- This is the new Aston Martin DB11 AMR, and everything you want to know about it! From a full in-depth walkaround to discover the changes and improvements, to taking it for a full top speed run on the Autobahn to 325km/h (202mph). Replacing the regular DB11, the new AMR version increases power to 638hp from the 5.2l twin turbo V12 and offers a host of tweaks and refinements so let's take a look at whether Aston's super GT is now even better?
To date, Aston Martin have sold 4,200 DB11s including the original 1,000 Launch Editions - of which my father owns one in the same colour as my test car here, Mariana Blue. It's had a fairly short lifespan of under 2 years prior to being replaced and upgraded to the DB11 AMR, however with the new Vantage hot on the heels of the DB11 you can see why the temptation would be there to introduce more to the big brother. With other variants available in the line-up including the DB11 V8 and Volante convertible, the AMR sits at the top with a price tag of £174,995.
A Signature Edition comes pre-specified at a cost of just over £200,000 in the distinct Stirling Green and lime halo package with full carbon fibre options and only 100 will be made, one of which we can explore inside the showroom at the AMR Performance Centre at the Nurburgring along with a Vulcan AMR Pro.
Let's get started with a full walkaround of the DB11 AMR, exterior and interior and talk about the changes before hopping in for a drive in the countryside. Next it's time to stretch the legs on the Autobahn and see what the GT is capable of; with a run up to 325km/h on the dashboard in one direction and 306km/h in the other - impressive capabilities, especially when considering how smoothly it goes about it.

Thats really a nice car. Love your review. But you can be assured, the backseats do work on short to medium distances. Getting in and out is a problem though. When I had the "normal" DB11 V12 for a few days we drove with up tp 4 people in it, all over 185cm tall. Though the one behind me (driver) had no legroom at all, the other two (switched places a few times) said that the backseats were no worse than in a 2012 Golf, only headspace could be slightly more but you can lean to the middle. That car is just an absolute daily driver dream car with only one ginormous downside - the price.
Excellent review. I can not wait until tomorrow (28/7/18)to pick up my DB11 Volante. It is a super wow car.
I feel like moving to Germany just for the autobahn! I wish we could have that kind of road in spots. We don't have the drivers that Germany has however. The DB 11 AMR sounds like a great vehicle and one more reason to consider purchasing the brand, well done Tim!

Seems like amr should of done alittle bit more to change it from the regular edition. Is it unique enough. I also agree why amr this car over the vantage. I assume the vantage will get the treatment eventually should of been there at launch though

That Mariana Blue is the best colour for the DB11 in my opinion. Have to say I really don't like what Aston are doing with the highlighter yellow trim. The DB11 is supposed to be classy above all else but that colour trim makes it look like a ricer.

Something about tan interiors that’s just so relaxing and beautiful. Too bad my jeans rub off on them and they turn blue on the sides after time. Guess I’ve got to switch to Khakis next time. Lol

Drop in performance from first run to second is staggering. Yes wind does have it's effect but hardly that much. I am wondering if engine was either heatsoaked or it shat it self already and make few more runs and it will be lots of noises.
I really try to like Aston Martin but .. they just seem a bit too plain inside for me. I must admit, I like all the bells and whistles .. haha :-)
