I'd much rather "pick" my calls, then what I used to do. While driving to my morning spot, I would take out the calls I was planning on using and one at a time, blow them as loud as I can, to loosen the reeds. It did work, however, my calls were blown out in no time, not to mention making my hunting partner deaf. lol!
Can you use any other material other than latex for your reeds? I'm allergic to latex, so I won't be able to use diaphragms unless another material can be used.
I have trouble on the bottom and the middle reeds sticking. Do you think it wouldn’t hurt it, if I pick them as well? Thanks Scott love your signature call the one you’re using in this video it’s brought me a lot of success!!!
What about the other reeds and seperating em.
I only ever pick the top reed.
A good business man wouldn’t give out tips to prolong call life. Thanks for being an honest one!
10-4! I appreciate it.
What about triple reeds? 2 toothpics?
I only pick the top reed. But you can pick all of them if you want too, but I just let the second and third reed stick.

+stemmer109 for sure! Try the picks. It will extend the life. Good luck!

I've experimented with Nitrile, it does work, but the sound quality is not good.
Scott, do you only have to separate the top reed on a multi reed call? I have battled stuck calls. I appreciate this tip. Thanks.
Yes sir just the top reed is all I ever "pick"
Good aeration Jim, I was wondering this too. Thanks
Scott what the best temperature setting in your fridge that want hurt the calls? As of now my fridge is set too 34 degrees in one of my drawers.
Anything less than freezing is fine brother.
Scott Ellis
Ok thanks for the help.
Thanks Brother, your calls are the best. Stopped using Zink calls
Thanks!
Will wooden tooth picks work?
Yes sir. But use the flat style.
I put mine in a snuff can with scope mouthwash and a little water and put in the fridge
+Dustin Faile I'd be careful doing it that way buddy. Keeping those calls saturated will shorten their life span.
thanks scott this will help me cut down on the number of calls i have to replace every year
you bet!
Great tip! I've always stored em in the fridge but never kept the reeds separated.
Thank you!
What about doing the bottom reed?
I only pick the top reed.

@@lucashuff1153 it will run fine when the bottom two stick. Actually will clean up the front end a bit.
Awesome thanks Scott for the help, I’ll just do the top reed from now one. Love that call!!!!
Thanks!
I use the ends of plastic forks to separate reeds.
Yes sir! That will do it!
