We need that comparison video between the R-120SW and R-12SW. Imma cop two R-12SW since my local Costco selling $150 for one. But still great to see a comparison. Subbedddd!!!!

I had my wife pick this up yesterday at Costco with a $100 off membership coupon. Under $200 out the door. Happy to add the R-12SW to my home theatre setup. I do have the R-10SW and I’m really satisfied with it. Time to start fine tuning everything(Again, LOL). So far, I have a 3.2 setup with Sony STR-790 receiver, 2 Sony SS-F7700 4 way tower speakers and a Sony SSCS8 Center channel speaker. All paired up to a 92” Optoma(1080p)Short throw projector. It’s time for me to get those last 4 in wall/ceiling speakers to finish a full 7.2 Surround Setup.
158$ shipped to door from costco.. I ordered a 2nd one for my living room.. Spent over 500 for my last 12" klipsch.. I have some 8" Martain logan subs as well that are very tight, very clean mixing them all together :)
I bought one a couple of years ago. It's a good sub.
@ yes, still working.
I purchased 2 of the Klipsch R-12SW from Costco for $149.99 each on 03/24/2021. Here
we go. First off this Sub-woofer sounds decent. After listening to this
at moderate volume for 5 days I decided to run some test. But first I
run a Sub-woofer Sine Wave Break-in on youtube just to be sure it was
broke in. After that, I setup my mini dsp UMIK-1 and using the latest
version of REW/Room EQ Wizard to begin my measurements. I tried this in
multiple locations and got pretty much the same results. I had these
hooked up on my Denon AVR-2807 Receivers LFE output, crossover set at
250Hz and the Klipsch R-12SW crossover set all the way up to LFE. These
measured -3db at 40Hz where below this, these fall off a cliff and are
down 10db at 30Hz. There is a +3db hump from 50 to 70 Hz and the down
-3db at 90Hz where the sub-woofer continues to roll off up to 250Hz. I
also stuffed the ports with Acousta Stuff damping material, this actually
made the performance slightly better at the bottom at the same time
eliminating the Port Chuffing. The Green line on the Frequency response graph is port plugged the Red is not. I then decided to pull out the woofer and measure the power output into a 200 watt 4 ohm Dummy Load Resistor. 16 volts=64 watts was clean. 17 volts is where the peaks of the wave form were getting jagged and got worse up to 20 volts, just past 20 volts it wold drop back to 18 Volts.
Measured output was 20 volts max which into a 4ohm load is 100 watts. I believe the amplifier has a built in limiter as I could not get the peaks of the wave form to flatten out indicating clipping, they just got very jagged as I turned it up past 16 volts. 20 volts +100 watts was MAX! I returned these to Costco 03/03/2021. I really wanted these to work out but I just can't get over the fact that these did not come close to performing to their advertised specifications. I am very disappointed in Klipsch. I will never trust their advertised Specifications again. Consumers should be able to make educated decisions on what the manufactures advertise. It is getting more and more not to be the case. I have seen so many positive reviews on these Klipsch R-12SW and that is what I based my decision to purchase these. I am the only person I know of whom actually went through the process of testing and literally taking these apart to do actual measurements. I hope that this helps others to make a more informed decision. Good Day.
Up to how many db did u get up to? And is it true it has 200 watts rms?
For $150 what where you expecting?
@@Mimsk agree with expectation, but specification should reflect the capabilities of the device honestly, right?
I have one of them and a older klipsch 10 with passive 12 in back and I completely agree. My dual 8in woofer towers play lower than this sub which is a joke in itself. Get a hsu or monolith if budget matters. Jtr for more money and no neighbors lol
$169 today at Costco 👍
Where at? Usa or Canada?
@@georgioantoine4194 online today. Black Friday deal
@@Harleychromeman74 weird.. can't find it. I NEED THAT SUB. LOL
Send me the link please.

Beware of Klipsch. I paid $600 for what I thought was a top quality unit (not from a big box store). It died within 2 years. I'll never buy another Klipsch product!
I never had a Klipsch product die on me.. That sucks.
I have the model close to the R-12SW but they're the wireless Klipsch 12" subs that I bought to replace 1 SVS 12" that's too powerful to use 2 of them.. PB-S12 SVS
Need to pull a rear ported speaker away from the wall.
The sub is not against the wall.. The sub is about 4 inchs off the wall. Which is more than enough space between the port considering the size of the port.
@@JeromeJunior thats still not enough room for your sub to breath.
I finally measured the port size. You are correct. The port is 3 inchs. I should have the subwoofer twice the diameter of the port away from the wall.
Hello! friend. I would like to know if this klipsch subwoofer has deep bass?
Still 169.99 valid 1/17/21 through 2/7/21...
Also.. That backport shouldn't be so close to the wall.
I know,I moved the sub further from the wall since the video.
$150 now.
Nice. The next thing i would do is, sound treat the room. I know i need some acoustic panels myself. I have a living room bigger than yours and there are echoes or reverb, and boomy midrange frequencies that need to be dealt with.
Just bought this off your review, but I have it connected LFE to a Yamaha receiver and I can barely here a thump out of it. Can you help me figure it out or if that part of the break in
Make sure speakers set to small
@@bukwildbhz it was my Yama that didn't have the sub turned on. It's working now. The sub hits hard and nice
@@Tankomas I'm gettin one tonight, on sale for $169 @costco
The speaker itself IS copper, not just colored copper.
Thanks dude, based on your review I decided to buy it...👍
First thing you do when you buy one these subs is take the woofer out and throw it away - it's total crap I blew mine the first week I had it - If you don't believe look at it - completely generic - with a tiny magnet - wires are soldered on, I replaced it with 70 dollar Harmony with a 90 ounce magnet that can take the 200 watts. The woofer klipsch uses is a little bit smaller in diameter then typical 12 inch speakers and the grill will only fit with the speaker it came with. Bottom line - buy the sub just for it's amp - build a new cabinet with a new woofer then parallel it with another woofer and take that amp down to 4 ohms.
I have a Bose L1 compact. The output are red/white, 1/4" and 3.5mm. I have a logitech bluetooth in the 3.5mm at the moment. Can this speaker pick up that bluetooth signal. If not, then where can I connect this RCA bluetooth device that came with the speaker?
No problem close to the wall Is a rear ported ?
Is it possible to hook this up to a set of my computer speakers? specifically mackie CR5-XBT
You should try playing The Humpty Dance when testing Subwoofers for real Bass performance lol. That's what i do whenever i get a new Sub. If they can handle that song without crackling i know they're good. ;)
Can you share link to cable purchased from Amazon.
my polk psw10 is going back to amazon. I will be purchasing this sub. even with the 5% extra for none Costco members it is still a great deal.
What all do I need if I want this for my pc. My old one broke. I have two speakers that the end of are wires ( I need a adapter) but what I don't know what I need if I want to connect my speakers to the sub and is connected to my pc
I think I am going to pick this one up from Bestbuy on Friday for my birthday, I already have all matching Klipsch in wall speakers but the rear speakers are not, having trouble getting the speaker wire ran back there, the ceiling is vaulted so it will be some work to get wire back there but I will get it done
Can anyone tell me an alternative receiver for really cheap please. And also do I have to have other speakers like he does or can I just use my tv or something
anyone know the background music from the start?
That beat goes HARD! Who is that?
Chuki Beats. Look up his channel.
Hello bro...it is normal ...The back of sub ,12sw hot while when we on music or movie ...
Do a video on Dolby Atmos!!!
Does anybody know if I can literally buy this is and just directly hook it to my tv ?
You need a receiver with a sub out. Your TV will connect to the receiver then it goes to your speakers/subwooder. Some active speakers have sub out ports
@@andrewelkins9728 thank you very much!
80$ On sale at amazon, thought id do some research but now its back to 250$, snooze and lose i guess! :(
Oh dang ☹️
I hear these have a lot of low frequency hum problems
Will this work with a klipsch sound bar? I would like to replace the 8 inch sub it came with.
Take the woofer out so we can look at the woofer and inside
Can you use a wireless transmitter with this sub? I'm thinking of getting two one for the front of the room and the second in the rear.
Yes, There are aftermarket wireless transmitters that would work. The one Klipsch make is not compatible with this model.
Do you know which transmitter will work ? Do u have a link?
Is it possible to use the wireless kit for this sub?
the mic on your phone or whatever you are recording with cant pick up how they really sound or any good bass lol but I think this sub will actually break the old windows in my bed room because my pc setup and speakers are pretty close to my windows lol my house is so old and not updated
Mine didn’t come with cable 🥺🥺
It's "mine", not "Mine's" bro Smh...
Hey dude , what’s the avr you have for it ? Is that an onkyo? What’s the model?
Yes, its a Onkyo. Model tx-nr686. It's a great AVR
I love to dumpster dive and I just found one like it brand new unopened box that's why I am here to check up the reviews. I also found a lot of stuff new and open boxes most of the stuff is from Costco.
You literally hit the jackpot, now a used one is over 200 lol
Mat just be the recording but if I were you I'd stand back or sit in your normal listening position and then try the subs 180deg switch on both settings 0 and 180 out as it sounds like it is canceling in this video...
This sub is trash, I purchase the same model; month and a half later, the amp went out. 2 month after warranty claim.... still waiting.
I have one and my father in-law bought 2. They all still running strong. Sucks that happen
You pushed it too hard lmao this isn’t the best sub in the world definitely better out there
I have a Mini MagniFi Polk & this one as well, is there any way I can connect them together? And if so, what adapters/converters should I buy?
just picked up 2 of these for 300$ and some change. can't wait to hear that bass
Is it Bluetooth?
No
hello there. is this r12sw good for my r41m speakers
Good stuff. I just got the same one. With only one out put from my receiver, should I just connect my cable to the white (left) input of the subwoofer or should I get a "Y" adopter to plug into both (left and right) inputs of the Sub? What do you think the best settings in the rear are for a theater room size 12x18?
How is this different from R-120SW?
I have a comparison video coming soon. It will answer your question.
@@JeromeJunior cool
My question can I connect the klipsch 5.1 channel reference hometheatre and the klipsch r12sw jus coz I feel the 8 inch sub on the 5.1 won't be too powerful
If your receiver have the input for an additional sub, sure.
Polish subtitles please
I just got mine today
I have 8 inch studio monitors in my room and they vibrate/shake the windows a little bit
100 watts
Worth buying? ? do you think it sounds clean?
Yes, and yes
Jerome, the specs for subs are hard to interpret - the range the specify is 29Hz - 120Hz at +/-3dB - but this speaker is capable and does deliver the same consistent 20Hz performance when tested side by side with THX certified subs. There are a bunch of bench tests showing the same here on RUclips.
Klipsch is just saying that given the 29Hz-120Hz range the spread is +/- 3dB. I have the Onkyo TX-NR6100 and setting the sub to THX certified produced great 20Hz performance, in fact the reason there is a THX certified setting on the amp is to tell it the sub can handle 20Hz reliably - and, boy, howdy, believe me it can. Our buddies at Klipsch do a great job at not mentioning this since they paid Lucas Films a bundle for the certification of their THX-1200-SW. They also have to a pay a royalty to put the THX logo on the THX-1200-SW box. This in NO WAY means other non-certified subs do not have specs that would pass the certification process, it just means you don't have to pay an extra $1000 to get them.
This is an amazing sun at 3 times the price - buy one before they're gone !
Thanks for the info. Wouldn't think this sub could handle going that low.
The Klipsch cannot go down that low. It's $150 sub. It's not going down to 20 htz. My $1000 CAD SVS 2000 goes to 18 htz. I also have a old JBL Northridge 250E 12" sub that has better specs than this Klipsch.
what is a good amp for this?
hey man i want you make a video on requests of songs that we think bump hard with those subs i got 3 songs in mind i want you to test out unless you heard them already, three six maffia-rainbow colors ...brotha lynch hung-Sweeney todd......evil pimp-demons
Just play the songs. The subs hit hard with those songs
@@JeromeJunior thats awesome if you wanna hear another banger check out the song brotha lynch hung- anotha killin. i bet you will like that one
How long is the power cable ?
Can you hook this up to a PC?
Can you feel the sub and kick in chest when played loud enough ?
You can definitely feel it, but its not the same feeling of compressing the room.
With the klipsch 5.1 reference do I need a receiver
Yes
Its Klipsz not Klips Bruh
He said okyo too lol😂
lol, is that an apartment?
No
can i put this in my car?
No
Eso es inalámbrico?
No
Are they speakers or only do the base beats
$149 today at Costco
Nice review mate, looking forward to listening to some #Klipsch subs one day
I have this woofer. It sounds good but I feel like its not loud enough for me.
Subwoofers are not loud. You are suppose to feel them! No such thing “as a loud sub”
@@Joetrout What a stupid comment. Your saying they don't produce noise from vibrations?
@@technoir2584 stupid? Obviously you don’t know much! Bass you feel not hear! More power will produce a harder bass frequency not volume
@@Joetrout Thus making in louder.
@@technoir2584 bass you feel not louder. You must not really know anything about frequencies
Personally it's hard to really get a feel of a subwoofer by watching it on youtube.. Their all like that.. plus the music your playing really doesn't help the woofer when you have missed and highs playing as well. Single out the sub and play some DJ magic Mike drop that bass or something.
Orlando 1991 in the house.
how long did it take to break in? i installed 2 in my home theater and they don't play as low as i hoped they would.
It took a week worth of use before mines started to play deeper. Playing music all day helped get there quicker. The R-12SW definitely took longer than my R-120SW
Would you be able to put this in a car as a sub woofer?
Nope it uses too much power for a car to use, so I would recommend you use a subwoofer made for a car.
Can any type of side speakers be plugged directly onto this. My little 5.1 vizio sub is getting weak I've had her since 2015 looking for something better I loveeee bass
This subwoofer needs to be plug into a sound source. I am currently working on a review of another subwoofer that might actually fit what you looking for. Stay tune, video should be up next week
