About 80% in line with a spreadsheet I made back in April. I have always wanted to play a support role in WoW for raiding. Support classes need to happen. Instead of making a spec or a class with a certain covenant mandatory or even a class in general, there should just be a class. Say you want to have a raid with multiples of classes, but you need to get your priest buff, mage buff, warrior buff, etc., why not just sub in a bard or other type of support class that can fulfill that and be support, allowing you to double up because your guild has lots of hunters or monks or whatever? Solves the problem of bring the player not the class and still have the buffs that everyone loves.
Great....I was only going to level one class per covenant, but now it looks like I'll be leveling every class. Thanks Tali for the ride on an awesome hype train
dude your highlights of the pro's and con's of covenant abilities for classes are the prime example of why i consider that blizz doesn't know what they're doing xd respect!
Usually watch this on my phone after work, washing dishes, cleaning floors, painting the living room, washing my body... But tonight I watch on my laptop and lo the ability to comment was bestowed. Possibly my one and only opportunity to comment in a busy lifestyle that hasn't wow'd since world 3 raggy in Firelands. Tytytyty, keep going you adorable martha faulkers!
Seeing this makes me go hhononono... ppl are gonna get upset when they're forced into a covenant they don't like cause their ability is bis for something. Blizz better make it easier to change covenant or equalize the abilities power so it doesn't matter and people feel freer.
They all sound cool but I agree I'm a bit worried. Just seems like its a bit of "play ur spec, not ur class" type of thing. If u want to be good at 1 role, ur going to have to nerf urself in the others. Can't see that feeling good for anyone.
Thank you for doing this, I know I've read some of them on Wowhead but putting it all to practise and in context and comparing them helps a great deal.
I'm glad to see this comparison of the abilities from Taliesin - I'm also a fan of Preach's videos and he makes some good points, but the doom and gloom watching his stuff generates kinda wears on me. With Tali though, even the negatives sound like criticisms without being deathknells, which I appreciate a lot.
More ways to stack your numbers so your numbers get bigger so you see bigger numbers when you push the buttons! Where have I seen this before... Also: classy intro. Pilotwings. Nice.
I started looking into the convenants for my enhancement shaman and then started watching some videos. Thanks Tali for confirming what I was thinking about. I think my shaman will go Venthir.
Nice video, I like that you focused on fun and i have to agree with most of your comments. my two person favourite are divine toll and faeline stomp with mind games and kindred spirits being the worst. The most visually disappointing are death chakaram and bonedust brew as they don't have unique spell effects. Also i strongly suspect they will remove the utility ones like you said. This video i got 36 mauve stingers and 40 viper eels. IF you read this i hope you have great week and I'll see you at the next T & E video
Sad part is all of this flies out the window because everyone will have to take the teleport from the Venthyrs because it is just that good and enables shortcuts which everyone will use in M+ dungeons especially.
22:31 Dear Tali Blessing of Seasons only allows one buff at a time. They last 1 minute, but the short 15 sec cd let's you cycle past the "bad" aoe snare one into the dps ones faster if you desire. Thanks Kalrell
I think if you read them all and go "these two sound good and fun" then I'd go straight to xmog and appearance how the zone feels and the story you relate to most. I mean ideally these spells will work great in different aspects and wont handicap you anywhere you are but instead benefit you once you hit a place where they will be great (or how they fit your play style) meaning that ideally about 20-40% of the time these abilities will be super useful which to me seems like feel and athletics and connection to the covenant seem more important. I leveled a warrior and a rouge in Legion cause i love their class hall and I think that is the type of gameplay these things will become because who know what spec is best when and where and if that is what all you care about you are playing the wrong game. Sure the stats and the maths are to min/max dps is fun for a lot of us but the game is story driven and fantasy based and immersive with sounds and songs and voice acting and if you are going to pick the edgelords in the bonezone even though you hate undead things and love the nightforest zone with nightmare Treebeard because of a 3% overall dps increase from simcraft chart you found on Reddit I'd be worried about our potential friendship. Not to mention how unlikely that you will ACTUALLY be able to min/max that 3% out of your toon on every fight or without errors. I think we need to be realistic with our choices and start looking at them as which choice makes us happy and want to play the game instead of feeling obligated to pick another and that is on us as players at this point.
Also easy way for bliz to make the druid random spell channel better is to include talents for your spec in the pool of spells. So balance. Call down your laser. Call down the moon from legion artifact ability. Shoot out a goldrinns spirit (also from artifact). Feral. Do a few brutal slashes. And idk enough about other specs to give recommendations
Ye. Knew the abilities were a bad idea from the start. Still just gonna based on my chars lore and tmog. And if I get discriminated for my choice in raids the more I am right... I guess. Small consolation but I'll wait for others to berate blizz's choice.
From a distance, the idea of having four distinct groups that people of any class or faction can join seems really cool as it allows a level of freedom of choice and mixing that, to my memory, has not been present in WoW before. But looking at the flavor and the abilities of the covenants, I feel that it is going to be really awkward because some aesthetics of covenants go REALLY well with some classes, and some covenant abilities are REALLY stronger than other, and so in making the Big Choice players will often have to sacrifice one over the other. While tough choices in video games can be good, this isn't a choice between two like equal objects (i.e. trying to figure out which talent is better) but instead asking players to lose out on DPS/stats for visuals or vise versa. Blizz can (and should) come back and balance the talents so that the choice between the different covenants is more open, but what they can't do is do a full redesign of the covenant flavors and because of that, if all abilities were equal, I'm sure we would have an overwhelming number of players of the same class go to the same covenant (i.e. Pally to Bastion, Druid to Night Fae). At that point you basically have super class halls. In conclusion, I really wish Blizz had designed the aesthetics of the covenants in a more class neutral way. While some classes have more options, I feel a good handful fit visually/lorewise in one covenants way more than the other three
Small note about the Blessing of the Seasons is that it affects all party members in a radius. So it makes almost even more mandatory for group content.
As a fire mage Radiant Spark will probably be the one I choose. The Bonemage ability sounds nice but most cooldowns are like 2 minutes long and it's just not logical to have Combustion sit there for 1 minute. In a 5 minute fight you could use Combustion only twice. Since this is your main source of your damage it just doesn't sound right. Radiant Spark however can even be popped inbetween Combustion phases meaning you do a bit more damage all around.
Definitely happy that the active abilities for what I want my main characters to be are the best ones (on paper) for the specs I play for each (Venthyr havoc DH, Necrolord SV hunter, Bastion prot pally).
You misunderstood the paladin Season one Tali. Blizz has explicitly stated that you will only have ONE buff up at any given time, and that any buff can not be up for more than 1 minute, but having you able to switch every 15 secs. This makes it less of a maintenance buff (x4), and require more pre-planning (which season would you want at which phase of a boss: In winter now, but need summer in a minute? Better switch to spring soon else it'll be on CD)
I wasn't really on the hate train of covenant abilities not being easy to swap but after watching this I kind of am now. Not because I am worried about BiS options or min maxing, but because alot of these simply seem like fun ways to play. If I pick just 1 covenant I am losing out on an interesting playstyle for an entire expansion. Swapping it up from time to time could keep the game feeling more fresh. I would be ok if they just made it a week long cool down to swap or something and you have to maintain progress on your soul binds independently so that would certainly encourage sticking with 1 until you max it out but doesn't totally lock you into it.
I've already decided on which Covenants my Horde toons will be going into based on the description of the Covenant themselves; Kyrian will get my Pally, Priest, Monk and Warrior; Necrolords get my DK, DH and Mage; Night Fae get Hunter, Druid, Shaman and Venthyr get Warlock and Rogue. then to balance it out, my Alliance toons will all join Covenants based on the transmog so I can collect each armor set from each Covenant
DH are more of a Venthyr or even Night fae choice. Agree on the rest though :) Personally im glad my choice as a monk will be between Kyrian and Night fae.
There is no class i want them to add to this game more the bard so as soon as you mentioned the support abilities being a solid baseline for that id be down here's hoping for the next xpac to add em
Thanks Tali, you just helped me to FINALLY decide the 4 classes im playing in SL. Venthyr Arms Warrior Kyrian Resto Shaman Night Fae Brewmaster Monk Necrolord Mage Or maybe Necro warrior and venthyr lock but im not sure, and prob will not be ever hahaha Love from Brazil
Man I can't even pic a class at all. Got it down to 4ish so far. Lock Monk DK or Rogue. Legit cannot decide yet. this video ishelping a lot though. Nightfae brewmaster looks so cool!
I am pretty much on the same time as Tali for those support abilities. Especially for Warrior it is a "Will you take the double execute, or will you actually be useful for the group?" kinda deal. And that is something that shouldn't really be a thing. I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to go back on the whole "Changing covenants will be something that you won't be doing lightly" to the "Change it whenever you like", like they already suggested, if they can't get them to properly work. But everything is still alpha, so let's see, where we will end up.
One thing to mention about the Shaman Maldraxxus ability on Enhancement is that if you use Stormkeeper, the empowered Lightning Bolts actually does more damage than Lava Bursts. The downside is that it needs a bunch more set-up and doesn't flow as well, because there's no way to make it instant cast.
I think my Druid is fine going to Maldraxus. Besides being a restoration druid; it's a troll druid. And I even have a transmog set named "Druid of the locust" with the living wood spaulders. It's like he was made for this.
You just told me the one thing I don't want but had suspected when I first read the druid abilities: To do my best dps as a boomkin main in raids I have to join the Venthyr, when really I want my chicken to hug every swolekin I can find. One of the most fun parts of WoW for me is the ability to experience the story, and the ability to pick which stories I want to experience on each toon. The idea of playing more than 4 toons this expansion just so my main can be optimized for raiding doesn't sound fun.
Tbh I don't plan on being a hard-core raider like how I was in legion and haven't took pvp seriously since mop so I'm probably just going to pick which ever covenant that I think is cool

I really appreciate you doing this but timestamps to each section were already in the description when the vid went live :)
@@TaliesinEvitel Apologies. I didn't see it.
Paladin's Blessing of the Seasons sounds like something that should be part of a Balance Druid I'mma be honest.
I see it more of being a support thing, so restro druid if anything.
dude your content is actually amazing thank you for uploading
I’m choosing my covenants based on what fits my class’s lore and fantasy, so not too worried about which is the absolute most powerful ability... 😁👍
“Job for a bitey bois”
*Me in Capt. America getup* : “I understood that reference.”
dude your highlights of the pro's and con's of covenant abilities for classes are the prime example of why i consider that blizz doesn't know what they're doing xd respect!
Masterpiece, can confirm. Yeah I replied to my own comment, come hug me bro!
I have a great feeling about SL, not gonna lie. This really adds a new feeling to all specs.
One thing I want from DH Hunt ability that your character will scream ''FEEL THE HATRED OF 10000 YEAR''
And we need the HOTS flying crash tackle animation too instead of this weird “dash” they have now
And if the target teleports while you are inflight you should completely bug out and fly into oblivion for the real hots feeling
I hope it makes that fantastic impact sound as well.
It would be hilarious and i will laugh each time i hear it,BUTT lore wise only ilidan was a dh 10000 years ago...not you the player...you are recent
Actually you the player were locked up 1k years too.
playing a resto druid and not going night fae would break my heart :/
Seeing this makes me go hhononono... ppl are gonna get upset when they're forced into a covenant they don't like cause their ability is bis for something.
Blizz better make it easier to change covenant or equalize the abilities power so it doesn't matter and people feel freer.
They've said (more or less) that changing is fairly easy. Going BACK to one you left is what is going to be hard (supposedly).
They all sound cool but I agree I'm a bit worried. Just seems like its a bit of "play ur spec, not ur class" type of thing. If u want to be good at 1 role, ur going to have to nerf urself in the others. Can't see that feeling good for anyone.
8:23 Sure enough, this was a cool enough idea that this is actually how it ended up working!
Great video - thank you so much for comparing all of the different abilities!
looks like my plan of maining BM hunter in Ardenweald holds up :D thanks for the breakdown Tali!
Necrolord Death Knight for 100%, yoink all enemys around with that additional limb will be a really hilarious
Well venthyr for me TBH. Being able to move with it and equivalent efficiency to the necrolord one.
Thank you for doing this, I know I've read some of them on Wowhead but putting it all to practise and in context and comparing them helps a great deal.
i love support style gameplay. its why i heal in the first place, but i understand why others may not want those abilities. Bard Class, where you at!
"I've got literally nothing else to do right now."
/Ani screeches in affronted outrage in the background
I'm glad to see this comparison of the abilities from Taliesin - I'm also a fan of Preach's videos and he makes some good points, but the doom and gloom watching his stuff generates kinda wears on me. With Tali though, even the negatives sound like criticisms without being deathknells, which I appreciate a lot.
It helped me decide (for now). My monk joins nightfae, my shaman joins kyrian.
More ways to stack your numbers so your numbers get bigger so you see bigger numbers when you push the buttons!
Where have I seen this before...
Also: classy intro. Pilotwings. Nice.
I love when Tali makes a classic music reference. Today's edition was Pink Floyd.
HI yes I love Pink Floyd as well. : )
Thank you for doing a video on covenant abilities that doesn't just call people trolls for choosing certain ones they like.
Your videos are so entertaining, funny and informative; thank you very much.
Man awesome video tho, I have been reading up on the abilities but seeing it visually is just so much better :D
The jokes during the shaman section made my day Talie. Thank you.
Sad part is all of this flies out the window because everyone will have to take the teleport from the Venthyrs because it is just that good and enables shortcuts which everyone will use in M+ dungeons especially.
2:03
woah she-ra, that awakened some serious nostalgia
Good to see that I'm not gimping myself going Nightfae with my Monk.
22:31 Dear Tali Blessing of Seasons only allows one buff at a time. They last 1 minute, but the short 15 sec cd let's you cycle past the "bad" aoe snare one into the dps ones faster if you desire. Thanks Kalrell
"glitter tweens" registered as "glitter twinks" and hearing tali say that was an experience
Same lol
Tali is a glitter twink confirmed.
Well that too.
I actually have been a death knight main since Wrath and want to join the Night Fae.....I love night elves and nature ok?
Bard class? Well... I don`t know.... that seems... AMAZING
Ardenweald has some Ori & the blind forest vibes going on for sure.
FINALLY TALI IS REPPING BARD! I love you man!
I hope Blizz keeps these behind which covenant you pick, let us make a choice and have that choice matter.
As a Windwalker Monk main the Night Fae ability sounds COMPLETELY AWESOME!!!
love the quick red dwarf photo
God, something about Tali's cheery personality makes a 40 minute video feel like 2 minutes!
Ye. Knew the abilities were a bad idea from the start. Still just gonna based on my chars lore and tmog. And if I get discriminated for my choice in raids the more I am right... I guess. Small consolation but I'll wait for others to berate blizz's choice.
The Faux & Friends line killed me hahaa
Favoring your form is brilliant!
That bard suggestion in the end was amazing, not sure how it can convert to WoW playerbase though. And jesus.... WARRIOR LOOKS INSANE!
Watching this in April 2021 makes it all the better.
Ok I was really impressed by that Scouring tithe animations. And the pew pew shiny moment was the best! The greatest Scouring tithe I've ever seen!
tbh, for warrior I prefer the Night Fae, it lines up perfectly with all your cooldowns and scales with those
I would just like to say that my vampire dudes could give me an Elekk Plushie and I still wouldn't care ! Enjoyed the video, well done you!
Tuskars of the Black Empire. Pre-ordering now!
Bard class comfirmend, no seriously your ideas are rly great and i hope Blizz listen to you^^
As a fire mage Radiant Spark will probably be the one I choose.
Yo, Frost DK with Abomination Limb and Warrior with Banner is gonna be a crazy setup in arenas
Such a lovely speaking voice, could listen to it all day :)
I love The Bard idea totally want to play a vulpera bard
There is no class i want them to add to this game more the bard so as soon as you mentioned the support abilities being a solid baseline for that id be down here's hoping for the next xpac to add em
I've watched this video so many times, partially for the fun info about the coming abilities, but mostly for Taliesin's commentary lol
That warrior execute skill will be awesome.
I'm so happy with the Maldraxxus ability for warriors.
Thanks Tali, you just helped me to FINALLY decide the 4 classes im playing in SL.
Venthyr Arms Warrior
Kyrian Resto Shaman
Night Fae Brewmaster Monk
Necrolord Mage
Or maybe Necro warrior and venthyr lock but im not sure, and prob will not be ever hahaha
Love from Brazil
Thanks! I'm excited for WoW again.
I LOve love love your videos. Thanks for making my online life a better place.
M+ 15 - Nightfae Paladin only
