- HongisBored so he jio-ed Jiejie to visit Singapore's city of books, Bras Basah Complex. In the most unexpected twist, we ended up eating Fish Curry made with durian, and really cool calligraphy tools. Bras Basah Complex is such a hidden gem!

終於等到百勝樓，忽然回憶滿滿，底層的天香樓，樓上的(什麽)聯了的書店，樓下的普通級表店，對面的商務書局，對面的小販中心，我在9O年代在新加坡打工的日子，謝謝慶鴻這視頻提醒了我(因為我在下星期去新加坡小住五天，肯定再去百勝樓走走，回憶一下以前的逛書局的日子)謝謝

actually Bras Basah complex very big, got a lot of interesting unique shops (sports and music) and art etc...as with other old malls, can do part 2 revisits when run out of malls hehe. Also hor, you can try take the elevator to highest floor, can see very far, view very nice. But don't too noisy got residents haha

Do you know why they call it 书城 (Book City) but the characters on the building are 百胜楼 (100 Wins Building)？It's bacause 书 (Book) sounds the same as with 输 (losing). And they updated the name for prosperity purpose.
I’ve heard this explanation before but according to zaobao’s interview with a shop owner there, that’s not the case. 百胜楼 was there before 书城 as a 谐音 from bras Basah. Can search Zaobao article with keywords ‘书城书店稀疏 百胜楼没认输’

Another place maybe you can try to do is unique HDB built in Singapore from tampines you know the series dont worry be happy to marina one resident private area with newly open restaurant like ola ola at marina one and Duxton pinnacle etc and the food around it would be very interesting content video also

A lot of bookshop selling Chinese books. Has been here to look for a particular Chinese book but bad news is was informed by one of the store that it is impossible for the book to reach Singapore due to the banned contents which China stopped its export.
Oic… that’s a pity!
I googled a bit of the contents of the book and it has some political contents. Thus, China banned its export.
There is a hobby kit shop on the 2nd level. They moved from the tiong bahru plaza probably 10-15 years ago.

底楼的长河书局几年前已经结业
新年前去一趟
连书城音乐书店也结业了😢
但还是很开心Hong可以介绍百胜楼这个地方
还是有不少中文书店, Maha youyi, union books 等等

@@HongisBored Pahang's one is more watery, made using fermented durian. SG used to have a few stalls selling but now all closed down. Nearest to try is JB!
