    Yes! That’s exactly the way my Lark T-shirt looks. Thank you so much for this explanation, I kept thinking “dart?” , but the problem wasn’t that it was pulling at the sides, it was just the extra stuff under the arms! I’m off to resize my pattern for another try! Thank you so much.

    thank you for walking us through this! Question, you measured down 5" on the side and marked a notch - why 5"?

    • @StephanieRubletz
      @StephanieRubletz  4 года назад

      Oh good question! I just went back and watched it and I really didn't explain that well. I chose five inches because that would take me a bit passed where that dart in the front was. A much bigger bust might have to go another inch.
      I did mention that I should have marked the five inch notch before I did the slash and spread to make the dart. After making that dart the sides of my front are now longer than the back and when I ease that in, I want all the extra ease to be around the bust. So marking that five inches before I do the dart will help me keep that ease where I want it. From the notch to the arm, I have to stretch the back to match the length of the front. From the notch to the hem, I just have to match up my sides.
      I hope that answers the question. Thanks so much for watching ♥️

    • @jeanbrown9127
      @jeanbrown9127 Год назад

      I’m thinking she didn’t adjust the back, it just fit better because she cut the pattern size according to her upper bust measurement, rather than full bust measurement.

  • @honeywell891
    @honeywell891 3 года назад

    Hi Stephanie, I'm now spreading out my pattern. Now when you say measure down 5" down from the original pattern - are in excluding the seam measurement? (which in my case is 1/2" s.m.) I printed out the L and XL size. The L shows upper bust as 36.5" - XL shows u.b. at 38". I measure at 39". So I should use the XL??? you were talking about -ease...

    • @StephanieRubletz
      @StephanieRubletz  4 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching Christy! I don't have that video yet but I'm thinking I'll have to put it into my que. The basic adjustment is executed the same but when you subtract the full bust measurement on the pattern from your full bust to get the difference, don't split that in half for negative ease. Just split once because each half of the garment will take half of the extra fabric you are adding.

  • @julieryding2030
    @julieryding2030 Год назад

    Did you lengthen the back to match the front as you would in a woven, or literally ease the difference at the bust area? 🤔

  • @govegandude
    @govegandude 4 года назад

    Great video! Would you leave the excess fabric in the altered front if you were using woven fabric? Are there any considerations when doing a FBA using a woven fabric pattern? Thank you for doing this video!!

    • @StephanieRubletz
      @StephanieRubletz  4 года назад

      Thanks so much! If I were doing a FBA (full bust adjustment) in a woven I would turn that extra fabric into a dart by matching the edges or legs of the triangle and folding the extra towards the inside of the shirt and stitching along the dart to the apex. As for the excess at the bottom of the shirt I would still leave that in so there is enough fabric to fall over the bust and keep the hem level.
      I hope that helps. If you need more info, let me know and I'll do a video just on darts. ❤️

    hi step, first u look so beautiful, my question is if u use woven fabric then will u do 5 inch full bust adjustment or you will apply the method which u applied in knit fabric

    • @StephanieRubletz
      @StephanieRubletz  3 года назад +1

      Thank you Prashant! Yes the method is the same but unless your woven has stretch, you will need to account not just for the actual measurement of the front full bust, but a little extra wearing ease too. At least 2"wearing ease all around the full bust but you may choose to do more depending on the style and how you want it to fit. I hope that helps. Happy sewing❤️
