    Hello,
Just a friendly tip...leave-in conditioners, creams/butters and oils are moisturizers and should therefore be applied to damp hair.
Hair needs to be hydrated and moisturized. Water serves as the least expensive AND most effective way to hydrate hair, while moisturizers lubricate the hair to PREVENT water from escaping. So both are necessary. Unfortunately, though, a lot of people forget about the need for water in their hair care routine.
Nearly all moisturizers (leave-ins, creams, butters and oils) CANNOT hydrate the hair. Hydrated hair is a function of how well our hair retains water. This is where moisturizers find their purpose.
Leave-in conditioners, creams/butters and oils are moisturizers. Meaning, they create a barrier around our hair cuticle to SEAL water in the hair to keep it hydrated. Additionally, moisturizers add nutrients to the hair and scalp..like what fertilizers do for plants. The caveat though is that they can only function as purposed when added to damp hair. Applying them to dry hair can lead to a host of issues.
Adding moisturizers to DRY hair will eventually lead to breakage, split ends and/or plateaued growth. This is because the oils, butters, etc. create a barrier (a seal) around our hair cuticle which prevents moisture from penetrating our hair. So if your hair is dry when you add moisturizers, you are essentially sealing in dryness...meaning, you are preventing your hair from receiving hydration and causing it to REMAIN in a constant state of dryness.
That is why a lot of naturals suffer from dry hair, breakage, split ends and/or plateaued hair growth even though they care for their hair by "greasing" or oiling regularly. This of course can cause immense frustration for naturals, and has led to many naturals returning to relaxers (this includes texlaxing, texturizing, s-curl, etc.).
That's why it's so important to add your moisturizers to damp hair...and then you can dry your hair as you please, with or without heat.
Please only let your hair dry (either air dry or with heat) AFTER applying your moisturizers.
    With love family...♥

Heyo 😅. Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it. Tbh I've tried leaving my hair to dry without using a blow drier but if my hair is too wet, it causes it to break. But on the other hand using a blow drier on high heat all the time can also cause heat damage and cause it to break. I try not to completey dry my hair.. and if anything sometimes I try not to use high heat. If I do dry my hair with a blow drier, most cases, i wait a bit for it to finish most of its dripping and then I blow dry my hair until DAMP not dry. WE DONT LIKE DRY HAIR !!! Otherwise the process of letting my hair dry on its own is just long especially if I'm washing my braids. My hair is just funny but Thanks again for your tips I really appreciate. :D

@@naturallyshaniakbee you're welcome...and you can dry your hair as you choose best appropriate, with or without heat. The main suggestion is to add your moisturizers before you dry your hair.
I truly hope the best for you on your hair journey. ♥
PS. I love the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil line!

Heyo. I'm not sure if you're talking about the castor oil but I usually put it on my damp hair (NEVER ON DRY HAIR) to seal in moisture then afterwards I use the JBCO cream leave in.. if you want maybe you could try using natural aloe vera in your deep conditioning treatments as well because it's really good for moisture. There's also the As I am castor oil hydration spray (every two days) which i use for moisturization while my hair is in protective styles. My 4c hair grows best in protective styles so it may be the same for you. But yeah protective styles and moisturize!! :P.. Hopefully the breakage isn't from split ends cuz a stylist would probably tell you to trim em. Thankyou btw :D

How often do you wash your hair?

    • @naturallyshaniakbee
      @naturallyshaniakbee  Год назад +3

Heyo. Ideally I'd try cowash/deep condition every two weeks in warmer climates or when I'm exercising but now that it's cold outside I'll do a full wash day once a month especially if my hair is in braids.

@@naturallyshaniakbee Hey, I use mielle organics. Those products use to be good but in America when a product is good for women of color
and the FDA etc discovers it, they water it down or add extra products. In America we can't have anything good for ourselves.

Hi. You're not obligated to learn how I wash my hair. This type of content is for people with natural hair (mostly type 3 and 4) who are interested in learning how the product may work on their hair or wondering if they should really buy it or they may just like watching these types of hair care videos. It's in the title. If these types of videos aren't helpful to you then please don't watch them.
