- I've had a bucket list item that's been screaming for me to complete it... taking in a pro hockey game in the nation of hockey, CANADA!
Just a 7 hour drive from Minneapolis, Winnipeg is the closest spot, but winter weather can make it quite dicey. Luckily the skies were clear, and only the low temperatures were the brunt of the weather complaints.
This is the second in a series of Winnipeg videos. To see the first one, click the link below:

You guys sound Canadian 😄
Now THIS is high praise. Thank you!
It was meant to be a compliment. You just seem like good folk😋
Proper Canadian experience. Plust the Bell MTS Centre is probably the loudest in the league.
@@BaseballRoadTripper, is that a comment about the legalization of marijuana in Canada? 🤔
I love how you LITERALLY walked 1 block from your hotel to the arena and you passed a Timmies...lol
Yeah that was great nothing more Canadian than hockey and Timmy’s
Having lived there, (and worked in the MTS Center) there are 5 Timmies surrounding the arena with 1 inside the arena, 1 in the mall across the street, 1 in the strip mall behind the arena, 1 at the end of the block and 1 in the underground mall
There is a Tim Hortons inside the arena, when the game is on .... only people at the game can go to that timmies.
And a MEC
I don't know how your video was recommended to me lol, but I am from Winnipeg, hope you guys enjoyed the city.
Sincerely, thanks for watching! I absolutely loved Winnipeg. If I could visit it right now, I’d return in a heartbeat. And if I could easily move there (citizenship and all that messiness), I’d highly consider it. The Festival du Voyageur and skating the Red River made the freezing temps WELL worth it.
@@BaseballRoadTripper its weird how someone that isnt from here loves it so much and most people from here hates winnipeg and manitoba entirely
@@barrettmartens9145 I think it’s probably pretty easy to see the flaws when you are living it everyday, while a visitor sees the greatness because the novelty hasn’t worn off. With that said, I’d still love to keep visiting and test that theory out.
@@BaseballRoadTripper hopefully once restrictions relax, id recommend a blue bombers game or a goldeyes game
@@barrettmartens9145 the Goldeneyes are right up my alley. I’ve seen some American Association baseball down here in St. Paul, and now that the Saints are no longer in the AA, it only gives me more reason to go to Winnipeg! (I’ll find any excuse.)
Stay safe and hopefully normalcy is coming soon.
I live in Vancouver but the Jets are definitely my favorite Canadian hockey team.
I used to be a Canadiens guy (Patrick Roy), but I think the Jets have won me over, too.
@@BaseballRoadTripper I'm also a Patrick Roy fan, greatest goalie ever 👍
Me too
I was at that game. Its nice to see the perspective of someone else. Glad you enjoyed it! GO JETS GO!
I hope to be able to return some day soon. I would say that the Jets are much closer to my hear than the Wild, easily. Even though I've only ever lived in Minnesota, I just cannot cheer for the team. Stay safe and stay warm!
@@BaseballRoadTripper when you do decide to come up, give me a shout, perhaps we can hook you up with tickets to the game.
@@bartomand3681 you rock! I will definitely let you know. I love meeting up with fellow fans. I’d love to pick your brain and learn more about the history of the Jets (and the city).
You flew all the way to Canada to witness a once in a blue moon occurance, the Ottawa Senators winning a game
10 some years ago I travelled from NS to Ottawa just to watch them lose. lol
I think I must be a good luck charm. I’ll reach out to the Sens and see if I can get on the payroll as such.
I’m Canadian but damn going to Winnipeg in the winter is nuts
Is it wrong that I hope the car wouldn’t start and I’d have no other option than to become Canadian? 🤷♂️😂
@Tutti Frutti we just hit -25°F the other night in the Minneapolis area. Who knows what the windchill was. If it isn’t about being a badge of honor, then I don’t know why we live where we do. 😂
The algo gods are with you my guy. You did a great job of capturing the full experience from start to finish and whoever watches this can expect exactly what you portray. Thanks for the 2160 upload as well, for that a big like. Great work!
Wow. THANK YOU!
What was amazing to see when you walked at hallway, nobody was watching their phones. Here in Finland people do it all the time. Great atmosphere, wish i could someday have a chance to watch NHL game live, real hockey fan.
We recently traded Laine but, we'd love to have you come for The Jets and The Festival du Voyageur and Folklorama!
That's pretty bad ass. Im a jets fan in Chicago, and someday, i will too, get to watch a game at bell mts.
Whew, glad you didn't say Blackhawks fan. I would fully recommend going up to Winnipeg and try to go when they have the Festival du Voyageur going on in the city - that looked incredible at night. Also, do the skating on the Red River at night. The city is just pretty and chill.
If you can only come in the summer, August would be good because of Folklorama or September for Preseason games.
@1:40 Across the aisle from the "Jets Hat Tricks" display where you were standing is a statue of Timothy Eaton, founder of Eaton's Department Stores. The MTS Centre (now Bell MTS Place) is built on the site of Eaton's original downtown store, and Eaton's statue sat for years on the store's main floor almost directly below where it sits now, surrounded by huge bronze plaques with the names of Eaton's employees who died in the world wars. If you look at it, you'll see the toes of it's shoes are polished and shiny --- Winnipeggers rub Eaton's shoes as they walk by for good luck. It's a Winnipeg thing...
THAT’S why the shoes looked like they were touched! This is excellent information. Thank you!
@@BaseballRoadTripper You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
And somewhere in front of the Legislature is a statue of a soldier who Ian Fleming based 007 on. Ron McClean said it in a broadcast.
@@mikeseverin0 Oh?! I'm intrigued...
Born and raised in Winnipeg but lifetime Flyers fan and that'll never change. Love seeing you guys enjoying yourselves in Winnipeg.
Hockey is always great, but skating the Red River and seeing Festival du Voyageur was awesome! Winnipeg is pretty sweet.
When I was in Montreal, I was a block away from the Arena... Loved that experience.
Thank you for the look inside! Always wanted to get to a Jets game. Hopefully some day I will.
I hope you can. It was truly a blast.
What is the name of this song at 3:41?
That was just a beat that I quickly made on some beat-making app. I tend to use it to cover up music being blasted at arenas/stadiums I go to, in order to avoid a copyright strike.
@RYAN GROSNEY good question, I’m not sure what the music in the arena was. Just covered it up with my beat in order to not get a copyright strike.
Hey, your too close to my apartment. Go away 🤣 but seriously tho, i love watching new fans reactions
I want to return soon. But I may try to do it in the summer. Golf a little, see a baseball game, explore the city when it isn't covered in snow.
Go Jets Go. Watching in the UK. ❤
Let’s get an NHL series in the UK again!
You’re welcome back to our rink anytime!! Go Jets! My favourite part of any Jets game is always the national anthem🇨🇦
Yes, the National Anthem with the "True North" shout-out!
Nicely edited! I watched the whole thing without skipping through, so you get a thumbs up for that! LOL
The Peg is one of my favorite places to watch NHL hockey.
I live 5 hours west of Winnipeg in Regina and I actually lived in Minneapolis for awhile when I was a kid - LOL
Thanx for sharin'!
Wow, thank you for cub kind words! I still have to get further west in Canada (Banff, Edmonton, Calgary, etc.). But I know plenty of great hockey names have come out of the Saskatchewan province.
Stay safe and hopefully being in person for NHL games becomes a reality soon.
Always more excitement when the home team wins but looks like you enjoyed yourselves :)
Glad you enjoyed Winnipeg. Come back soon!! (After Covid of course)
Did a HNIC in Toronto. Unreal experience. Just wish it was the old Garden. But still very cool.
Love the slap shot reference!
Thank you! Best hockey movie? Quite possibly.
Love you video and thx for coming to winnipeg , hope your stay was fantastic
You rock! Thank you! It was fantastic and I want to come back and do it all again.
I miss going to Jets games
nice one on getting a puck it looks good.
Thanks! This is the nicest puck I've gotten at a pro game, by far. All the rest have been standard black, no logos or print.
We love our hockey!!!!
Precisely why I loved Winnipeg (and love Canada in general). Please adopt Minnesota, we promise to keep up the tradition of loving hockey, enduring winters, and being friendly.
Very nice video. You seem like sweet kids. I'm glad you enjoyed the visit. I was feeling proud as a Canadian that you were enjoying the experience... and then the national anthem started... and smh... that particular singer's version of the anthem was weak sauce! lmao. Sorry you didn't get to hear 'Oh Canada' sung with some heart and energy! The slow, flat rendition you endured sounded like a lullaby... lolz. Not exactly a singer to get the audience pumped-up was he? heheh. I hope you guys will visit again when Covid is behind us. If you can make it to Toronto for a Leafs or Blue Jays game I think you will have a blast. So many things to do in Toronto, especially in the summer. You'd really enjoy a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame too which is open all year, so even if you came in the summer for a baseball game, you could still get your hockey fix at the HHOF. Take care, stay safe fellow sports fans :)
Thank you so much for the kind response. I’ve been to a Jays game and the HHOF, but not a Leafs game. My goal is to see a game in Toronto and Montreal... once this pandemic finally goes away. Thanks for watching and I’m looking forward to my next Canadian experience!
Damn covid lockdowns. I miss going so much
and now we know it was all a for a lie. You should be mad
Best seats in the house
I've only been to one game there, but it's hard to imagine a better seat/experience.
Great video but you made me miss going to hockey games so bad.Lol. Hope you had a great time up here.
Had the best of times up there. I definitely will return.
Nice couple and great vid
Cheers 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thank you for watching! You rock!
great vid keep them coming
Thanks, dude. Hopefully we can run into each other this year. What does your California travel schedule look like?
This is how hockey should be with fans and cheering! Not scared little hermits watching on TV
Well guys, Minnesota and Winnipeg share one thing definitely; Bud Grant! He both the Blue Bombers and Vikings in 🏈 Football !!
Bud Grant coached both the Minnesota Vikings and Winnipeg Blue Bombers...
RIP, Bud. The dude was a legend and the Vikings definitely have the Blue Bombers to thank for shaping him into the only coach to take them to the Super Bowl.
@@BaseballRoadTripperFun fact: The only Super Bowl where Fran Tarkenton wasn't the starting quarterback was Super Bowl 4, where former British Columbia Lions quarterback Joe Kapp led the Vikings to a 12-2 record in the regular season and then beat the Rams and the Browns to get to the Super Bowl.
The loudest NHL arena pre covid. Gawt nabbit sure miss live NHL game as millions of Canadians do. EH? 🇨🇦
I miss so many things, and being able to cross the border to see hockey in añada is one of them. But we’ve got to be getting closer!
Go Jets Go! 😊
Cool Video. Thank you from germany
Germany!!! I know very little German, and I don’t think you need to be told the only phrase I know, as it is strange and makes no sense.
Thanks for watching!
Good vid guys ,, welcome ,, it’s nice to share the excitement with you ,, not like the Montreal Canadians ,, they sit on their hands till they go numb ,, then they can’t hold their beer ,,,, ha ,,, go Jets go !!
Oooohhh... going after the Montreal fans! I love the Canadian rivalry. It’s my goal to see a game at each añadían home arena. So I’ll have to revisit this assessment and see if I agree.
Thank you for the Video
Thank you for watching!
If Winnipeg has an NHL team, no reason why Quebec City cant have an NHL team
BRING BACK THE NORDIQUES! The Av’s retro jersey sales alone show that there is a longing for the franchise to return (just like the Jets).
@@BaseballRoadTripper completely agree, visited Quebec City in 2017 and was blown away by how beautiful it is and the culture, and they still sell nordiques merchandise, definitely deserve a team, then we will have all are Canadian major city hockey teams, like we should.
right on, saw a couple of people i know sitting next to you
Yeah? That’s awesome! I hope to come back for another game, whenever that may be.
Great video! Is there a video for the Jets/Wild game that you pointed out near the end of this one?
Thank you so much for watching (and subbing). I’ve included a link below for that game, but it was cut short due to an unexpected panic attack. I HATE anxiety, but I’m glad it didn’t happen when in Winnipeg!
ruclips.net/video/vd-Z6JJgLMU/видео.html
That was good eh. Liked it. You 2 are nice. Take it easy, eh.
Thank you for watching!
Most Canadians don't say 'eh.'
Once this virus thing goes away...and it eventually will and you can go into Canada...you need to go see a Winnipeg Blue Bombers football game at IG Field. It'll be a lot warmer and the atmosphere is great!
You mean the CFL champs from a couple years ago?
I am originally from Winnipeg [ But I live in Calgary] I have never stepped foot inside the MTS Center Strangely I have been inside the Saddledome numerous times I lost count
I want to hit up Calgary and Edmonton sometime. What else would you recommend in Calgary?
Gotta tell everyone after covid if yoh come to Canada try Montreal its the craziest building in the country no lies !!
That’s probably my dream arena to visit in all of the NHL. I grew up a Patrick Roy fan, missed out on the Forum, but have heard the Bell Centre is pretty fantastic.
You pay us a big compliment by saying we are nice. Actually it’s empathy because we share this freezing cold weather together. It helps when we wear our kangaroo.
I felt at home with the weather and the people. Minnesota feels like it can be very Canadian at times.
You've obviously never been to a Habs game at the Bell Centre. You could power a small city with the buzz of the crowd. Of course that is pre-covid days.
That’s my dream. My favorite player was Patrick Roy when I was growing up. I wish I could have seen the Forum, but seeing a home Canadiens game is still on the top of my to-do list.
@@BaseballRoadTripper I have seen a game at the old Montreal Forum as a child. I have subsequently seen games at the Bel Centre and it is absolutely electric. I've have seen a Leafs game in Toronto and it was tame compared to the Habs game in Montreal. Given our current circumstances, I hope you get to experience a game in the Bell Centre.
Love it peeps 😀😃🙂🙃😊
Bro bought in the QMJHL 😂😂
Do you have a playlist of other NHL arenas? I'll have to check out your videos now..
Not yet, but hopefully that will be the next challenge... road tripping to other NHL arenas. Which one should I do next?
@@BaseballRoadTripper Do the Canadians, Oilers. Maybe the Canucks after. Then the Sens?
Go Jets
GO SENS GO!
I gotta make it out to Ottawa to see a game. I’ve never been to the city, so it will be quite the experience.
@@BaseballRoadTripper I had to throw that in once I saw who they lost to! :)
Bro went puckhawking 💀
😂 Guilty.
Should of went to a Calgary vs Edmonton Game, But Great video!
Come again we have a vary good team now 😊
That is the plan. Maybe the 2024-25 season. How about that's the year they take the cup?
Man that singer needs a vocal coach for some power.
Q: can you get St.John Icecaps (Jets AHL affiliate) stuff at the hat trick?
Ice Caps? The Manitoba Moose are the Jets AHL affiliate, and have been for some time now too!
Everybody in Finland - Wants to know if They are selling LAINE JERSEYS -50% !
I bet they are. The sporting goods stores around Winnipeg probably have a huge discount on jerseys.
I remember the Opener at Helsinki - JETS vs PANTHERS ! They run out of LAINE JERSEYS - That How POP He was back Then ! Sasha BARKOV is Good too - and They are both from TAMPERE ! Only Town in Finland to have two FHL Teams !
@@holoholopainen1627 that game must have been ELECTRIC! Being from Minnesota, we’ve recently had to see Mikko not only leave but then retire. We love our Fins here in the northern parts.
@@BaseballRoadTripper When was Your Video Filmed ? There were so many People watching ? Was Pat LAINE still with The JETS ? He was The Front Page News here - after He Moved to USA to play for some Small Market Team !
@@holoholopainen1627 the game was on February 16, 2019. He was definitely still on the team and was a fan favorite there.
Should've gone with ketchup chips.. For the full Canadian experience.
😂 I absolutely hate ketchup, but I did pick up a bag at 7Eleven just to have the experience.
@@BaseballRoadTripper hopefully you washed it down with a Slurpee.. We're the Slurpee capitol of the world eh?
@@celticstephenhill I did. We don’t have any 7Elevens in Minnesota, so I get my fix when I’m on my adventures. Slurpees are the BEST!
Nice seats
Agreed. Some of the best I’ve ever had at a hockey game. ...I miss going to games.
You guys wanna hear a real crowd come to edmonton
Will do! I feel like the only fair way to judge is to go to all of the Canadian NHL arenas.
I am manitoban too, but the true north thing was still stolen so its not that great.
Ya know it's Canada, eh, when at 9:28 you have a girl in front of you, in the good seats, wearing a $2 Princess Auto pompom toque :D Although, the last hockey game I was actually present at was about 10 years ago here in Calgary
CALGARY! Still in my list to visit. Gotta see an Oilers/Flames game sometime.
God, it looks so strange to see all the people packed together inside.......no masks....lol
Seems like ages ago, doesn’t it? Even though this was only in 2019, it feels like a lifetime.
When this flu pandemic is over, you should go to an Oilers game in Edmonton
Yes, please! Gotta see an Oilers/Flames game, right? I've head that rivalry is intense.
i live here and this just got recommended to me
I legitimately love your city. I feel like if I can love it in February, then I might just be able to love it year-round.
@@BaseballRoadTripper thank you and ya it gets pretty cold here but it isn’t as bad as people make the city out to be

i can't believe what i'm seeing. i left that city (of Winnipeg) over 30 years ago - but have returned before...i thought all the white folk had been displaced...like evaporated (quite upsetting btw).
if not for Ice Hockey...there wouldn't be this exclusive pastime that seems biologically-fit for people of Nordic origins...just walk along the Boardwalk in Toronto, during the Winter...you will see what i mean.
I don't know if I'd call the Sens an NHL team
😂
Hell I don't even know if I'd call them an AHL team

Baseball Road Tripper That was my original response, thought it was still too soon though.
@@davidwelch6137 I mean, it's only too soon in the sense that THEY WON A DAMN CUP IN DALLAS! But no, we're fine. We got a funky team name, some boring colors, an odd logo, and albatross contracts that will prevent us from doing anything for 5+ years. Did I mention that we're fine?
