The scene at the end is one of my favorites, where Aqua's all like "when did the Destiny Islands fall to darkness?", thinking there's no way she could escape, then Riku hits her with a ton of bricks. The way her face just lights up and the tears start rolling down, unreal. Especially if you've been following the series and you know what she's been through.
Everyone's talking about how happy they are that Aqua was saved or that they're mad Sora did it. I'm just over here wondering why they bothered getting rid of Riku's Way to Dawn for some giant car key. It doesn't affect the plot at all.
You know; even though Ansem (SoD) was the one who tainted Aqua with his darkness, I can't help but feel that Aqua's harsh words and bitterness to Mickey here are completely her own. In A Fragmentary Passage, it's hammered home again and again that the Realm of Darkness was getting to Aqua, and that darkness had found its way into the cracks of her heart. After being trapped in the RoD for over 10 years with absolutely no one and with Mickey just leaving her there (I know it's basically a necessary plot hole, but seriously) Aqua's bitterness and loneliness feel completely genuine - certainly not something that can be completely attributed to Ansem (SoD). I suspect that he moreso just brought out Aqua's actual darkness rather than outright posses her with his own (As she's still "herself"), which just makes this feel all the more tragic.
Yeah, yeah, right. Now, you should consider how hopeful she was when Ansem SoD arrived and took Ansem the Wise by force. That scene happened literally HOURS before this. It's not like Aqua lost hope years ago. Those words might be what Aqua was feeling in her heart, but that's just darkness' influence overall.
"My name is Thea Queen, I mean Aqua. For over a decade I was trapped in the Realm of Darkness. Now I am back with only one goal: to save the Realm of Light. But to do that, I need to become someone else. I must become... something else. I am Master Aqua" "Previously, on Kingdom Hearts"
I know how it feels, to be surrounded by loneliness with fake friends and people you can’t reach out to. It’s a hellish world honestly, but you have to fight on your own because no one will save you
I know Aqua sadness and guilt for Mickey who said it was his fault for not being there but come on seriously she got struck by Xehanort at the beach trying to proct Ansem the wise and that’s how she got cursed in the first place. sora interferes with her while Riku saves the king as if to say I fell in the darkness at the time you think that was my fault I was not here to save you Riku had to help me, you let that old man get to you you should have been stronger to defend yourself. I’m gonna take you down and bring the true aqua back even if I have to strike you down with light you hear me. How dare you sora says aqua in her dark form you think I was the weak fool Your the traitor I’m gonna bring that light out of you real good and master xehanort will be proud of me and you will join us as a dark vessel. @@Quenmanp There's a difference between being the main character and having the entire universe revolve around you. And the latter is how the games treat Sora.
tbh how they played everything out before the fight, it would've made more sense for Riku to have fought her, or if he'd at least been a party member in that fight. Yes we knew Sora was gonna fight her/save her, but the scenes beforehand kinda made more sense for Riku to fight her. The development was all there for Riku who went through same thing
The whole you're home scene should have had aqua say "not yet though" with her holding her wayfinder and flashbacking to the other two at the land of departure
*dark aqua shows up* Hi I'm aqua and your probably wondering how I've got myself into this situation. well it all started 11years ago in the land of departure.
"Left me in this shadow prison for more than a decade" That's not true. Mickey just found out like one and half years ago. Darkness was influencing Aqua's words more than expected.
What really pisses me off is that Sora basically does EVERYTHING in Kingdom hearts. None of the other characters succeed without his assistance and it defientely ticks one of the boxes that makes him a Gary sue. There's no point in sugar coating it the way Sora's written in KH3 is really aggravating.
After such a transformative journey and character development I thought the depiction of Riku finally coming to terms with his past in the darkness was so fucking cool as well as heavy
So in the end, she just needed to vent a little. Sure she tried to kill Sora, Riku, and Mickey, but still; a little venting (usually)never hurt anyone.
Easily the best scene in KH3. Aqua is so beaten down through years of darkness that she doesn’t even realize that she isn’t in the Realm of Darkness anymore. And it’s Rikku, the one all too familiar with darkness, who gets to tell her “You’re in the Realm of Light.” Then Sora, just as Kairi told him and Rikku at the end of KH2, gets to tell Aqua, “You’re home.” After a decade in darkness, Aqua, you’re home. This scene kills me every time.
Nah..should have just had riku save aqua. No reason to have demon tide again for riku Sora literally no reason . He doesn’t have a emotional connection. Granted neither does riku but he takes it more seriously than sora ever did.
And Sora met Aqua on the Destiny Islands when he was a little boy. She asked Sora to protect Riku because she knew Riku would eventually walk the path of darkness, just like Terra.
It's cuz Sora solves literally every problem in the game already so him stealing Riku's thunder last second and doing the only job he had in the whole game for him just rubbed people the wrong way. Stuff like this happens more than once in the story too where all of the supporting cast gets treated like trash while Sora fixes everything. It's DBZ levels of writing where all the Z fighters get their asses kicked while waiting for Goku to swoop in last minute and save them. Seriously, name one character other than Sora who actually did jack shit in the story and I mean something that actually mattered too. Yen Sid and Lingering Will don't count since blocking a couple heartless for a few minutes and fighting Terranort for 2 seconds before vanishing doesn't count for much seeing as Sora kicks Terranort's ass later and he defeated a full blown army of Heartless before Yen Sid showed up. Nomura basically made the entire supporting cast worthless and you can't blame people for feeling like their favorite characters were done dirty when the story repeatedly has them appear helpless without Sora.
Don’t speak for every person like you know what they want. I’m glad she’s saved regardless but don’t act like everyone is gonna be happy about the way it happened. People are like that
