I am going to do BIY for the 1st time and maybe try to do CIY (2nd time) simultaneously. I live alone, so I do have the time.... TIME is SOOO precious, and do you realize how MUCH of Fr. Mike's life has been given to us in BIY ...AND...CIY? Thank you sincerely, Fr. Mike, for leading us to a closer walk with Jesus and our brothers and sisters. May your guardian angel (s) protect you every moment. The devil has to be "focused on you" as you lead thousands to know Our Lord more deeply. Thank God for you, your JOY, your deep love for God, and the work he asks of you.❤
I too am going to be doing the Bible in a year for the first time. I've read the Bible several times and done some great studies on it, but I know how much I learned from Father Mike in the Catechism in a year, and just thril😢at what I may be able to obtain from his wisdom..
I’ve done his BIAY and finishing CIAY… I think 2024 will be religious book: lives of the Saint, books by Scott Hahn, Jeff Cavins, etc. does anyone have any suggestions?
This petition asks a lot - not only that the Lord God forgive us fully, but it demands that we are forgiven to the extent that we are willing to forgive those who have hurt us. Wow!! It's painful, difficult, daunting, and high. Yet, we can not escape the command of Jesus. Let's forgive others from the heart, remembering the parable of the Merciless Servant. God is just. It's not a call to be a doormat but the very heart of forgiveness - to just release them from their debt with the strength of Jesus and God's help. It's not in our power to forget or not to feel an offense, but we must just forgive and transform that hurt into intercession by praying for them. Love is stronger than sin, which we have seen lived out on the crucifix and daily in the Eucharist. Jesus comes to us sinners with his love. So we have to love with the love with which we have been loved. This is POSSIBLE with God's grace, help, and prayer. Am praying for each of us and for Fr. Mike. 🙏 ❤ 🙏 😊
One of my favorite prayers I pray almost everyday: Lord Jesus Christ Son of the living God I trust in You to have mercy on me a poor sinner in spite of all of my wretchedness 🙏🏻❤️🕊️🕊️😇🛐
Our final palindrome day in this CIY. Praying for everyone, don't forget to pray for the holy souls in Purgatory, especially the most forgotten soul. They need our prayers. 12/29/2023.
I'll be back. God's will. Thanks Father . I'm learning so much and I'm growing in my faith. I pray God's continued love and blessings for you in Jesus 'Jesus's name. Amen
May God forgive and heal us of our sins that are harming our mind, body, soul specially hurting and offending Him. May God help us in forgiving each other. Thank you Fr.Mike and everyone for being an intercessor. May God grant everyone's prayer.
Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 12/29/2023.
I experienced a healing miracle earlier this month. My hand was partially crippled and I could not use it until I went to a Catholic Young Adult retreat and was healed through prayer. The other day my hand started to cripple again and I remembered a story I heard at that retreat. I learned that unforgiveness can block miracles. I prayed a rosary for someone I was mad at because I needed help forgiving. As soon as I got to the fifth mystery, my hand could work again!
I had to realize one of the hard things regarding this petition is also to forgive oneself if one has failed somewhere in the past. It took me 6 years to forgive myself for dropping out of college.
@@sandyrausch1999 Depends on the thing you have to forgive. I thought myself, the me who dropped out of my College just did the mistakes. I think I had to be generous to myself. The past me had probably done an unforgivable mistake. But in order to protect the future me from bigger Loses I had to think beyond my past me and had to Release my past me from the burden and emotional Consequences of my past Mistake. The point is God has forgiven me then who am I to not forgive my past self. I have to follow Jesus and love myself like Jesus loves me. So part of loving oneself is to forgive oneself. I hope this helps. God Bless.
There is so much to unpack in each lesson of CIY. Don't miss an episode...start off 2024 by making a plan to listen every day for life-changing lessons. Thanks, Father Mike for all you teach the flock!
By asking God the Father to pardon us, we acknowledge before Him that we are sinners. At the same time, we proclaim His mercy because in His Son, we obtained redemption, and through the sacrament of reconciliation, we get forgiveness of sins. But our petition will be answered only if we, for our part, have forgiven first - even our enemies Forgiveness participates in the divine mercy and is a high point of Christian prayer. Forgiveness turns injury into compassion and transforms hurt into intercession. Lord, give me the grace to accept this high call. 🙏

Thank you Fr Mike for articulating very very clearly, the way to forgive others who have hurt us. Now I know I have to bring all of that to the Blessed Sacrament- into the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ to ask help to forgive and to ask forgiveness for all that I’ve done and caused hurt to others. God is so good! He knew I needed to hear this message again, of forgiving VS forgetting as it relates to "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us". How blessed is this day when your message, Father Mike, finally finally resonates deeply to the point of immense clarity that I've long awaited. I now must work harder in growing deeper in to my prayer for mercy toward this person.
A priest in confession once said, every time a thought comes to mind of the person that did the harm, remember to intercede on behalf of that person to the Lord, and pray for their soul and whatever it is, that has caused them to be who they are to set them free from that. He reminded me that Jesus already forgave the minute the person did whatever they did. The intercessory prayer is so important and is something that I often times find hard to remember, as I get caught up in ruminating about the one who did the injustice .
DAY 363 🎉❤🎉😇👼 Deo gratia plena. 🙏 Lord I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof but only say The Word and my soul shall be healed. Today Friday December 29th, 2023 is day 363...I can not believe that it is only two days left of The Catechism in a year podcast with Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension press which means that the year #2024 is 2 days away from us. Thank You Almighty God for all the blessings and protections towards me, my family and friends. Thank you Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension press. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Fr. Mike this is the hardest task to do that God asks us. I have been hurt by so many family members and I pray 🙏 Fr them and try my best to forgive them due the bottom of my heart. I will never forget how they made me feel but try to do what God wants us to do. 🙏❤️
9:42 "God does not accept the sacrifice of a sower of disunion, but commands that he depart from the altar so that he may first be reconciled with his brother. For God can be appeased only by prayers that make peace. To God, the better offering is peace, brotherly concord, and a people made one in the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." -Saint Cyprian The Lord's Prayer (the prayer Lord Jesus taught us): "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." 4:11 forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Praying to God for the heart of Jesus to help us live and love this way with our outward actions, so we pray, live, and love like His Son Lord Jesus who prayed for His persecutors even as they were killing Him. Praying for a heart of Jesus so we can pray for and forgive those who hurt us, and that we can truly trust in God's forgiveness in our own lives. 2839 With bold confidence, we began praying to our Father. In begging Him that His name be hallowed, we were in fact asking Him that we ourselves might be always made more holy. But though we are clothed with the baptismal garment, we do not cease to sin, to turn away from God. Now, in this new petition, we return to Him like the prodigal son and, like the tax collector, recognize that we are sinners before Him. Our petition begins with a "confession" of our wretchedness and His mercy. Our hope is firm because, in His Son, "we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." We find the efficacious and undoubted sign of His forgiveness in the sacraments of his Church. 2840 Now - and this is daunting - this outpouring of mercy cannot penetrate our hearts as long as we have not forgiven those who have trespassed against us. Love, like the Body of Christ, is indivisible; we cannot love the God we cannot see if we do not love the brother or sister we do see. In refusing to forgive our brothers and sisters, our hearts are closed and their hardness makes them impervious to the Father's merciful love; but in confessing our sins, our hearts are opened to His grace. 2841 This petition is so important that it is the only one to which the Lord returns and which He develops explicitly in the Sermon on the Mount. This crucial requirement of the covenant mystery is impossible for man. But "with God all things are possible." 8:31 It is there, in fact, "in the depths of the heart," that everything is bound and loosed. It is not in our power not to feel or to forget an offense; but the heart that offers itself to the Holy Spirit turns injury into compassion and purifies the memory in transforming the hurt into intercession. Merry Christmas and Happy Friday, everyone! Thank you so much for your prayers. Hope you have a light-filled peaceful good week. Praying for you, Father Mike Schmitz and everyone here. Please pray for me!
Amen. GOD is Love ❣️ and to Him be All the Highest Glory☝🏻 Thank you so much Fr. Mike and Ascension. As always, I am praying for all of you. God Bless 🙏🏻

December 29, 2023 Hello! When the Catechism is complete (or maybe even now), consider listening to Saint Faustina’s Diary in a year and/or EWTN Mother Angelica’s Classics to add to your Catholic learning! Oh my goodness so much life guidance in conjunction with Father Mike’s Bible and Catechism in a Year!
I second Dawn M's request. Find St Faustina's Diary narrated by Rev. Joe Roesch by the Marian Press. He reads a diary entry then his meditation of the entry. It's only 8 minutes a day. A great blueprint for living a sacramental life in union with Jesus Christ. 12/29/2023
I agree with Dawn and RM. I learned so much about the life of St. Faustina and about how much love and mercy Jesus wants to give us. Thank you, Dawn, for posting about this which gave me the opportunity to read the diary. Happy New Year!
I have never heard this depth of forgiveness before. I need to go to confession in a very different where. I have never truly prayed for those who have hurt me and I have never genuinely let counted the cost. Amen
Thank you Father. This is all so meaningful for me today. There is a lot in here that I really needed to hear. I may listen to this again! Just 2 days left, I hope and pray that you have something planned for the future! God bless you!
Greetings Father Mike, Thoughts :- -> Message reflect with, "Spiritual Healing happens with Lord Jesus Christ's Grace through Kind Act of Forgiveness in every sense in all aspects of Life." -> Good, Valuable Insights Father.. The greatest book I read on forgiveness was Immaculle Ilibagaza’s “Left to Tell”. It is a powerful story of forgiveness and transformation. It was instrumental in helping me walk through the hardest forgiveness journey of my life, thus far. It was a true gift from the Holy Spirit that this book was handed to me during one of the darkest times in my life.
Have you read "The boy who spoke to Jesus" by the same author? I highly recommend it about a little pagan boy who Jesus spoke to and the mission he gave him to tell people about him before the genocide in Rwanda. It's really powerful 🙏🙏🙏
Immaculle Illibagaza had a forgiveness series on EWTN which was so positive on forgiving others. I did not read her book, but will have to look into it. 🙏
I heard a phrase on EWTN from a priest who was giving a talk to women prisoners, he had a son who committed suicide, and he had all these negative thoughts flooding in because he was not with his son when he died, and he said I REFUSE TO DANCE WITH LIES! Love the phrase and the analogy of the fish hooks and pins. It is a high call, Lord help me to love like you. ❤
December 29, 2023 Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
O greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness, today all mankind calls out from the abyss of its misery to Your mercy---to Your compassion, O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries out. Gracious God do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles! O Lord, goodness beyond our understanding, Who are acquainted with our misery through and through, and know that by our own power we cannot ascend to You, we implore You; anticipate us with Your Grace and keep on increasing Your mercy in us, that we may faithfully do Your Holy Will all through our life and at death's hour. Let the omnipotence of Your mercy shield us from the darts of our salvation's enemies, that we may with confidence, as Your children await Your Son's final coming - that day known to You alone. And we expect to obtain everything promised us by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness. For Jesus is our Hope: Through His merciful Heart as through an open gate we pass through to heaven. Amen❤🙏❤
Fr. Mike, thank you so very much, I needed to hear this, and it helped clarify some of my emotions I need to forgive and move on and pray. Thank you God bless!
Yes, Fr Mike 'Deep is calling on deep' As a person of African descent, I'm called to forgive the Caucasian Christian of European descent for the enslavement of my ancestors ASTONISHING!!!🙏
I once recieved a strong revalation during the Gospel after the ascention when Jesus said 'who's sins you shall forgive...' that forgiveness is NOT an optional extra and to tell others.
Corri Ten Boom was a victim of the Holocaust, because she snd her family were helping Jews hide in her house. She and her sister endured many sufferings at the hands of the Nazis. She was released from the concentration csmp, but her sister died. Years after the Holocaust Corrie met one of the Nazi soldiers who was at her camp. He was a new convert and asked Corrie for forgiveness, and she did. Outwards she said "I forgive you", but she admitted it was impossible for her so she asked God to do the work for her.
Interesting as I wrestle with a bosses wife who threw me under the bus in an office setting She hid my phone logs changed my enteries on the computer and stole money and blamed me Thank you for this understanding Fr Mike 💗
Beautiful song & perfect for Day363. All we need to do is humble ourselves and sincerely ask God for forgiveness and He will give us His Mercy and forgive us. 🤍🙏
What would happen if our Catholic schools used Father Mike’s Bible in a Year and Cathechism in a Year in their curriculum? What if these treasures were the core instruction communicated to our children in Wednesday or Sunday instruction (CCD). I am pretty sure it would have made a difference in my life.
I think most parents think they might have done a better job. We must remember that we did the best we could at that time and carry on in the present with love for our children.🙏
Are we all coming back to hear Father Mike’s Prayers and teachings? I know I am!🙏❤️🙏❤️

For God can be appeased only by prayers that make peace. To God, the better offering is peace, brotherly concord, and a people made one in the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."
-Saint Cyprian
The Lord's Prayer (the prayer Lord Jesus taught us):
"Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
4:11 forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
But "with God all things are possible."
8:31 It is there, in fact, "in the depths of the heart," that everything is bound and loosed.

Hello!
Praise be to God
I have never heard this depth of forgiveness before. I need to go to confession in a very different where. I have never truly prayed for those who have hurt me and I have never genuinely let counted the cost. Amen
I forgive from the ❤❤❤
Thank you, Father Mike
Am praying ❣️. I forgive. I love. Thank you Fr. Mike 🙏🏽
Absolutely powerful ❤
Merry Christmas Fr. Mike and God Bless you for what you are doing
Thank you Father. This is all so meaningful for me today. There is a lot in here that I really needed to hear. I may listen to this again! Just 2 days left, I hope and pray that you have something planned for the future! God bless you!
What a powerful petition!! Thank you so very much Father Mike.
Greetings Father Mike,

Thank you Father Mike and everyone 🙏 Praying for all of us 🙏
The greatest book I read on forgiveness was Immaculle Ilibagaza’s “Left to Tell”.
@@hope4u897 Thank you for this recommendation!

Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
and in my family. Amen.
In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
O greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness,
today all mankind calls out from the abyss
of its misery to Your mercy---to Your compassion,
O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries out.
Gracious God do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles!
O Lord, goodness beyond our understanding,
Who are acquainted with our misery through and through,
and know that by our own power
we cannot ascend to You,
we implore You; anticipate us with Your Grace
and keep on increasing Your mercy in us,
that we may faithfully do Your Holy Will
all through our life and at death's hour.
Let the omnipotence of Your mercy
shield us from the darts of our salvation's enemies,
that we may with confidence,
as Your children await Your Son's final coming
- that day known to You alone.
And we expect to obtain everything promised us
by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness.
For Jesus is our Hope:
Through His merciful Heart
as through an open gate we pass through to heaven.
Amen❤🙏❤

So much to reflect on in this episode. Thanks Fr Mike for your reflections. God Bless. Claire.

I once recieved a strong revalation during the Gospel after the ascention when Jesus said 'who's sins you shall forgive...' that forgiveness is NOT an optional extra and to tell others.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this. 🤍🙏
Wow
Corri Ten Boom was a victim of the Holocaust, because she snd her family were helping Jews hide in her house. She and her sister endured many sufferings at the hands of the Nazis. She was released from the concentration csmp, but her sister died. Years after the Holocaust Corrie met one of the Nazi soldiers who was at her camp. He was a new convert and asked Corrie for forgiveness, and she did. Outwards she said "I forgive you", but she admitted it was impossible for her so she asked God to do the work for her.
Thanks for sharing. 🤍🙏
My parish book club read the hiding place, it was very powerful.

Interesting as I wrestle with a bosses wife who threw me under the bus in an office setting She hid my phone logs changed my enteries on the computer and stole money and blamed me Thank you for this understanding Fr Mike 💗

Beautiful song!❤️🎶❤️🙏❤️
Beautiful song & perfect for Day363. All we need to do is humble ourselves and sincerely ask God for forgiveness and He will give us His Mercy and forgive us. 🤍🙏
@@dianefrank3688 How are you doing Diane?
I@@elizabethcronin3074 I am home now and doing okay. I am trying to catch up as the year is almost over.
What would happen if our Catholic schools used Father Mike’s Bible in a Year and Cathechism in a Year in their curriculum? What if these treasures were the core instruction communicated to our children in Wednesday or Sunday instruction (CCD). I am pretty sure it would have made a difference in my life.
Oh my goodness only two days to go.... I can't believe it.
I’m still trying to forgive myself for being a less than wonderful parent.
I think most parents think they might have done a better job. We must remember that we did the best we could at that time and carry on in the present with love for our children.🙏
