It is wrong to claim that wet zone rice is more toxic. Such claims are made with bogus science. There may be high toxic levels in some places such as Kalutara and near Kandy in the wet or intermediate zone because of toxicants coming down the river from higher elevations. Kidney disease or health epidemics are only in places where Hill Country water is used for rice cultivation.
