Good review - I purchased an RTL-E recently and love it for what it is. FYI to late viewers - The reason the in bed trunk has a switch in the glove box is so you can lock both the glovebox and trunk and separate the key from the transponder. My guess is for a valet purpose or someone borrowing your vehicle.
The volume buttons aren't quick or precise to adjust the volume. It's "push push push push push" or push and hold and try to get it right. A knob just works better much of the time, in my opinion.
I agree with you. It’s funny because all the cars I’ve purchased I always use the steering wheel buttons, they are more convenient, and I ignore the screen buttons unless I’m parked.
As an owner of this truck, I can say this review is pretty spot on. However, I haven't felt the torque steer mentioned or had any transmission hesitation either. The shifts are immediate and seamless in my Ridgeline.
So does the trunk lock with the remote along with the doors? The video makes it sound like you can only lock and unlock with the switch in the glove box at 23:00
If the trunk lock switch is in the "on" position, then the trunk is locked and unlocked along with the doors. If the switch is in the off position, then it's locked all the time regardless of the doors.
I have a 2016 Pilot with the 6-speed, AWD model. Im not sure if its the same AWD system as the ridgeline but im going to assume its pretty similar. I havent felt any torque steer, but i have noticed the Transmission hesitation, its not bad but it is there.
I love the new Ridgeline! especially after reviewing it for the past 6 months. it's an amazing truck! I don't see or notice all the negatives you do, but to each their own. :)
I think a lot of the hesitation you describe has more to do with the VCM system than the transmission. A driver who drives as hard as you appear to in this video would probably do well to have that system disabled with an option in the aftermarket.
I have a 2017 Honda Ridgeline and my wife and I are happy with it. It get better gas mileage than the 2006 Frontier which was a four-cylinder. My son had a 2008 Ridgeline and it was a good truck and this seem to be a little better.
not 100% about what you showed at 23:00 about the trunk lock. The truck with trunk is what attracts me to this vehicle. So if the switch inside the glove box is in the NOT locked position, you can open the trunk ALWAYS? even when the car is locked (i.e. with the remote)
Justin George - yes, nearly top of the line. The black edition is one step higher, but that's more of a cosmetic/appearance package. Glad you liked the review!
The radio, learn the steering wheel controls, there you have volume that's not touch and the little round source button gets you easily to what you want to control. I had a lot of the same complaints, until I learned how the controls worked on the steering wheel. I agree about the trim, how long before it starts looking scratched up, how many times will I miss with my coffee cup before the black trim around the cupholders start showing wear. My 06 Ridgeline didn't have that problem, but the '17 sure is pretty right now! By the way, the voice control actually works pretty good also.
Funny these reviews bashing on the finger prints over touch screens. Being an owner of this vehicle for 2 months I still don't see this is a problem. If you can deal with the finger prints on your iphone you can deal with this.
Crazy because I have a 98 honda hatch fwd & it drives exactly the same with 170k miles. It can accelerate but it takes a second to downshift automatically or upshift
It's a Honda - a hood prop is more than adequate for what little the hood needs needs to be raised. Hood struts are nice for brands that require more frequent maintenance or repair. Some brands need foot-operated POWER hoods as often as they need to be raised. :)
Gawd Im tired of hearing the ice bullshit in every ridgeline review. I guarantee you not a single ridgeline owner has ever put ice in the trunk. That plug is there so if the trunk get dirty you can power wash it then drain the water out.

Everyone mentions the touch screen volume but then completely ignores the volume buttons right there on the wheel.

I suppose. They've been fine for me. If I need to mute quickly, I hit the audio power button.
To each their own.

good point
Comfort of SUV, practicality of pickup. Mind blown!

Chris O ahhh thanks for the clarification

0-60mph was 6.18 seconds from my timing. Impressive!
Master Yoda That's basically on par with my Civic Si.

Second door should open wider, I guess you can taken it to an auto body shop to fix it!

Chris O this is not a video you made
This truck is the best I ever own, I used ti own Dodge Ram quad and let me tell you something the Ridgeline is better by far.
Great video! That's exactly why I loved the Ford Explorer Sport Trac and was disappointed when they discontinued it.
They're somewhat fast for a pickup plus you don't have intrusive wheel wells in the bed. You can lay down full sheets of plywood.
I'll go one farther and say I'd love a Nissan NV200 pickup. Bench seat, 4 cylinder, CVT is fine, big windows, I'd be a happy pickup buyer.
But I also love the Ridgeline Black Edition.
Thanks for watching! If you have any questions on the Honda Ridgeline, let me know!
How much is it?
In the US, it starts at $29,475. This version was highly equipped, would be around $41,370.

Chris O The Ridgeline is such a nice truck! I want to test drive one :(

Yes.. I agree.. I wish Honda would get rid of the infotainment system and just stick with traditional knobs and manual controls on the dashboard.
I don't know why companies still use touch screens. They require too much of your attention when your driving.
Don't worry maybe in 10 years we will have lots of boring self driving cars...
I like your povs alittle more because you talk more & review good
Can you lock the tailgate?
I am pretty certain this truck is actually an RTL-E.
You are correct! I'll fix the title...
whats hwy mpg average
The wheel spin was your fault because you brake torqued it.
is it a durable car
MI has a lot of bad roads.
AMGMATIC try Indiana's roads
AutoPro , try New England roads.
Would of been nicer if you did this review during mid day. Sun problems.
OMG VTEC
$40K+, and still a propped hood? Cmon, Honda.

That is a nice truck for ladies.
Interior matches the crv

If you are a chevy fan, it is a new 4 door ElCamino. Ford fan? 4 door Ranchero. Sums it up simply and clearly.
F150, every other truck is history 16:41
Looks like a Mitsubishi l200
This not even a truck, it's a mini suv. lol
