- In this adventure I discover the incredibly scenic town of Nong Khiaw in Northern Laos 🇱🇦
This small town situated on the River in the province of Luang Prabang is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
I take on it's many viewpoints to witness epic sunsets and sunrises. There is also a very local morning market and I finish my trip with a cruise on the River to check out a village only accessible by boat, a beautiful Waterfall and caves used as medical facilities in the Indochina war.

Isn't Laos just great....amazing place. I'm gutted though as I did have a chance to goto Nong Khiaw from Luang Prabang a few years (I think by boat from Pak Ou???

I loved Nong Khiaw as im sure you can tell.
Apparently its a lot like vang vieng.
Vang Vien is good fun but more commercial......of course there is tubing down the river as a must.
I first went in 2009 when there were about 30 bars on the site of the river with slides, swings and people jumping into the river.....with mushroom shakes on top. Apparently 26 people died I think in one year.....and after pressure by the aussie government, serious restrictions were placed on tubing. I last went in 2016, and only 4 bars remained, with no slides and swings.......but now more relaxed. Still enjoyed it......probably more (as I'm getting old). I never did the hot air balloon 🎈 but again wish I did.....I was on a budget though at the time. Enjoy.

I've been thinking about the hot air balloon ride, its pretty expensive. I'm not sure that I'll do it.
