DAMN!!!...Thank God he's ok! +160mph wobble...Whew! I had a kz1000(1105 kit) that would do that 115-120. It never went down but it comes on quick and scary. Kudos to him for handling it.
It is something that he walked with minor injuries. It's actually common with harleys for the bearings for the swingarm to go bad. If left unchecked and unfixed the rollers of those bearings will disintegrate thus, creating the wobble of death. the more power, the faster those bearings go bad. Harley knew of this for some time and many of bikers died because of this. There were aftermarket kits to help with this issue. Harley finally came up with a patch/fix with a stabilizer from the front head to the frame. I went though two sets of bearings on my 2003 before I found an aftermarket kit. Well good thing he is alright and I'm sure that it can be buffed out as they say.
@@cycledrag As I said above. the bearings for the swing arm for the back wheel disintegrated. The wobble of death is very common with harleys, but harley wont tell you this because it would open a big door for those whom have died or been hurt from this. Bottom line, if you ride a harley that has been increased in power, get those bearings checked every 3 to 5k or if the backend feels a bit of a wiggle at the rear. If unchecked a rider can lose total control to the point it will flip the bike on it's side and it happens so fast you can not stop it at higher speeds like 50+. And this is riding normally,
I'm no expert but I think what happened was, at that speed the front tire was barley touching the ground, and when he passed the finish line he let go of the gas and the weight transferred to the front wheel but it wasn't straight, so unfortunately a wobble started.
+2 here........my old Kawie H2 triple required 2 steering dampers plus tapered roller steering head bearings and an overlength swingarm to get rid of its habit of doing the funky chicken at about 110 mph! Some spooky shit there.
Would highly recommend a fork brace and a steering damper if not already there. That bike is moving pretty good, nice work to the team 👍 My 300+hp turbo gsxr/cbr went into tank slap after just starting to lift the front wheel at 140mph on uneven road. Ended up going down but the bike and all ok, other than some rash. Wheelieed it to 170mph countless times and 205+mph top end runs with no issues. (Many examples on my channel) It's when the front wheel just starts barely tapping the ground when the cylic action starts of a wobble.most of the time only way out of it is to apply more power to pick it up off the ground completely.(if you have enough reserve power to do it at the speed your going) a good damper and rigid forks definitely help stop the cyclic action from starting.

I was following a guy last year that hit a bump at 45mph, The brand new Harley death wobbled, he high sided and it spit him out into the ditch about 30 feet. Harleys are dangerous. I hit the same bump at all different speeds all the time, it's on a back road headed home. I've hit it from 30-130mph. I don't know if he had a bad set up or what. In my mind, it was a combination of all the shit hanging off the bike catching the wind and the poor Harley swing arm design. Either way, I haven't seen dude out riding anymore. Good job Harley.
@@cycledrag IMO, it was bad set up across the board. When I helped him off the road, there were wifey things scattered all over. So his suspension was probably set stiff for a passenger from the dealer. He had full running boards, Fairing and bags. Wen he hit the bump, air got under the bike and the suspension didn't react properly. Then with it being a brand new bike, the soft tail, the stock motor mounts and the fairing caused a low speed wobble that he couldn't recover. One of the running boards hit the ground breaking his traction, then when the tire came back down, It spit him over the high side. He had a helmet and landed off the shoulder in the weeds. So he was just scraped up. The bike didn't have a single part that didn't get messed up, It wasn't bent up or scattered, just scratched all to hell, all over. I'm surprised he was able to hold on as long as he did. It was pretty violent. At about 45mph. I ride a Suzuki GSL1000 it doesn't pull that kind of shit. That's why I say Harleys are dangerous, when compared to well behaved bikes. I'll say the same thing about rockets. I had a bike that liked to do the tank slapper, not for me thanks.

@@cycledrag like the other guy said, rear wheelbearing on the belt side of Harleys tends to go bad, maybe because its under constant pressure from the belt, and that belt likes to bounce and shake under load rather violentley, eats the bearings next to the belt pulley. Unless he is running a chain, in which case on a Harely he probably has no rubber cushion. I ran a Performance Machine aftermarket wheel with no cushion on GSXR that wore the bearing on the sproket side, especially 6in extended. On a v-twin thats much worse. All v-twins eat chains and sprokets, and wheel bearings if there is no cushion, which there is not.
