I never thought any vocalists could come close to matching the performance of Leon Thomas on this Pharoah Sanders classic but the talent of these three vocalists is sublime. The instrumentalists are also superb. While Leon was more spiritual, there's a breeziness and free wheeling quality to this rendition that leaves me breathless. I will be returning to this video frequently.
The Noble Ancestor Pharoah would love sound innovation with the piano as well all the beautiful expressions from all the artists contributing to this expression
First heard this with the legendary Leon Thomas (with Oliver Nelson and Pharaoh Sanders from the album Leon Thomas Live in Berlin...an AMAZING album). Have listened to that song MANY, MANY, MANY times over the past 50 years. This version is truly WONDERFUL. Both versions bring serenity.
The entire knew the vibe and made a unified shared statement. Everyone was locked in the shared experience. Zero showing off. Pure statement. Pure story. My cousin Joe Bonner played with Pharaoh
"It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good." The best thing that the COVID blast has brought us is Emmet Cohen and his sessions with his prodigiously talented friends. Anthony Hervey is sensational!
Magnifique interprétation de cet extrait de KARMA du génial PHAROHAH SANDERS ici reprise avec talent . J'ai adoré SANDERS et j'adore votre interprétation merveilleuse . NORBERT .
@@Banzo_ I see the praise in the way each performer gives of his or her best to selflessly serve the music and perform the tune in such a way as to make us want to praise the God who gave us the ability to create masterpieces like this.
I love this comment! And as one who does believe, I am more convinced that we create because we are made in the image of the Creator. This performance was sublime and divine!
This remake is outstanding. The vocalists having fun with each other and everyone being so free takes the performance to another level
Special shout to that incredible pianist and trumpet player

Good bass solo!
Hey Emmet, ever heard of Hope by Don Cherry? I think y'all would have a blast playing it and it seems extremely complex and layered.
What, no yodeling?!
I don't see the big praise in the singers. The instruments are super cool tho.
