Joe 😅😅😊
That is astounding. Not just for one person to play such a long very active piece, alone, but to have two people playing it as a duet and not getting a note wrong, and then dance all around the stage. I am huffing and puffing and my heart rate is up, and all that plus then admiring the personal shape and fitness of them both. I may need to call an 🚑
Dude to balance on those high heels is hard enough. To play the fiddle like that. While jumping and dancing on those high heels. And smiling too all the time. I can't begin to imagine how much practice went to this act.
I saw her 25 years ago in Detroit the first time Riverdance came here! She was outstanding even back then!! Have loved watching her over all these years!!
Mairead nesbitt one of the best and favorite violinlests ever with Celtic woman really enjoyed and appreciate you guys thanks job well done you should be amazed and proud love and appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock ! Joe
Joyous performance by two brilliant musicians. It's quite made my day watching it. Everything was good. Tech, choreography, costume all worked. Also the ladies seemed to be enjoying what the were doing so much that it made me feel good to watch them. Thanks everyone.
Beautiful violin, beutiful and flawless music, and need I say it, beautiful women! Thank you for posting! These kind of tunes,....why I love the part of my country called the Maritimes!
To those who doubt these ladies are actually doing this, I've seen Celtic Woman live and she is undoubtedly one of the best going period. She is doing it and it amazing when she does.
Nice one girls. Oh to play the "fiddle" like that, and what a brilliant piece of music it has always been. love the blue outfits too. Smith and Nesbitt forever. And this song and composer Arthur Smith, forever. Think I'll watch the clip from Deliverace again. Love to all.
Still now, thank you! Absolutely 💯 amazing ladies! Thank you for your passion and talent 🙏 💞! Even though I can never messure up, you make me proud to be a woman, a mother, a grandchild/"child" to an amazing Oma who was a musician 🥰😇
I completely agree with those who say "Just listen to the music". That's why "I" have chosen this song for my playlist. It's beautiful! I don't usually watch the videos anyway, just listen to my favorite sounds. I definitely give little thought to those who come here and just feel they HAVE to pick everything apart. Again,,,, just enjoy the beautiful music!
Not sure who is playing it but you have to admit it is a nice tune to listen to. But I cannot help checking out position and finger technique to see how others do it. Habit I guess.
I've heard "rumors" that even Celtic Woman has succumbed to the perceived need for their live audiences to hear the best possible sound, so things like this in their shows might be "dubbed" and/or lip-synced. I've always been more than eager to accept some accoustics issues and possibly a bit of a different "flow" than the recorded version of a song, as a part of seeing someone live. It's still great, though. I feel fairly certain these ladies played the song, even if it wasn't live for this video.
There are soooo many things happening here at the same time. Michael Flatley did something like this in his production, River Dance.....Remember that? Truly spectacular..... Absolutely magnificent performance here by these beautiful women..............
There are not enough words in ANY language that even begin to describe this!!!!! Watching two BEAUTIFUL women play like that and Smith dancing in 5 inch heels while she's doing it! INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I can't even walk & play my guitar at the same time...
Mairead is an excellent fiddler but nobody mentioned Cora Smyth. She is nothing short of brilliant and her and her sister Breda are two of the best musicians I have ever seen. Its not all about throwing the hair all the time.
I don't know why it is classed as 'dueling'. If anything they are perfectly 'accompanying' each other. :-) Love this so much it give me chill every time I watch it and the original Lord of the dance.
Kaos Although they are accompanying each other, this style of music is considered "dueling" because they're both increasing in intensity with their solos, as if they're trying to outdo each other, when they really are dueting.
To all that are saying this is fake and that no one can dance and jump around like these two ladies and play that accurately, I have new for you: yes they can. It just takes practice...A LOT of practice and die hard dedication to do something as unorthodox as this. If you don't believe me, look up a sport called marathon juggling--yes, it's a real thing--and see if that's "fake" as well.
You just need to see beyonkey and rhianna trying to sing and stomp about the stage can't, because they always run out of puff.....I reckon these two can dance about, play and do it for real, plus they entertain...
Great effort is made, by me, to live one day at a time. That day being Saint Patrick's Day. Listening to Celtic music always, with out fail, restores my spirits. Thank you for the upload.
I love that these two are dancing and playing flawlessly at the same time...but look. They're both wearing _heels._ I could never dream of doing something so energetic with heels like that. Especially Mairead's. How the hell.
Mairead nesbitt you should be proud of yourself way to go best wishes to you and everyone at celtic woman really enjoyed and appreciate your style thanks stay warm and dry out there ! Joe
They are great performers, both talented and beautiful. But Mairead has an advantage in the visual, with that magnificent mane of hers that she tosses with such great effect. Together, the whole thing is great.
This is DEFINITELY REAL!! I've seen Celtic Woman in concert and Marid Nesbit (The One with the Green Violin) is AWESOME!!! See dances around stage as she's playing. I've never seen anyone as good as her! Google her name of you still don't believe! 👀👍👏👏👏💯
I haven't seen her yet but I have seen the Harp Twins, they live about 300 miles from me and come to my area of Illinois once a year for a free concert, they will spends hours at a meet and greet after their shows.
Not sure if they are actually playing or not, but it can be done. I watched Kellie Trotier of Canada play a super fast set of jigs and step dance to herself at the same time. Really difficult, but very doable with a of practice and rehearsal. This looks like it might be the same. Show stopper, with a huge amount of effort, practice, and rehearsal behind it.
So much lip sync performers nowadays, that when someone performs for real, many doesn't believe it. Go to the concert and you can hear the music from the violin, not from the speakers.
Some very negative comments....A lot of people talking waffle...they have a good sound they look well... sit back and enjoy....enough from the critics....all the best players on the side line

I referred to it throughout my childhood as my happy song because I didn't know what it was. I would just ask my mom to play my happy song over and over.
I gotta say they are excellent but the audio has the audience going crazy as if they are jumping up and down. When we see the front row of the audience, they are not even clapping along. And when they finished, the applause we witness is not as enthusiastic as the audio lets on. Just saying. Also repeating that they are both great.
Just as I suspected. What you heard was a recording. At 3:40 their bows are off the strings but the note is still being played. Yea, they play awesome but if they are playing live the sound should be live.
No the speakers had a delay of about a second and a half i think but you could be right and they also might have put that in just the last part for the end note. We'll only know id we get ti from the source i guess lol
Sorry John, you are incorrect. There are two things in play here, beyond your ample ignorance. The first is, these are STRING instruments... ELECTRIC pick-up STRING instruments. Unlike, say, a trumpet which only creates the tone while air is moving through it, a string continues to vibrate until it is physically damped or it expends the energy applied to it. In the latter case, particularly with electric pick-up instruments, you will continue to hear the tone for up to 15 to 20 seconds after the note is picked or bowed. This is what makes the wa-wa bar in rock and roll possible as it simply would not work.. hell, there would be no rock and roll for that matter, far too many tunes rely on that reverberation. The second problem you are facing is audio processing and amplification delay. This is NOT an instantaneous process, though there have been significant reductions in the delay since Dolby. GENERALLY an audio processing delay of 0.28 seconds or less is considered to be acceptable, and this recording is closer to the low end, perhaps 0.10 to 0.15 seconds. The reason it is out of sync is because it is a LIVE recording, as opposed to a "movie" sound stage production... there is no snap board for each "scene". As such the edit is done strictly by RECORD TIME which makes it extremely difficult, if not all but impossible to remove the audio processing delay. What's some funny ass sh*t is that most new TVs with any kind of audio "tricks", like surround, built in produce an audio delay closer to 0.35 seconds on many older "analog" shows... and you never even noticed it... try tuning two different TV brands to the same station and turn up the volume, one of them WILL be the "echo". But here you are, wearing your ignorance like a badge of honor attempting to discredit people who do daily what is a lifetime away from your capability...

Mairead Nesbitt, such an adorable total talent package! She throws everything into her performances.

It's so wonderful to see her performance.
I saw her 25 years ago in Detroit the first time Riverdance came here! She was outstanding even back then!! Have loved watching her over all these years!!
Brilliant
There amazing
Nobody plays with the style, flare and ability as Mairead Nesbitt. I could watch and listen to her all day!
Nobody...except Cora Smith
Riverdance gave so much pleasure and the "Dueling Violins" is absolutely outstanding.
Not Riverdance. Lord of the dance. Big difference.
I've had the pleasure seeing Celtic Women live. I had no doubts about her ability to move, dance, and play - this is pure talent.
it still amazes me how ecstatic the audience is.
really love this piece.
