Some notes from a current 8KCAB pilot and aerobatics instructor in the aircraft. When performing any aerobatic maneuvers you want to yank the stick back evenly to get to a desired G load or attitude, in an aircraft like an extra 330 you can full pull on the stick in any direction and it'll listen, with the decathlon it needs to be done with more finesse. Otherwise it'll easily pull more than 4 Gs quickly exceeding the critical angle of attack and creating an accelerated stall condition killing all your energy to complete the maneuver. 4gs is the is the magic limit number for energy management doing aerobatics in the 8KCAB. (In real life)
So lets talk about the loop for a second, divide the loop into four sections like a pie. 1st quarter, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Side note too, trim the aircraft for level flight at 140-150mph, it'll make the maneuver cleaner because it will require less strong imputs.
1st Quarter - level flight to vertical. Deflection of the stick is less at the beginning because of the 140mph and the control surfaces are more effective. Then as the nose comes up the stick needs to be slowly increased back to account for the decrease in airspeed. 4gs is the most a loop should take. Maintain coordination otherwise the nose will yaw and due to gyroscopic precession a little left aileron will be required. If coordination is not maintained the nose will swing and heading will be off. And this goes for every time you use the stick, at all. Which is all the time.
2nd quarter - Decreasing airspeed as discussed will require a larger deflection in the stick to bring the nose over the top. as you get the nose just above the horizon release stick pressure and let the aircraft fly itself around the loop. The weight of the nose will allow it to drop into the 3rd quarter.
3rd quarter - As you let the nose drop, airspeed will increase once again allowing the control surfaces to be more effective. Slowly pull the stick back toward you and allow the nose to continue around to the 4th quarter
4th Quarter - Now your airspeed is increasing and heading straight toward the ground. So in order to make the loop look like a loop and not a cursive L you need to bring that nose up by increasing back pressure once again (less and less will be required as AS increases) and again 4gs is the most you should pull. Once you get to level flight loop is complete
Happy to see this aircraft being developed and can't wait to fly it in the game to compare how it feels compared to the real world. Nice review!
PS We bring the tail up on takeoff

I learned to fly in a Citabria 7ECA way back in 1973 when I was 18 ........ When I was 19, I ferried solo, a brand new Decathlon 8KCAB from the Factory in Osceola, Wisconsin, to Torrance, California(No Radio) Although I have to admit that my favorite Citabria was the 7GCBC with the longer Wing, and Flaps ..... I also have about 1,000 hours flying Banners around Long Island, New York .... This was a day 1 purchase for me with 5 stars

Extra point for us Xbox-ites, it was announced that with this plane, we'll have access to the GTN gps that has been alluding us forever.

We’ve had umpteen planes with native GTN for quite a while now.

And the best part is that the GTN750 is available via the top menu (or Flow) in other planes with the Working Title avionics as well.

An aerobatic instructor in the new sim would be cool. Maybe Patty Wagstaff is available.

Nice review Burstix, cool little plane! Always nice to see developers taking time to create this type of planes.

It is! I didn't care for Aerobatics until this plane. It is wildly different, and the FM feels really really good.

The G meter (accelerometer) has one needle that will move that is indicating your current G forces. it will move follower needles in both the positive and negative direction. these needles stay in place to show what the maximum and minimum G force experienced on the aircraft.
