    It's beautiful! If you're pressed for space the apples, oranges and onions don't need to be refrigerated.

    Thanks for sharing! Here are some tips I’ve learned along the way:
    Strawberries aren’t recommended to be cleaned until ready to eat because they rot quicker BUT I like them on the ready so I’ve learned to soak them for an hour in very cold water, rinse and dry them and layer them I n single layers in a fairly airtight bin with paper towels between each layer. This keeps my strawberries fresh for days, even a couple weeks.
    Onions should never be refrigerated. They should be stored in a cool dry place for freshness, longevity and quality.
    Leftover green salad can be stored in a ziplock bad with paper towels lining the outside (to collect moisture). Change paper towels out daily for Uber fresh salad days later.

    • @robyndismon394
      @robyndismon394 2 года назад +2

      When greens are freshly washed they can be zapped in the spinner to remove all excess moisture, then stored in a large plastic bin
      My salad greens last for 9 days or more by using this process (without) paper towels.

    • @scrumps101
      @scrumps101 2 года назад +1

      @@robyndismon394 I love that! I don’t usually pre wash my lettuce before making salad but this sounds like a viable way and I’m definitely going to have to give it a try. Using paper towels in out green salad storage is a must for us because I use cucumber and tomatoes and the paper towels keep the moisture from browning the lettuce. Thanks so much!

    What works great for me for the fresh herbs is I put them in a glass jar and fill water quarter of the way and then put a gallon size bag over then and zip it at the bottom just to the bottom of the jar. It works great keeping them fresh!

  • @771994brittany

    For the herbs, I store them like that and then put a plastic produce bag over them, kind of like a greenhouse effect and it really works. Good luck!

    Top the herb jars with an upside down bag (I have successfully used Ziploc and reusable Stasher styles) and change the water every few days. I only put about an inch or two of water. Fresh herbs typically keep 10-14 days this way!

    We must have the same refrigerator, I just watched your freezer organizing video and our freezers are same. Yes, it’s definitely a smaller refrigerator than I’m use to, so it’s hard to organize. I like how you moved the shelves around to make the middle shelf taller. I’m going to try this. Love the little dividers for the drawer.
    How I keep my herbs fresh is by growing them in pots on my back patio. It doesn’t get fresher than that and saves a ton of money. 😉

I also get my eggs from a friend who has chickens and there are plastic stackable bins which hold 18 eggs each and have lids- love those! How have those produce keepers worked for you? I've been using Rubbermaid's freshworks line and I have certainly noticed a difference! Curious about the ones you used, because they're much cuter 😅
    For fresh herbs--if you get some that are sad, I usually trim the ends about 1/2" or more depending on how tall your jars are (like you would for flowers), and then soak them in my salad spinner filled with cold water until they perk up like new! Then I'll spin them dry and keep them in mason jars filled with water and a plastic bag loosely covering them like a tent. Lasts for weeks!
