Super sweet tandem V.V. Nice job. Lovin the style and personalization of your build. I was trolling YT for ideas for a single rider tandem with rear seat removed and panniers added for distance camping and bike traveling/touring. This is close to my dream tandem. If rear seat was removed and a custom tube was added to allow 1 or 2 sets of panniers in place of the rear rider this would be an amazing cross country touring E-BIKE.
Wow..whatta great build!! I know your video is 2yrs old but still, I love the blingy lights and the super brights...how you're putting some love into an older bike. I'm doing a low power build on a beach bike tandem just for cruising around the lakes but all those great lights are giving me some ideas...thanks for the informative video.😁😎
Nice bike. I bike with my wife, but it is hard to talk sometimes, this would be nice. I put 7000 miles on my fat tire ebike, like you I never knew they existed. When I got mine, I felt like I was 16 again. 😀
Awesome idea Vic! Try using a Cycle Analyst to get some more efficiency out of your battery configuration. It will also make that acceleration you describe a little safer.
Very nice! I'm looking to electrify an old EZ Tandem I have and am thinking to start with a 1000w front hub motor. I think that should prove more than enough to begin with for me. Of course once you start modifying something, there is always one more thing to add!
If you go with a mid-drive motor in the rear instead of the hub motor, you may be able to go with a rear disc brake. And there are hub drive motors that have disc brakes. At least for the front anyway. You may have to go with one that is a little less power but you said that it's kinda too much power so that could work out well.
Thank you for the views the comments and the compliments it's greatly appreciated. As far as me adding a cromotor I would like to keep the tandem look as stealthy as possible not recognizable to the average eye it being a motorized bike or e-bike and keeping the motor noise down, as far as me and my rider and going insane speeds 40 miles an hour is okay with me that speed is a bit unsafe I know that power and speed is there but I rarely hit that speed unless I'm trying to get away from an unsafe situation.
I think you should put a cromotor on each end and then have 2 really powerful crank drives with a bunch of ridiculously powerful Kelly controllers to power them! Obviously put the fatter person on the front to keep the front end down! You will need a motor bike chain too.
Hi there, nice build! Does your frame have 145mm hub spacing in the rear? im trying to build a similar setup but my frame has 145mm spacing and its tricky to find a hub motor that will fit properly.
What I did because the Hub didn't fit on my rear as well just take a file and file the opening of where the Hub fits a little bit more it's okay it's still strong make sure you have that torque brace so you won't get a spin out on your Hub, file the upper part of your frame only not the lower

Great job. Really good vid. Can't wait to see the new build.

I like your bike. Perhaps consider adding a fairing, given how fast your bike is.
Good job putting it together!!
