In 2020, Amy Lee and Evanescence is still going and still successful. shame we've had to say goodbye to Will ( who left on good terms ), John and Rocky ( John was fired and Rocky quit but Amy had a good reason ), and now Terry ( who also left on good terms and had returned to his old band for a time. him and Amy are still good friends ). I like the new band members that are with Amy now, they seem stronger as a band and Amy, though will miss Terry, she's very happy with the current line-up and I think this one is going to stick. the band is still going strong and recently have been releasing songs for their upcoming 4th studio rock album, 'The Bitter Truth'. ( and have had great success with the other 3 albums; Fallen, The Open Door, and Evanescence Self-titled. plus the bonus album of 'Synthesis'. )
also I love that they got to interview Amy's dad for this as well. I bet he's very proud of his daughter and now is a happy grandpa. ( just a little update to people who haven't followed Evanescence after 'Fallen' or 'The Open Door'. )

Poor Terry isnt even playing with Cold anymore and do worry he had another stroke but didn’t publicise it but yes you can tell they are still friendly as he still retweets Evanescence stuff on the few times he used twitter per year 🤣
Rocky just seems to follow wherever John goes which is a shame tbh, I do wonder why John was fired, nothing has ever been released as to why he was, I reckon he did something fairly bad tbh!

There is no the band. Amy got rid of everybody in the band. The open door actually did very poorly considering it was the follow up album to Fallen which is one of the biggest sellers ever. The albums after the open door barely sold at all. When Amy and Ben made music together it was magic. Amy had some good songs without Ben, but it was never the same.

Bud Morgan and his wife used to be friends with Amy. They gave me a CD with all the bands earliest tracks. I didn't think of it until I seen this video. I know I still have it in my CD collection. I think I got this CD 8 or 9 years ago, from Bud Morgan.

at the time they had issues, he kinda abandoned the Project 3 months before going big with Fallen, he wanted to do more Christian music... that could be the reason besides that...when this documentary went out they still had the problem with the chrstian music stores selling Fallen so it wasn't good to mention that side I guess. He did contributions with them but only on Origin and 2001-2 songs. Amy and Ben did alone the first 2 EP's of the band and Origin already had 4 songs written in the past by them. He basically did the strings and keyboards while Amy did the piano parts with lyrics and Ben the guitars and some lyrics too.

Anyways, I am more of an Amy fan and been since 2003. Ben is a great commercial artist and a genius but commercially oriented. Amy just like her dad said didn't care for the money and more for the art which I like.

Nice documentary but it misses some serious things. First of all Ben Moody never intended to leave Evanescence and use his fame to go for other projects. He wrote an open letter and it reveals as to why he left and how difficult it was for him to leave Evanescence.
Secondly, how could this documentary miss out on David Hodges who was a writing partner with Lee and Moody as well and a part of the band? He left when the recording of Fallen was finished.

    • @osamus1796
      @osamus1796 Год назад +1

David was actually kicked out of the band. Dave Fortman (Evanescence producer at the time) said they kicked him out because he was pushing the Christian aspect way too much to the point where he wanted to start each Evanescence show with prayers to Jesus which obviously didn't jive well with Amy and Ben.

Ben ain't gonna do shit without that band , in the world of music and musicians it's almost impossible to make it period and it does not matter if ben is a good orchestrator and why in the hell is the word orchestrator being used ? There is no orchestra or ochestrating in hard rock or rock n roll business . They should of stopped and really took a long hard look at what they had as a group and what got them to where they were at instead of letting it fall apart . They had good chemistry and good chemistry is what it takes and is very rare . If you have a certain special type of chemistry in a band or formula if you will and you take one of the elements out of that formulated chemistry it is gonna fuck everything up and it will not be the same . This is true in 99 percent of bands breaking up . Yes I think Amy will be fine , ben I don't know about . Question is will he be able to find the right core of musicians and front person to sing and number 1 most important thing is writing great songs too . Like I said it is pretty much impossible to make it in the music industry and have any success at all one time but to go do it a second time is even more impossible . their are not that many famous musicians out there that have accomplished that at all . There are some but not that many at all unless your a jack of all instruments and a epic anthem gracious melody music makin man like Dave Grohl for example , he is a genius musician who definitely could go on his own into a studio and play every instrument , write all the songs and they would be definite hits plus do all the mixing and recording and producing without a band and just put his music out for sale or hire a bass player another guitarist and drummer while he plays guitar and writes all the songs that are hit after hit and sings them too and you don't call that orchestrating you call that composing and a lot more then just that . I can tell you this for sure , Ben does not have any mojo like Dave Grohl does , lol actually no one in the music business is even close to being on Dave Grohls level and thats fact .

I'm honestly very proud of Amy and the current band! Amy never gave up and she seems happier than back when Ben was in the band. Her happiness is what really matters. I love their new music tbh...its art!

45:26 I thought daredevil was a good movie, although, in a recent review that I did for one of my classes, I realize the stereotypes against the truth, people with visual impairment, or Blindness. As a person who is blind myself, for 35 years… My whole life, I realized that some of the daredevil stuff was not right. It was a good movie, though, regardless of the stereotypes that were bad.

Kids let me tell you, having been a paid side man with several acts out of Nashville,L.A.and so on..Being a Musician and a rock star are NOT THE SAME...There are plenty of people who are famous with no skills..When you are touring, even palying sheds, outdoor venues, the time you get to play is the smallest minute part of it all..Being on the bus,in your room, eating and not even knowing what the day is or what city you're in is common...And very exhausting..This business of music has little to do with the good of it all,and can and probably will turn friends into enemies..Split up relationships, families. And someone is making money off all this misery you are going through...

So much talk of money at the end...wonder who has made more? Does it matter? Amy Lee is Evanescence and people know her name and still listen to her new stuff. With other projects between albums and scoring for a movie (or movies, only one is on Spotify). Amazing
And Ben Moody, he might still work with pop stars but what boring music. I hate that type of music. And to this day my friends make "he was bein' too moody" jokes.
What is wealth worth, when fans know who you are and remember you fondly. Which I think Evanescence always wanted.

but Ben didn't wrote as much lyrics at Amy, and his guitar progression was poor as fuck, he overuses still to this date Em C and D... most of his songs in or withour Ev has that, diff effects on the guitar makes it sound different but he isn't truly creative with guitar, he sure did good solos but again he didn't show so much of it. TOD and EV2011 has so much better riffs and progression of chords, more mature and darker lyrics sometimes or empowering so... yeah it doesn't sound like before bc Ben knew how to sell the same thing over and over and make it sound "different" but Amy has never donde the same thing twice, and I prefer her style over his.

55:32, how rude discredited Amy completely and only acknowledged the guys when she in fact wrote all the lyrics and melodies for Fallen
    ....
57:33, This lady has no idea what she's talking about. Amy is a songwriter as well and clearly nowadays she's the relevant one lol. Evanescence is still making albums and selling out tours. Ben is a decent songwriter but so is Amy. Stop discrediting her creativity.

Ben Moody and Amy Lee really had something good going here. Too bad they split up and the band died. The remaining band wasn't very good, and the following album ("The Open Door") wasn't anywhere near as good as "Fallen".

I personally like The Open Door more. its very heavy, and weird. Putting it in simple terms, Fallen is like their "Nirvana Nevermind" album, while The Open Door is like their "in Utero" album. the self titled album was my least favorite, only liked 3 songs.
