Big fan of the Beatles , help is my favorite songs, the harmonies, the guitar work, the bass,. And John Lennon who really was reaching out for help. Un known at the time.
I'm never quite sure why they stop in some takes before finishing. Notice how clear and concise these tapes are? How they have "Presence?" MUCH better than putting on your version (LP or whatever) and playing it at home, eh?
Unrelated, but in the mid 1960's my big brother's San Diego rock band went up to LA to cut a few demos. I got to tag along for the weekend. One demo was booked at Western and 2 more at Gold Star Studios. It was like a religious experience knowing that those places were like halls of rock 'n' roll fame. The day my brother's band recorded at Gold Star, "The Kingsmen" had been in earlier recording a demo to play for the A&R guys at Capitol and Liberty Records and the drummer had left his drum kit in the corner of the studio with the Kingsmen band logo on the kick drum. We took pictures like a bunch of Japanese tourists.
The Beatles take 1 and 2 and 5 is amazing. Thanks so much. I love Help in any form.
I love to hear the greatest band EVER work out their tunes. They seem almost human. Of course we know better.

Spot on!
That lovely descending run of George's present from the get-go.
How lucky to have been born in the same period when the Beatles were doing their creating!
Paul playing chords on bass in that last verse...a nice touch.

In those days, you were supposed to have extreme talent to succeed. And artists were not casted because of their body and looks to hit the big time.
Heip it be...
