  • A fascinating snapshot of the Sydney Ferry Controllers and
Customer Assistance officers role in day to day running of Sydney Ferries. Its a Sunday morning in December 2011 and things are not yet busy, but they are starting to heat up. The screens up high to the left show the location in the harbour of the ferries and the big central screen shows Sydney Cove and Circular Quay. To the right are some of the displays of CCTV cameras around the Harbour. On the lower level are the signage and vessel dispatch software. As you will see, phones are going off, Greg is listening to 3 Radio channels as well as dealing with other things as the Ferries come and go. Quite a demanding job they do. You will notice great team work and quite action on tasks that need to be done.

I know this is an old video, but damn I had no idea there was a control room for ferries! I’ve only ever been on Fishburn and that would be over 30 years ago when I went to the zoo. God it feels strange saying that I did something 30 years ago.

Love jumping on the Ferries regardless if it's a cruise over to manly or back or if it's just for a random jump on one of the first fleeters for a cruise around the harbour, But out of all the Sydney ferries I dont know why but Sirius (one of the first fleeters) is my Favorite, in my home office pretty much have a full wall of pictures on A4 just of Sirius and when there finally decommisioned and replaced I'll be hunting down to buy Sirius and give it a home here in Port Macquarie, I love em
