It is cruel, but... The traditions and rules of dynasty forbid this. And I think Hurrem has understanding for Mihmimah, she explained the situation to her. If you remember Valide's reaction on Hatice's love for Ibrahim, I think Hurrem was still understanding, she just tried to protect her daughter from any scandal or shame.

I look through the comments and the amount of people who seem to watch the series and still don't understand how much Mihimimah risked by allowing anything between her and this guy is surprising.
She can't date or marry just any other guy, she's not in the same situation as Hurrem, and btw, Hurrem was a possession of Suleiman, a slave, so the fact they fell in love was pure luck. Hurrem is not a hypocrite or narcissistic because she protects her daughter, even if as result she destroys Mihmimah' s first love.
I don't get how people forget that the world centuries ago wasn't so liberal, free and progressive as now, especially for royals bound by not only laws, traditions and expectations of their people, but also the need to protect their honor and face in order to survive/ not lose their status.

Still it’s sad, and sometimes horrific, to see how half the human race was mistreated by men throughout history. And I think it’s ok for females in this century to express their outrage, even if they realize there were “rules snd traditions” set up by men to control and even demoralize and abuse females both emotionally and physically in the past.
And while I’m on that note…it is uncanny to watch how they are so polite to each other, or at least they pretend to be, in order to follow all these rules. But they really have no occupation, no passionate education that they can use to further their careers and help mankind and to save money for their families or retirement. They are simply breeders…like cattle…with nice skin and hair. They are expected to raise their children, especially the male children, to possibly be a sultan someday. Yet, they know that the day is coming when rival male children will be brutally killed simply because of rules and traditions. Imagine living with that horror day by day and the emotional pain involved. But the sultan pats them on the arm and says with a smile, “Don’t think about it…go back to your room.”
      Unreal.

I can understand why hurrem reacted the way she did…. Pleas keep in mind I’m just sharing my opinion: first of all Mihrimah is really young ( I’m not sure how old but definitely not more than 20 ) and like any other girl she only had a crush on him ( like Balibay) she might have thought that she is in love but it’s only a feeling that would go away …. And as Hurrem said she would be the one who would be hurt….
Second even with Hatice and Ibrahim they’re relationship didn’t work out because of the class differences .. back then I can imagine that the class difference played a huge roll ( although now days nothing has changed ) a princess and only a soldier would work out long … and mihrimah would only waste herself with him when she has better suiters ..

Not just in that country, even here in England the monarchy had strict rules too, they still do, Princess Margaret (Queen Elizabeth's Sister) wasn't allowed to marry the group captain Peter Townsend she had fallen in love with, I think he was much older than her and a divorced man, despite them both being in love she was only 22 and the Church of England didn't deem for it to be suitable and refused to countenance marriage to a divorced man, Princess Margaret eventually was forced to abandon her love with Peter and married the photographer Antony Armstrong Jones, basically what I'm trying to say is every country has its rules and reputation that they keep to have control over their people and at the same time uphold their honour and status. Its totally normal and even though it seems harsh and cruel but that's the royalty life, its not easy at all 😐

Actually it resembles Urdu coz turkish and urdu have similar arabic roots.. and hindi and urdu are similar that's why it seems to resemble hindi but the actual words which resemble hindi are those words that are in urdu but used in India too...

You don't seem to get it. First and foremost, he works for Mustafa, who Hurrem sees as an enemy, so that's enough of a red flag as it is. Simply because she has no idea where his true loyalty lies, and she doesn't want her daughter getting caught in the middle of what is essentially their version of Game of Thrones.
Second, it's easy to make a promise like that to your daughter when she's young. But as a princess, Mihrimah doesn't have the luxury of marrying whoever she wants. She has to marry whoever her parents deem the most worthy, even if she doesn't like him. Remember how much trouble Hatice and Ibrahim were in when their relationship was exposed? Hurrem does, and she wouldn't want her daughter to go through that. Her actions may seem cruel, but she's just trying to protect her daughter.
