I've never thought that I will be working as a part-time Spanish teacher. After returning back to my hometown I couldn´t continue to learn Korean and I found self-study I little bit hard at the time. Then casually met in the street a Korean girl in my hometown selling kimbap with a flag of Korea. I was like oh kimbap qué genial, quiero comer. I came across and then ask how much. She speaks Spanish really well. She was like this is kimbap not sushi (because Mexicans don't know well Asian cousin ) and I was like. I know its kimbap. Normally I would speak to someone that I don't know but I just wanted to practice Korean. Then late eating with her, I met the owner of the Korean hostel in my hometown and she introduced me to my first Spanish student. I needed to learn again my own language in order to teach them properly. I think I want to keep doing because every class it's a cultural exchange and a new experience to learn something from a person with a different culture.

It's true. Languages really changed my life in all aspects. Especially in my upcoming legal career once I pass my bar exams, I really need to learn more languages aside from learning new culture and meeting other people around the world. Starting with French for my future practice in international law. I also resumed studying Spanish because I have a lot of friends from Spain who are also members of a religious organization in which I am affiliated. I'm looking forward to visit Korea in the near future once this pandemic is over. Salut. Greetings of love from the Philippines.

I Live in Brazil and I got my first job because I already had studied English and I was searching for a new course and new language. When I was in the website of a language school, there was a opportunity to work there and thanks God I got one of the vacancies. Now I work there and I still can study some of the languages they have. To know English always made me a step in front my colegues since school. Here in Brazil few people know how to speak properly a second language. Trying French now. 😍

Learning languages opens you to so many opportunities and conversations. It will open you up to meeting so many new people. Even if it's just for a conversation, you probably made that persons day by speaking to them in their language. I get a lot of smiles and gotten excited responses with people when I speak French or Chinese with them. Also being able to speak a second language will make you stand out against competition when applying for a job. In fact many jobs will even give you bilingual pay. So if you are thinking about doing it, start as soon as possible!

Very happy to know about how languages changed your life. Even it's happening with me too, not on that higher level like career as I am a student just in 8th. Being an Indian I came across the lingual diversity here and started to learn an Indian language called Marathi mainly spoken in the state of Maharashtra. Now I am at the B1 level and am able to talk to my Marathi friends. Also if you can then please have a video trying Tamil an Indian language that is said to be more relating to Korean.

And well, I'm not really what you call a disciplined student or something like that, I'm actually pretty lazy and tend to procrastinate a lot. However, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to learn more than 4 or 5 languages because it is a dream of mine after all. I love languages as well as getting to know about different cultures and their traditions, so I'm hoping I can improve my skills and weaknesses in every aspect. Also, sorry if this is too long 😅, I've been more or less learning Korean in the same way I learnt English (by watching series, movies, and listening to music) because it's more of a hobby than a goal, at least for now. Besides, my priorities are learning French first, then German and then everything else.

I speak French at only A2, maybe A1 on a good day, but working in the tourism sector in the US, with some politicians and people being openly stubborn for speaking 'American', the French visitors were very apprciative of an American at least trying to give them directions for places to go in French. Their smiles help my studies.

as a native english speaker, i feel a bit ashamed that i can't speak any other languages but i struggle to decide which language to focus on first as no other language is quite as ubiquitous as english, do you have any suggestions?
i am debating between french and german due to their similarities to english and my interest in the cultures but i really don't feel motivated to gain proficiency in any of these languages which i think is the key (and from my perspective, i think asian languages are probably way too difficult to learn as a first '2nd language' from an english-speaking background)

I’m currently learning my third and fourth languages.... and the problem that I face is “the fear of making mistakes in front of the natives”. The thing is, sometimes I’m not sure with my language proficiency level (I don’t have enough guts to take the test because I’m afraid of getting disappointed :( ) but because I’ve been studying them for 5-6 years, I always put that I can speak “basic conversational level” of those languages whenever I was asked to describe my special skills in college 😅. And yes, it helps me a lot in my career, because I got lots of chances thanks to that.... BUT I became timid when I start speaking with native, because they think that I can speak fluently while the truth is.... I CAN’T 🤣 (and I ended up losing confidence and almost speak nothing lol) So I want to ask you, have you ever experienced such things? How did you deal with them? 🙈💕

" to someone is a big help. and i think they would be happy if they hear that from a foreigner.

That's true when it comes to career. I get to have a lot of career opportunities because companies usually are having a hard time hiring a competent bilingual speaker.
I am so lucky because here in the Philippines, companies are not into gender salary gap. I can demand for a higher salary on the job offer, no matter what my age and gender but because of my extensive experience of using a foreign language at work. And I even got a higher salary than my guy officemate.

    • @mylangs
      @mylangs  4 года назад +2

*즉, '여러 개의 요리' 의미로 dish 단어를 쓰실 때에, many dishes, these dishes 쓰시면 됩니다!! 😉

I was studying to be an engineer, but after I decided to study english to go abroad (I was 18, when I started to learn langs), and after I have studied in differents countries of Europe (it, es, fr, ru) including my master degree. In the end I decided to dedicate my life to international career related to languages. I can 7 languages, russian (mother tongue, kazakh (2 lang of my country), italian (c1), spanish (b2), english (b2), french (b1-b2), portugues (a2) and I dedicate a lot of time to languages and can say that my life has changed completely thanks to languages. maybe will start to learn a new language. will see )))

Knowing Spanish helped me a lot in Honduras since it is a bit of a dangerous country. It was better that I spoke Spanish instead of English. Without Spanish I would stand out, and people would probably try and take advantage of me. Not to mention I was staying in a shady part of Tegucigalpa, so not speaking English was kind of a requirement.

Well I used to hate learning languages even my own which is arabic mind you the Arabic we speak is different than the one we write or read in books and the news....etc .I was bad at understanding the grammars and my teacher always will tell us you are very bad students you are so noisy when I was in 4th-5th and 6th grade I had her for three years which made me hate the language alot and English was hard for me back then I found “because” to be a very hard word to write and use that was my level😂😂😂I would always tell mom (why should I study English when I can’t study Arabic my language well) later on I had to learn french for 4years and it was way way worse cause it was a new subject in government school’s system they brought a higher level books for someone who never heard french in his life it was a total nightmare but I improved alot in English thanks to french cause english has easier grammers than arabic or french although I hated french to the core 😂😂 But Being able to write read communicate in two languages made it easier to to do many stuff and look at the world and what is happening (tbh I learned how to be more careful of people and in life generally,I felt like The country I live in and the people I met were all good people I should be thankful for being born and living here ) ,also when I had to take the university exam I passed the orientation course cause I didn’t need it and I could survive with my English level although switching your studies from Arabic to English was kind of hard to keep up with because not only are you experiencing university style education you are also studying in your second language that you rarely use 🙂💔 I would never say I am fluent in English cause I never studied it seriously 😂😂
but I found that I can learn languages from listening or watching videos thats how I could understand a bit of korean cause I watched lots of korean shows and some dramas two years ago I still watch sometimes here and there. I am thinking of learning the language because it will help me in researching case studies and other stuff since I am majoring in architecture there are many fun buildings in korea but at the same time its hard to take the step to start learning the language 🙂💔. You inspire me but at the same time I am still contemplating 😅.
