yea same here, i did quit from NW 2 yrs ago with this guy as my #1 go to guide, now that im in TL, i did search this guy hoping for a TL guide, and then boom here he is.
Having more endurance than the enemy's crit chance is still useful because it causes them to roll min damage, which is the opposite of a crit, called a 'glancing blow'. You gotta redo your math. Also, heals can heavy attack, as well as crit.
Glancing blow, I can see that would make sense. I will get that added in Heavy attack on heals? That's interesting, I better double check that. It uses ranged heavy attack chance? Thanks for your feedback.
Glad that I did it right and spend less and stack endurance, I already noticed even in KR evasion stats never really go down too much in price and if you whale around go for it but for casual having fun gamer endurance is the best! Thanks for this video
You bring up healers should focus Dex instead of strength. Crit vs heavy attack. Your heals can heavy attack / crit. I have found that heavy attack is very very very strong on wand since you can get 100 passive, 100 from 50str and 160 on weapons. Overall its like 6% more heavy chance vs not going 50 str and you clearly do give up the crit chance. In return, you can easily gain survivability on healer with 50 STR since the 15 DR stacks nicely with the DR belt (and you could even build shock commander 2 piece) to give 55 DR and you are very tanky. Heals only matter if you are alive, and STR provides a great semi-tank variant to not get you killed with loads of heavy attack heals. It is also worth noting that on WAND your curses can heavy attack and so can curse explosion for 4x dmg in total. So heavy attack builds have more dmg output with the curse build overall for this reason. This allows you to swap to DPS, Healer, or Tank/healer easily and is very fun overall since it does not lock you into specific gameplay. (Yea tanking is possible with a wand, you just need to block correctly and use the shied buffs)
that really depends who you are facing. If it's dagger and greatsword players, then melee. If it's crossbow and longbow then ranged, and if staff users then magic. I would generally say, ranged, cause that's harder to avoid usually. Melee you can run away usually
@@Aragon- Makes sense. Its just that most builds i see online go for melee evasion on gs/dagger, is that meant for pve ? And generally is building evasion only useful in pvp scenarios ? ty
@@johnyy_7579there are more ranged dps classes than there are melee dps classes that’s why. Tanks can still do dps which imo shouldn’t be a thing if healers don’t do much dmg it makes no sense for the other support class whose job is to absorb dmg to also be able to kill efficiently lol. But yea if you are melee stack ranged/magic evasion which, arena it helps to have both an arena rat melee evasion build and ranged build. GvG ranged/magic users have a heavier population/AOE/range of dps field. Just depends on your server basically mine is very magic/ranged classes in PvP
Hey I built around 1200 melee evasion, could you please lmk at which point hit chance makes that number ineffective? Is there a rule of thumb like have evasion atleast 300 over enemys hit chance? If you have less than 425 more evasion than your enemies hit chance, then it's just better to have endurance. So if the enemy has 1,000 hit chance, you need 1,425 evasion
Ey Aragon! glad to have u in Throne and Liberty (I follow you from Neverwinter). Do u know how the formula for defense works? the scaling in damage reduction for increasing defense?
Brilliant breakdown, i’ve been waiting for something so detailed and especially including a sim. The only thing i’m still left questioning is flat defenses. I play Tank, and im currently sitting on 3k melee defense, 2.7k ranged, and 1.3k magic. i’m not sure at what point the returns diminish, or what amount of damage is actually reduced from it. Any idea?
Not sure if its my imagination but since you put that video out last week concerning the up coming changes in Neverwinter, I'm finding the place pretty quiet lately, I guess a lot of people have moved over to ToL, I guess I'll be spending more time in #TheFirstDescendants until things change, though it is a really great online game.
No, ranged and magic evasion or endurance, so you don't die before you reach your target. If you have having a problem in arena dying to melee all the time, then sure, you can go melee instead of magic
Why EVasion for PVE? Especially as a tank you tank Damage anyways so why not reduce it to the minimum? I always thought of evasion just as PVP DPS necessarity
Appreciate all your work brother thank you so much and keep it up ❤. I do have a question tho. Does evasion only evade basic attacks or skills also? cuz when i search for builds it seems like everyone is stacking set effects such as phantom and shadow for DD and their hit chance 200-500 only which makes zero sense to me.
It depends on your target. Just got more the better. I found hout earlier your targets can actually "glance" on you dealing min damage if you get higher endurance than their crit
I'm a Staff player and can not decide if i should invest heavily in dex or not. I think 50 Str for the heavy is too good to pass on but 60 Perception is crucial in pvp. So no room for dex. So the old debate dex vs str :/
i like how at around 10min in the video you compare 1500 evasion with 1000 endurance and conclude 1500 evasion is better. same again you take 1425 evasion and compared with 1000 endurance...
Because the enemy in that example has 1,000 hit chance, so you can just match that. You use less stats to get about the same survivability as if you went evasion +425 over your enemy.
isn't your math skewed because you're missing the fact that Endurance and Eva Stack? Your target won't have 0 Eva and 1k Endurance. You will have 800 magic eva + 800 magic Endurance for example.
Not skewed, I was just showing the comparison. Sure you can get 800 in both evasion and endurance of a specific damage type, but then you are vulnerable to both ranged and melee, not a good idea. Having 800 evasion is pointless if enemies have 800 or more hit chance, so you'd be better off putting all those points into endurance to get like 1,600
@@Aragon- the max maybe they can get is 1k and it says that 10 points = 1% so 800 eva and end is 20% chance. Isn't it smarter to have 20% chance in 2 categories vs having 0% in 1? because 1 would make it 50/50 chance if you counter. basically 0% = 50/50 chance and 20% chance = 20%
If enemy has 1,000 hit chance and you have 800 evasion, you are wasting stats. They will never miss you. They just need higher hit chance than your evasion and they never miss. You have to have evasion 425 points higher than your enemies hit chance for it to be worth it. So if your enemy has 1,000 hit chance you must have 1,425 evasion

I just explained how it works. If you can get over 425 points of evasion, which maxed dagger users can, then stack evasion. Otherwise if not, endurance will serve you better. Although I did not take into account "glancing blows" and so the point difference actually goes up to 500 for evasion to be worth it
