  • Sited on a former R.A.F. airfield and sadly the burial site of just under half a million sheep due to the 2001 foot and mouth disease outbreak.

    Another fabulous, relaxing video, thanks for sharing. Done a few myself around disused old airfields, fascinating places.

    I remember one of the F&M outbreaks visiting Longtown. The smell of burning carcasses was harrowing. Great flight though mate and the map inclusion added to the piece. 👍

    That's a fair amount of sheep, it just shows the impact it had on local economies

      There were 448,508 sheep, 12,085 cattle and 5,719 pigs. They are buried in the 26 trenches in the centre. They were buried in six weeks.
