What kind of lighting do you provide for the quail? I presume that those Christmas lights are just for decoration. Thanks for sharing your set up. Very creative.
Wait, I have one of these shelving units disassembled in the garage. Only difference is it has that nasty particle board for the shelves. I also have all this hardware cloth. Hmmmmmmm
@@thelarochellefarm595 haha 😂 I'm clearing a spot for the shelves to go and then it's hammer time... Well I guess I'm not going to use a hammer, but drill time just doesn't sound good haha
@@thelarochellefarm595 also thanks for the inspiration, I'm sorry I should have thanked you first! This is going to give us a lot more capacity for eggs and meat.
We luckily don’t have rats around here only field mice. And they do not bother the quail. I would suspect that the largest opening in all roll out cages is the area for the eggs to come out. That would be the largest opening in my setup also.
Thanks That did help!! I will copy a bunch of what you did here, My shelving unit is a little diff but should work about the same. garage sale buy on the shelving unit for $10 so couldnt pass it up.

No those are the actual lights I use for additional lighting to keep them laying. They look nice and are effective

I've seen some good videos on using the shelving for cages .. Definitely a clever idea and can find them sometimes at a restore or yard sale
Any problem with rats getting in the cages?
