and yes, I know THAT game is bad, will NOT be defending that), but I’d be lying if I said Sparking Zero is bad because of what the playerbase chooses. They go out of their way to cheese, to troll, to grate on people’s nerves, and I won’t lie, I’m no exception to this either. I don’t want certain issues with this game to be resolved because I’M having a bad time, I’m fine where I am, I can’t stand this playerbase most of the time, and I’m at a point where I’m tired of dealing with it.
The problem _is_ the fault of devs because they created a game that is not balanced. There is no refuting this because they even explained that this was going to happen even before the game came out. So you cannot blame it on the players because gamers can only play a game the way it was designed to be played. It's not anyone's responsibility online to give someone else an edge, they want to WIN and that's what anyone participating in a competitive mode _should_ be doing. The community itself cannot destroy a game that is built properly, and that's all there is to it.
This is facts this goes for almost all fighting games. At first I was one of the ones who actually thought it could possibly be dying but then I realized this same thing happened with storm, street fighter 6, and other fighting games I played. They all eventually loose a good chunk but to me it’s hard to consider it “loosing” players since you can always come back and it isn’t a live service game like shooters. Are they gonna make a percentage on who comes back now? Lol. Do you see the logic? I think it’s pretty clear that frustrated/ angry/ people who can’t bare actually putting in effort to get good are the ones who want the game to die.
Plus think about it like this. Imagine you have fond memories of the old games of you winning and being good but then someone who barely even picked up the game yesterday effortlessly whoops you with cheesy tactics. That’d produce some real hatred 😭. I experienced these feelings with the new storm but I simply got ahold of how to bypass the cheese tactics and beat them with actual skill. I have a whole log of people texting me talking trash when I beat their corny tactics. Minatos are the worst.
This game was never winning game of the year let’s be honest but yea the lack of customization for the amount of characters they have is criminal especially since it was in older games plus once your done the half asses story mode, ranked is filled with rage quitters with no penalties Lmaoo thank god bo6 dropped not too long after
Not to mention story is ass only the what if’s are entertaining and custom battles are lack luster. Plus lack of content/customization for most characters. And if u got no friends to play this game with it ruins the experience even more.
This one comment is all you'll ever need. It's simple the game is dying because people are frustrated with how they are losing. Their solution: Complicate the game mechanics so stuff isn't spammable. What will happen: Implementing this solution will further widen the gap between people who have played for over 15 years and people who are jumping on now and people will simply leave because the skill ceiling is now too high. Evidence: Massive surge in reports about the Great ape fight, so much so it was patched. Tells you all you need to know about the community.
Agreed, it does tell you all you need to know I cleared that shit attempt 2 or 3 and have never touched a budokai game before in my life, plenty of other fighters though. Reminds me of that IGN playthrough/review of cuphead saying it's too hard and they're stuck unable to do a basic ass input in the tutorial section
Honestly I played tenkaichi maybe twice in the past 15 years by the time I played sparking I didn’t remember anything. So I went with standard controls for a new experience. The mechanics are cool but some inputs don’t register after other actions even when the character is idling. Other than that I have no issue with this game aside from weird takes of some character designs being inaccurate. I’ve played many ch harder games with much higher learning curves. Earths Special Forces.
