I have the demonfx and the real JHS ones of these pedals. They are close but not the same. The JHS one has a darker more muddy sound than the d/fx pedal. The d/fx pedal has a more glassy sparkle to it that give notes and chords a more defined clarity over the JHS one. I did a full review on Sweetwater for my purchase but after a while now I still don't see it. I don't knock the JHS pedal but only state what I hear between them. With a $50-60 price shipped for the d/fx one and a $230 shipped price for the JHS one it's a no brainer. I have had my d/fx pedal for a year now and with 75+ hrs of play time it still works and sound as good as the day I got it. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the feedback. I’ve actually been pondering purchasing the JHS one, just to compare but it sounds like you have that covered. Thanks again, much appreciated.
@@Tone-Quest It really comes down to the price thing. It's not that the JHS pedal is bad it just isn't a greatly different/better pedal. There is just a very noticeable clarity difference between them. I have spent hours trying to get that sound out of the JHS pedal and never was able. My only guess is if I used a setup like josh or Andy Timmons (very expensive) The darker JHS pedal would clean up and have that sparkle. I even used a all tube amp and a Stratocaster, both low buck, which helped a little but if the demonfx can sound awesome with anything why spend the money. I opened up both pedals and the only thing the stands out is the JHS pedal uses 35v caps and the d/fx one has 25v ones. At least I think they are caps.
Regardless of the wattage.. full blast gains or EQ its stil clear and crisp.. and very versatile.. I'll will check on this and might buy one.. hopefully there is one here in the Philippines.
It is a fun pedal. I’ve left it on my pedalboard for now, along with the Demonfx FREEDMAN BE-ODX and they are both great pedals but I tend to favor the FREEDMAN BE-ODX currently.
I’ve owned the JHS version and this one. I don’t think there’s much difference outside of the color and the logo lol! They’re both the same on the interior. They use the populated boards as opposed to wired. If you wanna save a lot of cash…buy this!!! I’ve taken them both apart…boards are identical.

My buddy has both, he says there not the same but close enouph where he wouldn’t miss the JHS and could pocket $150 after selling the real one
I literally JUST this exact same comment on another review of this pedal, word for copy/pasted word, lol...
Great pedal. Very underatted

Thank you!!! 😃
Great review! Please tell me, in Two notes cab + did you turn on the preamp or amplifier or did you just use the cabinet impulse?
Thanks!
I just used the cabinet impulse response on the Two Notes Cab M+.
