I knew I'd be a lifelong fan ever since I heard 'Body' for the first time. Her approach on songwriting is so beautiful. It's like an inner voice, that coaches you through the heartbreak, love, fears and crooked truths that life throws at us.
Pre Pleasure is an absolutely phenomenal album. Lyrics, arrangements, performances, mixing, everything is just blisteringly good. Seeing Julia and her band play the new songs live a few weeks ago was also such a fantastic experience. The talent is off the charts.
I think the thing that keeps Julia’s quality, live and recorded, is that her performance is honest. It comes from a very deep and natural part of her life experience. It comes out as organically as if she was simply retelling her life but with all the emotion she felt at the time. I love her band here too, such great harmonies and you can tell they’re feeling it.
Saw Julia live in Dublin this month and she blew us away. The band need some serious credit too, they’re so locked in. Mimi is such an awesome bass player
watched the whole thing with tears in my eyes. "ignore tenderness" is such a meaningful song for me, and i can tell it means a lot for her to sing this live. also so happy they played "to Perth"!!! everything keeps changing!!! love this woman so much. glad to say she's been a part of my twenties.
Julia is the best and I'm loving the new record. Missed her earlier this year when she cancelled her shows with Courtney, but I've seen her twice prior and she's amazing.
Remember finding the crushing album few years ago whilst going through a hard time. Was one of most beautiful albums. Took a while to get past ‘don’t know how to keep loving you’. Then even longer getting past ‘when the family flies in’. Can’t wait to see her on the 11th at the roundhouse in London
Every album julia makes just gets better and better. Her first will always be my favourite album in the world, but that’s because it ignited the love affair with her work. Seeing her perform, as she gets better and better, with an even better and better lineup of other word class musicians is a treat I always look forward to. Having Mimi Gilbert on Julia’s live roster is also a whole new level. She just never stops evolving.
Met Julia as she was carrying her guitars to her tour bus in Phoenix. I told her thank you so much for your beautiful music and for sharing your feelings on this new record because I feel like we all can relate. 👏🏽💕
I discovered Julia on Spotify a little over two years ago and the song that really caught me was "I don't know how to stop loving you". I had just gone through a difficult break up and something about that song helped me get over it. At the same time I made a really good friend who's been there for me in so many ways ever since. He says that he will always connect that song to me as a person, he says it sort of defines me. I would say that the whole album it's on is totally amazing and a great introduction to her as an artist! I definitely can't stop loving her ❤️
To Perth never fails to put tears in my eyes and send me back to the deep emotional pain I felt during my break up with my ex of 7 years. “Everything is changing” “ i’ve got a feeling I won’t do it alone. It’s just a feeling though.”
Been a fan of Julia's for awhile now but this new record is something else. Incredible songwriting from front to back. Thank you for this in-studio KEXP!❤
I thought it was a too big of a coincidence when I found out that Julia and Stella Donelly gonna each play just one night apart in Dublin... Suddenly seeing now Jennifer in Julia's band makes total sense 😀 So I'm gonna see both of my favourite Aussies one after another. I'm beyond excited! Anyone else here gonna see both shows?
Hope the European leg of the tour goes well! Wish I could be at the Parkteatret show, always wanted to go to Norway. Looking forward to the next time you play Brisbane.
hope you guys invite julia and the band for every album cycle :) truly some bangin' recordings all the time when she stops by kexp. and they always sound excellent live -- even better than the original recordings, I'd say. edit: this version of to perth, before the border closes -- mamma mia. that's a-spicy
Loved her music. But I saw her outside the venue in Brighton the other day and she was very rude when I said hello. My enthusiasm for her music is no longer the same 😢

Lydia wears a cross is my daughter's song. I sang it to her in the womb and when she was born and I held her for a while.

Well said! Her lyrics are direct and honest and that's part of what I love about her music.
Mimi’s harmonies are absolutely beautiful. Plus the bass lines are killer
the bassist truly stood out, loved her tone and her bass' tone, too.
And her own albums are beautiful too!
What’s her surname so I can look up her music?
@@stanislasdarjeeling Mimi Gilbert!! :)
@@stanislasdarjeeling While you're at it, look up Angie McMahon, too!

I absolutely adore Julia Jacklin! Thanks, KEXP!

Julia is the best and I'm loving the new record. Missed her earlier this year when she cancelled her shows with Courtney, but I've seen her twice prior and she's amazing.
Love her so much, my wife and I caught her a couple months ago at Stanford and she was the highlight of the evening hands down.

Loved her previous KEXP performance. Really enjoying that one, in particular that version of to Perth, before the border closes
Julia's music is just beautifully crafted and delivered. Love her music, especially the latest album!
Julia and her band are fucking gems oh my god

Ah Julia's explanation of her album title is making me tear up a bit! Love it.

I love seeing how global Julia is, and when I see her play in Melbourne it’s just like heavens gates have opened. Her voice will always comfort me ❤
See you at the Forum in March!

It's the album I didn't know I needed in this time period. Spiritually lazed in your comfort forever.

She just radiates comfort, i love her

Good Morning: She gave a great show (with Katy Kirby opening) at San Francisco's Fillmore. Might have even worn the same clothes.

Where's my girl Cheryl Waters? 😢
loved her getting so choked up the last time Julia was on here
I also fondly remember Cheryl hosting Julia‘s last visit at KEXP. But let’s not forget that Evie is doing a great job, too. ♥️
☁☁☁
Nice. What even is Jen's main instrument?
giving me Sarah Snook vibes!
BUY JULIA'S MERCH
What a sad session 🥲the music and the interview both depressed me😰
Loved her music. But I saw her outside the venue in Brighton the other day and she was very rude when I said hello. My enthusiasm for her music is no longer the same 😢
Your best day could be someone else’s worst. Never know what someone is going through.
