Idk if its still free but brink was free on steam a couple years back and it had 17k people online playing mp. That was the only time to play that game at its peak and now im sure its long gone and dead

Open world or the structured open world of gears 5 and halo infinite imo were a huge set back to the games

This game was great for “turn off your brain” fun lol. Especially late game when your car is completely upgraded and you’re basically driving around a really fast artillery truck. Don’t really get why people hated it so much.

You named the reason people hated it. Not everyone gets value from sandbox gaming, so the grind and the half baked story will dissatisfy most players.
Rage 2 is a game you play for a bit and then uninstall it, thats why there are so many negative reviews, because there is nothing outstandingly positive about it, so those who had fun wrote no reviews.
I mean compared to the first game this was a huge letdown. It was the beginning of the fps meme where colors and UI cover your screen with so much text and explosions you dont know whats what anymore. First game was subtle and pretty much mad max the fps not rage 2 mad max fell into hell with a bag full of cocaine.
That's exactly why I hated it. Why the fuck am I playing if I can just aimlessly and brainlessly play it. Nevermind its nothing lkke the first one, which I actually liked.
Having Kev as my Fallout 4 companion for over a year now makes me think that in those spare moments between me dragging him around to kill Swan, and other random people, he finds time to record.
If you played this then played Doom Eternal on release you could almost feel how this game was a test for some of those mechanics lmao
Yeah, I thought the same when Doom Eternal released. To be honest, I actually think the combat in Rage 2 is just a tiny bit more fun than Doom Eternal. You have more abilities/powers at your disposal than in Doom Eternal.

The version Jesse was playing is a lightgun on rails build for arcades with ironically never ended up in any arcades I know of.

no its a doom playstyle thats combined with mad max aesthetic is all, and it gets boring, very fast unlike doom

Bulletstorm and rage were some of my most replayed games over the years on the 360 and memories and nostalgia that will stay with me til I die
Forgot how much I loved this game until I watched this. Gonna have to have a replay.
The cheats in this game were awesome, especially having the nba jam announcer on my side.
The dlc gives you jedi powers btw, and a sick melee feltrite sword
Fun fact Kev avalanche software who worked on this also worked on both the Just Cause series and an actual Mad Max game from 2015.

The problem with rage 2 is the open world is entirely unnecessary. We should have just gotten a campaign with levels. The combat sections I feel are too short.
Also, the Authority is just the Stroge in this game.
Also rage 2 does not follow rage 1 as rage 1 was full of zombie mutants as your primary enemies
The problem with Rage 2 is its not particularly great. The open world is the least of its problems, the gunplay is the best thing about it. Everything else is pretty generic, the "story" is about as bad as the first game, its a joke how short it is and, there is really no reason it couldn't have been coop.
@lutherheggs451 Yeah, the story is a joke. The game should have been about this war with the Authority instead of it being a background detail. It's combat is great, the powers and guns are awesome.

This was a weird game to me. In my opinion the first one was a really underrated classic and this just wasn’t what I was expecting from a sequel

I wouldn’t say annoying, def repetitive but honestly does better than some games even today. Whether it be different enemies or having multiple ways to kill I feel like it holds up decently well. Can’t vouch for 2 as I have not played it but nothing in 1 ever felt annoying to me

@@kiillabytez well considering what time period it came out in, compared to other at that time. It’s not bad. One of the trophies was for the racing tracks and such and I felt they were a breeze. Ofc I don’t play many games w driving in it, if it’s not the main focus of the game. But I didn’t quite consider it annoying mechanic wise, now how much driving you HAVE to do can almost compete w gta5🤣 that is abysmal. There prob are a few rage moments that are coming back to me while typing, abt the driving and racing, but not serious enough for me to recall this moment, nothing a bit of getting used to didn’t help solve

The major plus about this game is the combat, when you max all skills is so much fun, i really liked it when it came out

The gunplay is so good that it makes up for the bland open world trappings.

This game is one of those fever dreams that is very underrated. I love this game.
Just like the first game this one also suffers from having no story to speak of but in terms of gameplay and just game feel it is a blast to play.

I was replaying this just a few days ago and of you play on ultra hard, or whatever its called, it’s a whirlwind of bullets, explosions, and gore.

Just played this for the first time recently. Incredibly short story and a very strange open world
Rage 1 had a thing about the enemy's HP pool being about 1000% bigger anywhere on the body but they could barely take a bullet to the head. Glad to see THAT hasn't changed.
I remember having so much fun with this game. It was like DOOM meets Just Cause, tons of fun and weapons/vehicles and satisfying combat. It looked really pretty too. I don’t remember being wowed by the end of the storyline, but I definitely didn’t find much to complain about

I had so much fun with this game. it was my first of that style fps game, and boy did i love it.
I got the special edition for £20.
It's a fun game that keeps you on your toes.
Once you're leveled up you are practically unstoppable.

This game is really underappreciated; knowing nothing about the franchise I just decided to try it out on GamePass last year and had a blast playing it for a week straight. I love post apocalypse games and this one has some surprising good lore with it; plus the gun and car combat is sick.

I only remember the first and that I forgot to beat it. That phrasing was a little weird but yeah, the only R2 thing I know is I think some game reference as a weapon, BFG I think? Please correct me if I am wrong.
